SCP-3790 - "Department of Abnormalities"
Special Containment Procedures: The door into the stairwell leading to SCP-3790 is to be padlocked at all times, and a single guard is to be posted nearby to ensure no individuals enter SCP-3790.
By order of the Overseer Council, entry into SCP-3790 is forbidden.
Description: SCP-3790 is a structure located beneath the abandoned Port Superior Canning Company warehouse in London, United Kingdom. The only access to this space is down a narrow stairwell that ends in a short black door. The door is free of identifying markings save for a small metal placard just above the door handle that reads "SCP Foundation Department of Abnormalities".

Hello - so I've got a few comments underneath past uploads pretty much saying I only cover "surface level" SCPs - so I'm taking this criticism and looking for more in-depth SCP's to cover later on down the line. Leave your suggestions here please!
I personally love every single last one of your lectures. Thank you so much for everything that you do ❤️
Titania's Prison is an interesting one.
This is more of a challenge than a request, but SCP-835. The challenge is in the fact that it has a normal version, and a much creepier version with all the [DATA EXPUNGED] unexpunged, and I'm curious to see how you handle this gimmick
Maybe you can do some soviet related scps cause they seem cool
I don’t have any suggestions (yet), but I hope you’re taking care of yourself and taking all the time you need! This year should be a fresh start for us all, and I hope you’re taking it easy. Thank you for all the work you put into these videos that I tirelessly enjoy. I mean that. Stay safe ❤️

Foreshadowing of potential promotion?
Or could he be training new people for the 05 council?
Dr. Miller: I'm the council now.
perhaps this is because miller himself is an scp that somehow has knowledge on all scps. Its a theory the fans came up with, it would explain why he gives lectures on so many scps of varying levels on knowledge that even the o5 wouldn't know (the info ghosts are unknown to the living including the o5).
Therefore he could have been considered a high risk scp and gives lectures to d class before those d class are terminated.

LOOOL STOP!!
I feel like the deeper lore behind this SCP is that in a way this was like a precursor to the modern SCP Foundation. Like originally there was this mysterious Department of Abnormalities, which met its end but paved the way for the modern Foundation to exist.
You might be onto something. A 001 proposal mentions how in the 1800s the original foundation was set up by the American government.
Perhaps late into the 1800s as the US and UKs government and people become closer the UK accepted a branch of the Original SCP foundation to operate in the UK?
@@stuglife5514 I feel this could be the beginning a full on origins story. Thank you for sharing that information
Secure. Contain. Protect.
In of itself its pretty broad. They could‘ve secured and contained a number of dangerous objects and individuals. Perhaps the department of abnormalities was just one small branch of the early foundation until the risk and quantity of such anomalous objects was recognized and the foundation solely focused on those, becoming what it is today.
I love the idea of Ötzi being so abnormal, he is contained as an SCP.
Poor guy was shot and froze to death, now he's not even allowed to roam free.
Yeah but, who's In custody of the not-SCP Researchers Then? The Ötzi we know never disappeared
@@enderkatze6129 A fake, possibly?

The Ötzi might be a reference to the Fae Vinuvinex from SCP-4812.
@@sussybaka1095 Or more specifically, King Sarrus IX von Apollyon’s daughter who The Vinuvinex killed
The idea that the foundation would have lost/forgotten facilities makes sense. Big organizations often find they have abanndoned storage facilities or factories because it came up in an audit or someone digging through old files. Now compound that with redaction, amnestics and high employee mortality. I'm actually curious how they just maintain access to their own files for similar reasons.
Funny how all the abnormalities are being contained by a simple welded door yet there are so many complexities involved with containing the SCP's. There is something amusing about that.
This some how feels so... sad. Like a dead house covered by a layer of dust, and all that’s left are the ghosts that can’t leave.
This really reminds me of that one "courage the cowardly dog" episode, where he went door to door in that hair facility looking for muriel, only to keep finding what would be the equivalent to anomalies.
They weren't anomalies in that episode, just people being tested and experimented with different uses for hair. Even then it was just someone whose hair was made into a house shape for, "Hair For Homelesness", people strapped to a straps by their hair for hair olympics training, and then, people eating hair made into "food". Only episode that sounds like what you are mentioning is "Courage In The Big Stinkin' City", where he has to get a package from an apartment complex and in every one he checks are oddities and what you could consider anomalies like the little girl playing the violin who turns around and is all disfigured.
@@k.s.2935 that the episode!
All i remembered was the house hair and a girl playing violin, wasnt sure if it was the same episode or not.
@@Steel_ Yeah, I figured that was the one you were talking about.

