Dude you joined a toxic guild who walks right into other peoples camps and tries to take them over, asked for free loot from your guild leader and then complained about the lack of social interactions and 'loot pinatas'. You also complained about krono and the yearly bag bundles, both of which are the only real reason Daybreak can afford to keep everquest alive. Just go play on P99 like you said you want to.
One of the leaders of QYC on Teek here. Thanks for the call out! I'm stoked you had a good experience with us, its nice to know the loot we sent out was appreciated and well used! Looks like you are still guilded, so come back and play with us some more soon!
Heres the crazy part : Tormax has been an amazing community and a lot of fun, with Kunark still being open. No random loot (which i miss, i had plenty of fun on Thornblade back in the day), but it really is a fun little oasis from all the sweaty try hards with super friendly general chatter and a handful of family guilds and a couple bigger ones.
My only gripe with modern TLP EQ is the over reliance on charmpets. Efficient grps want 3 if not 4 charmed pets and it's just getting ridiculous, wish they'd add some diminishing return nerf where charmpets get 10% weaker per charmpet in grp or something.
I made myself a dwarf warrior on Teek and got him to 3 so far. Been focusing on my Quarm necro who is almost 40. Been in LGuk a lot and trying to solo some more as well.
Teek is gonna end up like every other TLP server - in 12-13 months from now, once PoP has come and gone, 85-90% of the current population have quit (again). And some of these will start on the next TLP, to get that "vanilla" feeling for the umpteenth time.
I haven't been subscribed since 2003. I've played P99 in the meantime here and there. I would have to say that some of the changes they have made over the decades aren't too bad. Some of them really help someone like me that always has a problem playing this game due to RL responsibilities. I have been playing since the day the server launched and am only level 23, but I am having a blast. I joined a casual guild that does raid, but doesn't require it cause I doubt I'll ever get to participate in that part of this game. My major disappointment would lie in how everyone wants to level, level, level as fast as they can and everyone flocks to the same zones and the zones that are actually fun, remain empty due to there being no ZEM in them. Still having fun, it's just a shame how that part of the game appears to be gone.
I just started p99 the other day. Today I had a guy buff me and I stood there n thanked him and stuff and he was like "" goo go kill stuff!" IRL I just shook my head. Like thanks for the buffs my man but I take my games slow and enjoy them. Bigger numbers and shinier armor mean nothing to me.
Druids are easy to be ok with and very hard to be great at. Learn to kite and root rot. You can save groups from bad pulls by simply being able to peel off and solo 1-2 mobs. Learn to quickly swap your spell gems, and where the spells are located. With proper snares and movement you can quickly get different spells in. Especially Evan’s. A lot of it is learning to manage threat and keeping yourself from harm to best assist the group. Get a decent gauge on what you are fighting and how fast your group kills it. Faster mobs and groups, just blast with DD. Slower mobs and groups, DoTs can be more efficient dps. Combine when you have to burn something fast. Keep your tank with a DMG shield, unless there’s a mage. Get good timing on your dots so there is little down time on bosses to max dps. DD’s resist a lot and pull a ton of aggro. Fire line DoT lowers AC so melee hit harder, try to always keep it up. As a healer, there are awful catch up healers. Best to always keep tank 50-60%+, typically start casting around 70% and spam smaller heals if they give more healing per mana. Also your DD don’t do as much damage as a Caster DD, but your DD spells cost less, so typically you can cast 3 DD spells to their 2 for similar damage output. With the proper combinations of DoTs and DD, was able to keep a Druid top 10 in DPS in almost every fight through velious.
I waited in the launch queue for 3hrs. When I got in, I didn’t know about picks and couldn’t find my friends in /who so assumed I was on tormax and logged out and back in
I'm having a blast on Teek. There are thousands of people, tons of groups, tons of random loot. I'm 2 boxing a cleric and enchanter and making about 5 kronos a day just for normal grouping. I've never had to wait in a Queue though.
I’m one of the old folks returning to the game after 20 years away, and I’m really have a blast! It’s definitely not like it was back in the day-there’s really a complete lack of casual/non-raiding guilds, for one-but it *is* great seeing throngs of people everywhere! I’ve been leveling pretty slowly (only 23 after 12 days), and I haven’t had a problem finding a group yet.
I love druids, Didn't get to really play EQ back in the day so i played a bit on privet serves it was fun a Cleric, im doing a Gnome warrior this time so diff but fun. great vid keep it up!
Druids are the Kite kings because of the snare, Necros and Sham Dot Rot. AT lower (Well to 50+ LOL when Shams get their HOT spells )LVLs Druids are preferred as Healers over Shams . So They can do groups ports are always good because you can group in unique places. .
I'm a new player who soloed to level 6, but I think it might already be time for me to part ways with Teek. I can really only use Classic WoW for comparison, a game that I get embarrassingly minmax with, I finally understand how new players feel on a fresh WoW server. Thousands of new things to learn, the ego blow of being bad while most players have years or even decades of experience, that empty feeling left by everyone pushing for end game ASAP while you just want to enjoy every moment of leveling and the beauty of a new world, etc. Some of the aspects that I don't like about Retail WoW (the current and most recent expansion version of the game) are present on Teek as well, which is something that you covered. The idea of Project 1999 appeals to me a lot more and I might try that next.
