Omg finally. An audio does exist!! You don’t understand how long I’ve been searching for something like this! I’ve been wanting to hear his Dmitry ever since I found out he did the reading!!
i get it, i've been dying to hear his dmitry since forever too!! the moment i stumbled upon this audio a few days ago i just started shaking screaming crying
@@Sara-zd5tm I think so. But for this reading, he might have just been asked to perform the role. That’s how it tends to go if I recall. I don’t think people audition for readings, but rather get asked to do them. But I might be incorrect so don’t quote me.
i love this! christy was THE anya/anastasia and derek was THE dmitry, but kelli and aaron’s interpretations are as equally good. kelli makes anya seem a bit mature, darkened and less optimistic (anya always seemed to have a bit of hopefulness with other actresses’ interpretations so this is quite interesting). aaron’s dima then brings this brightness that’s also beautiful (his interpretation i feel is quite similar to zach adkin’s).
@ThatGreenDayFreak That's now how it went. In July 2012, there was a private reading of the script for potential investors, featuring *Kelli Barrett* ('Anya'), *Aaron Tveit* ('Dmitry'), *Patrick Page* ('Vlad'), *Aaron Lazar* ('Gleb'), *Julie Halston* ('Countess Lily'), and *Angela Lansbury* ('Dowager Empress') reprising her film role. In June 2015, there was a workshop, featuring *Elena Shaddow* ('Anya'), *Mark Evans* ('Dmitry'), *Douglas Sills* ('Vlad'), *Ramin Karimloo* ('Gleb'), *Joanna Glushak* ('Countess Lily'), and *Mary Beth Peil* ('Dowager Empress') who would remain with the show through Broadway. In May 2016, the musical premiered in Hartford, CT, starring *Christy Altomare* ('Anya'), *Derek Klena* ('Dmitry'), *John Bolton* ('Vlad'), *Manoel Felciano* ('Gleb'), and *Caroline O'Connor* ('Countess Lily'). In March 2017, the musical finally debuted on Broadway with *Altomare* ('Anya'), *Klena* ('Dmitry'), *Bolton* ('Vlad'), *Karimloo* ('Gleb'), *O'Connor* ('Lily'), and *Peil* ('Dowager'). That said, *Tveit* probably didn't continue with the musical after the initial reading, because he landed a leading role in the TV series GRACELAND (2013-2015). After that ended, he was immediately cast as 'Danny Zuko' in GREASE LIVE and a new TV show BRAINDEAD, which both came out in 2016.

I can’t explain it but the way Aaron says “I didn’t tell you that” at 2:19 absolutely gives me chills…such a wonderful actor