Exactly what I was thinking lol
Is it bad that I'm genuinely impressed at how he pays attention to the temperature of the coffee throughout the video?
"SCP:Department of Abnormalities", as if the rest of the foundation isn't dealing with abnormal stuff
the whole skip is meant to be a sort of fridge horror piece. You have this abandoned facility that has a name that identifies it as a Foundation facility, but with a title doesn't make any sense (as you pointed out), and inside are weird SCP classifiable items that are firmly sealed away/missing, and have connections to other SCPs. It relies on your knowledge of other SCPs to really unsettle you as to how these objects got here , how were they sealed away, and why doesn't the Foundation know anything about them (or that this is something much bigger than it seems, but only with knowledge privy to the O5s). Also, the obvious 7th floor that is inaccessible.
Just imagine them explaining this place "so you know how there's that [redacted] at [redacted] that eats people? Well thats nothing compared to what we have locked in here"
Or as if the rest of the foundation didn't deal with abnormalities in the first place, but some time later this department was installed.
@@gabrielamaro1470 Id like to imagine that maybe a group of people somehow found out about the foundation and set up their own place but without a good way of contacting the foundation they just tried their best and some event took place having to do with one of the "anomalies" and that's how it ended up in it's current state.
It sounds likr a department in UK from the 70s that's really underfunded
“a single guard is to be posted at all times”
only one SINGLE guard?! yeh... that’s not enough
They could add a married guard too?
Maybe it's part of the containment procedure for one or multiple of the abnormalities being contained?
Maybe the presence of more than one person at a time causes problems. But I just pulled that out of my ass.
There's a lot of unanswered questions here but I guess that's kinda the point. The mystery of it, etc.
What's the worst that can happen. Seriously. Everything in there is locked without access to it. Bit weird but a single guard is enough.

Now what really puzzles me about this skip is the particular sealed last floor. Interestingly, the floor that seems to be locked up and prevented from entry seems to be the *7th.*
It's not the first time the Foundation encountered things related to a "seventh seal" and a "nonexistent seven".
Oh great, Scarlet King.
@@TheRealIHP Two things: the aforementioned King and SCP-2747.
There's presumably 10 floors according to the Clipboard though, and they're all listed as locked, so I would presume the floors from top to Bottom are least to Most Dangerous, and it would only make Sense to Lock the Most Dangerous ones away
Ender katze that’s where 2747 kicks in. The anomaly seemingly deleted the remaining layers.
@@sussybaka1095 I doubt it. I investigated the article itself, and the three locked floors actually link to other SCPs, which all make up entirely seperate buildings, in Japan, on the Moon, and the last one I do not know the location of
I’m surprised that the Foundation didn’t classify any of the other figures in the chambers as SCPs. Just one number for the whole facility.
Different facilities catalogue things differently. Some do it, some don’t
Actually several missing items have been found and given SCP labels of there own. Many of them are the more world ending type of things.
This whole facility is suspicious. 05 expressly forbid all Research and entry, yet posted one guard and a padlock as the Sole defense?
@@enderkatze6129 My headcannon is that this is a projection of the Foundation, like a shadow created from the real object. So it's dangerous if people were to interact due to the reality defying nature of SCPs contained within the foundation but its relatively self contained as in any breaches would not pose serious threats to the external world.
@@DaSquareful technicly makes sense, I suppose. but why do the locked floors link to other SCPs with the same label?

