There is, but I factored in it not being so high and with the ranged attack being something the blight had over the armor. For such a difference in CR, the battles were surprisingly close! I’m looking forward to running the next series of bouts where there won’t be any CR discrepancies. Hope you enjoyed either way.
The Animated Armor didn’t have to dash either time on the second round the 25ft was enough to reach melee due to the Needle Blight being cornered that’s what’s so important about positioning in dnd I decided to bow to your ruling on the math though and made the Animated Armor Dash on the first two rounds Animated Armor: +4 to hit vs 12 65% chance to hit (11x0.65)=7.15 Critical (7x0.05)=0.35 Total DPR=7.5 Two rounds to kill Four rounds to kill due to first two rounds having to use Dash action Needle Blight: +3 to hit vs 18 AC 30% chance to hit Rounds one & two uses needles (8x0.30)=2.4 Critical (7x0.05)=0.35 Rounds 3+ uses claws (6x0.30)=1.8 Critical (5x0.05)=0.25 Total DPR over 16 rounds=2.13 Sixteen rounds to kill
It will be much more structured going in the second series. I’ve learnt a LOT about what works and what doesn’t, and from the next group I’ll be keeping everything to the same CR, or will be running separate combats outside of the main series to field some interesting combats, such as 2v1s etc… My main takeaway from this trial run is to keep the CR levels the same. That keeps things fair and interesting.
I'm excited for cockatrice vs imp
It’s going to be a good one!
It's all about the armor class.
It certainly is a huge factor.
i think you should've done the same thing you did with the rats, as there's a CR discrepancy even here.

Damn that second round was INTENSE
It really was!
Glass Cannon vs Tank! Let’s go!!
It was a fun one to run! Arena size certainly played its part in this one!

I decided to bow to your ruling on the math though and made the Animated Armor Dash on the first two rounds
Animated Armor:
+4 to hit vs 12
65% chance to hit
(11x0.65)=7.15
Critical (7x0.05)=0.35
Total DPR=7.5
Two rounds to kill
Four rounds to kill due to first two rounds having to use Dash action
Needle Blight:
+3 to hit vs 18 AC
30% chance to hit
Rounds one & two uses needles
(8x0.30)=2.4
Critical (7x0.05)=0.35
Rounds 3+ uses claws
(6x0.30)=1.8
Critical (5x0.05)=0.25
Total DPR over 16 rounds=2.13
Sixteen rounds to kill
Animated Armour will most likely win this tournament.
Might be a solid guess right here
really hope the imp is gonna win on the cockatrice, since the AA has immunity to be petrified
Very keen to run it. Both the imo and cockatrice have tricks up their sleeves!
The AA is also immune to poison though. Looks like it'll be an easy win for it.
I dislike how the format keeps changing tbh.
