One of the most well constructed videos I've ever seen. Content, editing, pauses, narrative, overlays, history, music, humor combine for a delightful watch.
What happened to my mentor 😢? Hands down the best content that youtube ever had to offer. You have helped me so much over the last 5 years. Thank you vary much for sharing so much.
I did this with my Dad when I was a teenager. We had a friend of my Dad's who wanted wood shingles on his barn roof and he owned several hundred acres of a creek bottom loaded with nice White Oak trees. My Dad showed me how to pick out only the best straight grained White Oaks for this job. We cut all the trees into bolts and stacked them until they were nice and dry. That fall we rived the shingles out of those nicely dried bolts. It was quite the project and learning experience. The rancher was happy and he paid us well.
I wish you could teach me how! I know I can teach myself n learn s as I go. But thinkit’d sure shorten the learning curve quite a bit to work with someone who knew what they were doing a day or two.😂
Awesome video series on building you log chicken house with shakes roof! Can't wait to see her finished. Thanks for the videos! My beautiful wife and I just moved to a 100 acre wooded farm in Western Kentucky very close to where I was born and raised. We're loving here on our farm. We got 12 chickens and enjoying getting ready to plant our garden. We also have beehives and looking to increase our hives this year. Your channel sends me back to me childhood where both my parents and grandparents came from the hills of Kentucky and Tennessee. I'm enjoying learning from you! Thank you again for your channel and videos
Finaly Finaly Finaly!!!!! You have no idea how much iv missed your videos!!! Please keep them coming i know its hard work but the information you bring to the table is more helpful than you will ever realize!!
Truly the best channel on UA-cam. So smart, educational, funny, bright, and thought provoking. And maybe I’m gushing here but also the best edited and soundtracked as well! Please keep it up! Best!!
Try and fit shakes flat from the rear as the frontblast longer by far split not chopped ! Try using a tire tube a couple times around a round then split with a fro in place chestnut works well too !
Made the start of my year better! Good to see you are still at it, and judging from the piles of shakes it's why the length of time between videos was a little longer. Thanks!
I absolutely love your videos, I know most of us here do, and I'd like to say from the bottom of my heart that when i see a new video from anyone else, they never ever excite me as much as yours, I literally drop whatever I'm doing to watch your videos! And rewatch them! They are inspiring and educational and funny! I am so grateful that you take the time to put these up for us, and I wish you and yours a blessed new year!
Very happy to see another video from you. Thank you so much for taking the time to produce great content. Happy New Year to you and all the best with your farm!
I'm making my daughter a tree house. 8 foot by 9 foot. Using stomps and logs. I have a huge down tree. And thought, house did they make wood shingles in the ol days. I like your work area, with the Y tree and the 3 stumps under it. Thanks for sharing. I'm an expert now. Or at least have enough courage to try. Thanks for the amazing video nicely done. Truly inspired thank you.
Yay! I can't wait to see the shingles go up! I made a second chicken run for a second flock of laying hens. It took me a while to do, the fencing and all. I also renovated a little coop my son and I made together. In the future, I can also use the newer coop/run to raise meat birds. Now all I need is a Pa Mac video on how to butcher a chicken. I'd also love to see you fashion a right nifty chicken plucker!
What awesome timing....Sitting here totally disgusted watching UGA slop around and I see during halftime that there has been a Pa Mac sighting! As always an awesome video!! Best UA-cam channel I've seen. I'm not often envious but you are the man!!!Take care Pa Mac.....already looking forward to the next one.
I am happy to see you return. I maybe wrong I haven't seen any videos in a while. I hope all is well with you and your family. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
we always look forward to a new video, and would love more of them, but as you said about patience.our favorite video is the one of you falling face first in the creek, whilst looking for water, still makes me laugh.great job as always, and thank you.
Just came across your channel. I have always loved wood. You make me want to build a chicken house. No chickens though! Maybe small playhouse for grandchildren? Yeah, in my dreams!
Happy New Year....I occasionally froe a bit of Western Red Cedar or straight grain Western Larch myself...thumbs up. Also...we used this method to make our fur stretches .....back in the day...LOL !!.......dig it. Thank You. Really enjoy the pickin.....
Hello again Long time no see 🙈. I steal look at your skidding logs video . I put the video in my favorite and share it to my friends. Remember safety is number one on your homestead.
Really enjoy your videos... A note on the froe, from what I learned in the past and my own experience a bit... If you have a split that is feeling imbalanced and one side is running off and getting thin, if you work your levering into the fatter side it may very well bring the split a bit more into balance and save the thin bit. You can spin it around and push into the thickness, rather then committing the split against the thin... Hoping that description makes sense...
You had me worried that something bad happened to you , thank you for the video a very nice way to start the year . Happy New year and in good health .
Dad showed you how to make shingles, but no lesson on the safe way of standing on top of the rickety bundles yet. Well maybe in another episode.....Happy New Year!
I love your videos... was thinking, isn't it about apple time? Have you pied any yet? Thanks for sharing all your know-how and in such an entertaining way. God bless you and yours.

Great video, my favorite part was about being discouraged of the time it takes to craft with wood compared to the time it.takes God to grow the tree.
So glad you're back. Happy New Year and thank you for coming back.
Going to and fro with your froe! Also, standing on shakes can give you the shakes! Great video!!

When making wood shingles, just remember one important thing. When all else fails, they's always good for firewood.