I would encourage you to try quarm instead of p99 as well. P99 is very top heavy and you'll have a very lonely experience to max level. Quarm still has many people leveling and is much more casual friendly (but there is still plenty of ability to be hardcore). P99 it's either hardcore or nothin' comparatively
Nice, Qeynos Yacht Club is one of the guilds I was considering joining but I ended up not having fun on Teek so switched to Tormax where I have been having a lot more fun. QYC lot of nice people though.
I have been thinking of getting back into EQ after not having played in 20 years. Mostly right now I am just trying to decide where to play since there are quite a few, sometimes quite small, differences between all the servers. Thanks for some of your videos showing each server.
Dude, monk/druid is such a fun and easy going combo. you two will enjoy it for sure. I have a monk/druid combo on Tormax, and there's not much i can't tackle at my level
It's a lot of gatekeepers. Mangler seemed like more "fun" to me, but I digress. I hope people are enjoying it! Haven't met many chill peeps at the lower levels.
My experience on teek hasn't been that great. Started out in Kunark and finding groups has been hard. All these people playing the game and I just basically end up spamming ooc for hours with no response. Moved to lguk the other day to be where the people were. It's a parking lot in there overall it's not what I hoped it would be. Maybe in a few months thing will settle down and I will be able consistently get groups.
Start a grp, look for a camp, get people to get moving. Most people want an easy experience, sitting in LFG waiting for someone else to put in the work. If you put a grp of random LFGs together and tell them where to go you'll have a lot more going on. Most people need a leader else nothing is going to happen. Keeping grp chat alive also important to prevent people fading out, ask for ETAs, tell people you're waiting for X to get there then you'll move etc. It's all just social engineering.
They should bring back Hell lvls on TLPs to slo people down . But other than that its been the best tlp I've played on because of the Random Loot which makes less Farming , Less Hogging Mobs
I don't know I haven't really played since like 2004. I did try playing once like 8 years ago on I think project 99 but the starter zones were all dead. You were looking at days of solo grinding before finding anyone and i just noped out. I agree there are changes on teek but i find them overall beneficial. Original EQ back in the day was harsh and you needed groups unless you played a couple of classes. It was part of what made the game great forcing you to join groups had the knock off effect of also forcing you to meet new people. I am finding teek to very much bring that back with so many folks playing getting a group has been pretty easy on every class for me so far and it has been a ton of fun. I can see it if you like the solo thing with the mercenaries or the multiboxing how this would maybe make you unhappy but for me returning to a game i left many years ago it has brought back a lot of joy that has been sorely missing in most modern mmos. Maybe the other servers are great as well but for me for EQ to be great there needs to be a large enough population to make the world feel full. Maybe the time lock progression is just my thing although I am not in any rush. There certainly are people rushing but it's absolutely not necessary at this point at least. Progress i faster than it was back when I played and I am finding it quite well paced so far. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Personally I doubt I could be happier to finally be able to return to this game in a highly populated server. The changes I am seeing have all been positive. Even the cash store. I never really cared how far others were ahead of me as long as when i got there there was a grp to be had and so far there has been.
The nostalgia will make more or less any server great in the beginning when returning after many years :) The problems with the Live servers are numerous, though. Bot armies being a huge one, the mentality in general (players stealing mobs/camps/etc.), the whole semi-RMT economy through kronos/cash-shop. And all in all the whole more or less "effortless" gearing, leveling and skilling up, which always leaves the servers more or less "dead" around the end of Planes of Power or so =/ It can of course be fun and enjoyful anyway, that fun and lively experience just lasts much, much longer on e.g. Quarm, where the population has now been steadily high throughout almost 9 months, and it's going to even rise with Kunark opening up here on the 1st of July :)
Well even back in the Day you could solo the 1st 10 LVLS pretty Much. Then Group time after 10 Orcs everywhere and still require a group because you can't single pull them , Then UnRest in group . Till Kunark in Groups till 60. People who cant find groups are lazy or anti-social.
Look up the Testament of Vanear quest for a nice secondary slot wis item without too much investment. The Paw of Opolla is a decent primary/secondary slot wis item, but it's not a weapon and it involves camping for quest items.
i think random loot helps endgame since theres no reason to go after specific targets for specific loot you could do any endgame raid just to experience it and get any gear
I couldnt talk any friends into playing Teek with me and after a few experiences with people trying to steal camps in UR I think I'm just gonna take a break from the server. I'll probably check out Quarm again in a few days.
@@youMatterItDoesGetBetter but is there actually any people in them in the low levels? As someone returning after playing originally I tried project 99 once back quite a few years ago and it was dead in the early zones. I guess a lot of folks enjoy soloing but for me EQ was always about grouping and in my experience there was little to none of that in the early levels.