This article needs more to it. The foundation just finds something like this, explores it, padlocks the door and calls it a day???
It's as if theres something the 05s dont wanna dig up.
If we take the article at face value, whatever abnormality is locked in these chambers, they don't seem to have any predilection for getting out anyways, so the padlock is more for making sure no one goes in to change the status quo, as it were.
If the 05 council is hiding something, then that should be clue #1 that whatever could really be in that place, should never be disturbed. EVER.
That’s the point, though. There’s clearly something here that the Foundation’s higher-ups don’t want to talk about, so they’re trying super hard to keep it under wraps.

That reference to a "legal pad" really ought to be fixed in the original text: given this is meant to be in London, it'd be an A4 pad.
Huh. Thats kinda cool. I had never heard of that and had no clue there was a different name for it.
So, why is it called an A4 pad?
@@kari7403 Because its proportions are that of an A4 piece of paper, I'd guess. While the legal from legal pad is (apparently) of the US's "legal" size
@@kari7403 So an A4 pad is half the size of an A3 pad, which in turn is half the size of an A2 pad. An A5 pad is half an A4 and so on. SCP in itself....
@@kari7403 To expand on what the others have said, there's an international system of paper sizing used in most of the world. Think of it as metric for paper. The A-series (used for sheets of paper) is based off of a ratio of 1/√2, which is useful as if you divide a sheet with that ratio in two, the ratio of the sides of the resulting sheets stays the same. This makes a _lot_ of things easy, as it requires less special tooling to support different ratios, it makes shipping and storage simpler as everything is guaranteed to fit well, &c.
The older approximate equivalent of the legal and A4 page sizes in Britain and Ireland was called "foolscap", and you'll still find people referring to them by that name, but I doubt anyone under 40 would be too familiar with the term.
@@talideon ah, okay. Thag makes a lot of sense. Thanks! Kind of like why 2x4s of wood are called 2x4s. Thats actually really smart and useful.
I like it! An SCP Foundation department that the Foundation has no record of existing, thereby making it an abnormality in and of itself. Ironic. I would postulate that something happened that wiped every record of this SCP’s existence, and it was found by chance, possibly when they were attempting to contain something that escaped.
This is like a classic throwback to early days of scp. Before all this world ending stuff gushed in when the site got popular. Real esoteric stuff
I like to think SCP 3790 is a remnant from some sort of older version of reality, and the rest of the entries exist in our new reality.

Love your vids man, recently binged the whole lot. Your voice acting adds the perfect amount of creepy
The DOA is such an interesting concept to me. A dark mirror of the foundation that contained even more dreadful (or sometimes just bewildering) versions of exsisting skips (for example, in japan theres an entire panopticon full of cages containing copies of peanut). Although my favorite DOA skip has to be 5538 which is a reference to the holders series of creepypastas, which was the first creepypasta series that really got its hooks in me before I found the foundation (and the rcp, even if people dont like the staff of that site, theres some really good writing on there)
This has been my favorite SCP channel for years. Way better than the channels treating SCPs like their own personal "Get rich quick" scheme, such as some of the animated channels that are more ad time than content...then they spend even more time trying to sell merch as if they own the SCP content.. When the Lobotomy is Corporating :flushed
I really like how room 3 in the first floor is apparently empty but also locked while room 4 is not locked but clearly wasn't empty.
While it does say "safe", for some reason, it doesn't feel safe at all!!!
Reading more into this one makes it seem almost like it's where either the O-5 council or the ethics committee hide away things even they don't want to remember. There's an entry that mentions the Department of Abnormalities and it's about a little girl's room. What makes it anomalous is that you can't speak while inside of it, but what makes the entry terrifying is the realization of who's room it is.
The little girl who is the subject of Operation Montauk used to live in that room up until her seventh birthday. Everything about the room and everything inside gives the impression that the Foundation is doing it's best to deny to themselves that she's a person, but that room is the ultimate proof that a real little girl is facing extremely horrible trauma at their hands. She had interests, she liked to color, she liked to play Animal Crossing on the DS, it humanizes her in a way that makes her actual entry all the more horrifying, and the Foundation couldn't deal with this truth, which is why it's under the Department of Abnormalities.
6:10 World without Man? Been a while 🙂
I feel like this is an alternate-reality SCP foundation that was somehow sent to our world after some cataclysmic containment breach.
When you want to make your own containment site, but all you have are sheets to throw over things.
Just from mentioning Adam's Hatred and Apollyon's Crown it's pretty obvious Adam El Asem is contained on the 7th floor.
Department of Abnormalities? What is this, Lobotomy Corporation?
I’ve noted that there’s some references to the abnormalities in Lob. Corp., although I do not know if that’s intentional.
I'd absolutely love to see some more long adaptations of the SCPS! Infinite Ikea is like my fave??? I know you don't write them but I'd love to see longer stories from you!
This sounds quite tame and a bit odd; it sounds like an old foundation site from an older point in time. Only smaller than we expect from the Foundation.
This gives off parallel dimension foundation vibes, also that "mr.silence" gives off major wondertainment vibes even though he's not on the list lol.
It feels like if everyone just realized these things exist and everyone is just so used to it they report them like crimes.
just imagine having to be the police responding to people's random abnormality of the day lmfao. "yes mrs swanson we were here last week, we know your woods are haunted now stop calling every time some ghost boos at you".