@@dagnabit2020 A good amount of people, yes. It’s alive and kicking. Its still an “early” server if you know what I mean. Even Toxx had like 9 people at 3am the other day. I don’t solo much. I found a group at level 4 and went from there.
Unfortunately druids are in very low demand, generally groups wont want you if they have a wizard, ports become obsolete in POP and their epic is meh at best. Solo they rock and you pl people like crazy so thats great, but I found myself pretty much not wanted after POP on live so it was a bit depressing
More or less "easy mode" will always get boring quite fast, especially if you've tried the "real" thing :) Can't recommend Quarm enough, btw, have had the best EQ experience ever of any server with PQ. Currently enjoying Self-Found, which is also a ton of fun =)
The game itself is easy mode, P99 and Quarm are brain dead easy as well, but it’s still just fun to play all different server types from private to live.
@@dessius Aye, SF is just a blast =) Not that much for HC or solo here when it comes to EQ, though. Can be fun, of course, but the great part about just SF is mainly not just being able to buy most of your gear, actually having to go out and explore and get it for yourself (which often requires a group) :) HC and solo in EQ is mainly just a completely solo thing, where the character is often more or less just retired at max. level. A nice challenge of course, but also one that takes quite a time investment. Why I'd rather just play SF, where you're still able to take on fun and challinging content, raid later on, etc. Really the best of all worlds, if you ask me, and removes the whole somewhat negative aspect of platfarming, twinking and buying gear, instead of actually experiencing all the different zones and camps for yourself for that gear, as part of the journey, instead of just shortening the whole thing and in that sense ruining the most fun parts of the game for oneself. Quarms SF flag option is a really nice addition to EQ, and I actually expect that we're going to see pure SF servers at some point in the future =)
@@nicholashedberg3133 Quarm etc. doesn't just hand the player their gear, levels and skills. That's more or less the essence of it, so you really can't compare Quarm and Live in that sense. And even less so if we're talking SF flagged ;)
lets be honest its just like every other tlp that comes out. With each tlp its rinse, repeat do all the same things over and over again with a few minor tweaks.
TLP is completely different game from p99, or even Quarm, I did Agnarr from classic to Time and that will probably be the last TLP I ever do, I much rather prefer p99 without all the micro-krono bs and hackers/showeq/MQ2 ect.. ect..
Teek is the worst TLP server to date. I've never seen so many people full boxing groups. Taking the socializing to a bare minimum. It feels like everyone is just out to horde krono for the next TLP. Its worst EVERY TLP. TEEK is the last one I'll ever play. Done with the cheaters and bully tactics that happen and Devs act blind to it all.
Teek sucked for me cuz of the anniversary tower n thats it. Otherwise i would of been full n. Bots dont bother me, as thats a kronos problem not a tlp problem.
dont agree on p99, imo its an awful server, ran by utter twats. Avoid like plague is my advice. Imperium server is decent, but lack of community, for new players. Teek is pretty decent, just avoid the asian traders in tunnel.....
these comments are exactly why eq sucks now, just a bunch of sympathizers for bad design and player behavior, devs could easily make rules to stop people being toxic and stealing camps and get rid of the bots but they simply dont because they make them more money and i dont buy it that they need bots to keep eq1 going, krono should only be for paying subscription not for geting gear in the game
Dude you joined a toxic guild who walks right into other peoples camps and tries to take them over, asked for free loot from your guild leader and then complained about the lack of social interactions and 'loot pinatas'. HC and solo in EQ is mainly just a completely solo thing, where the character is often more or less just retired at max.
Ive been loving Teek so far. Got my bard up to 56 and finished up my VP key last night. Working through my epic.
Most certainly you accidentally left on the ugly new character models, you're welcome!
TLP is completely different game from p99, or even Quarm, I did Agnarr from classic to Time and that will probably be the last TLP I ever do, I much rather prefer p99 without all the micro-krono bs and hackers/showeq/MQ2 ect.. ect..
yes it does
Krono kills the game and destroys a healthy economy on TLP servers, but microtransactions are part of AAA gaming life now =(
The only thing annoying about krono is having lvl 60 monks showing up to lvl 20-30 dungeons to sit on named spawns
Boxing 🤮
Just happy to be back after 20 years, boxing seems to have slowed, but still there at times. The tower on a Tlp is interesting.
Come to Tormax!
@@karlolson1871 nah Quarm is the best server I've ever been on. I won't ever be leaving that one. Finally can say TLP is a thing of the past for me.
yes come play project quarm, such a better server.
Druid? Give up and roll something else
From someone that had 300 days /played, agree 100%
@@zethmoxcan I ask why? I’m Druid fml
Teek = nerfed content so you can finish expansions in a month. its fake everquest.
yes. it does. quit already.
these comments are exactly why eq sucks now, just a bunch of sympathizers for bad design and player behavior, devs could easily make rules to stop people being toxic and stealing camps and get rid of the bots but they simply dont because they make them more money and i dont buy it that they need bots to keep eq1 going, krono should only be for paying subscription not for geting gear in the game