"That's kinda strange."
*several agents burst through a nearby door*
"DID SOMEBODY SAY ABNORMAL?!?!!!?!"
So the Morning Star Blade from the Oroborus Cycle and the Crown of Apollyon of Adam El Asem. I wonder what Seth would say if he knew of it.
I couldn't remember where I had read about that sword. Thank you. All of these are references, I bet.
@@dfailsthemost Well, these are my guesses, since a few were written by Djkaktus.
Infinite Cold/Otzi: Both could be related to the SCP-4812
Crown of Apollyon: Mentioned on SCP-4840. SCP-4840 also have a door with connected to this department.
Adam's Hatred: I would guess related to Adam, mentioned on SCP-4840 to be the father of Cain, Able, and Seth. The First King on Man locked up on Titania's Prison. SCP-2932.
Morning Star: Oroborus Cycle
World Without Man: SCP-SCP-804?
Mr. Silence: W related to Wondertainment?
"Hello": SCP-3935 ?
@@natzo89 the mister silence one is a from a tale that has Dr. Adam Bright in it. Forgot the title though.
Today just got better
As soon as the crown was there, I had a feeling this was a djkaktus article.
Yup, scp 4912.
4812* oh and yeah, DjKaktus made it, great autor but regrettable moderator.
@@mariaj.bayarri8024 well he no longer a mod just a author
Last time I checked he had the moderator star.
@@mariaj.bayarri8024 when did you last check also he hasnt done anything as mod for over a year now stuff are handled most by the other mods in fact it specifically states he retired mod
I was hoping there would be explorations logs investigating some of the rooms, that would make this SCP more interesting
ayyye thanks for making my day Dr. Millar
You're welcome!
Placard name: Ian
Discription: exact replica of the Rock Island Auction house with a single lone figure wandering in it
His hat changes every time you open the door
What is this “disruption class” and “risk class” hokey pokey? Explain.
Well he just launched a new video about that go check it out m8
@@n00breconbr75 I did! And it all makes sense now!
I would love to see a short movie about the mtf team first discovery of this Department and the details of when they first identify the contents of each room.
where can i get a volgun coffee mug? or is that an scp as well?
Everytime i learn something new it becomes more terrifying. The implications of all this is mindblowing.
So, it's like a knock-off of the SCP Foundation?
No wait, RPC already have that idea.
OW
It's a non-existant Branch of it
i assume you picked that pfp because you know it makes people who know what it's from upset?
@@liamzakhaev who are you reffering to? and would you care to explain how it makes people upset?
@@enderkatze6129 the op
This SCP leaves me with more questions than answers. The object class s marked as "Safe", and that is presumably because every room is sealed off tight. But I would love to have heard about each room in detail. That first room with the violin in the corner.... Nothing about that sounds creepy or dangerous, but clearly there is something paranormal about it. What happens if you go into that room? What happens if you try to touch the violin? ETC.
Am I the only one who seriously dislikes the new classification system. Granted it's the SCP universe and anything should be expected.. but come on
I hope the SCP writers expand more on this concept of "Department of Abnormalities", it's very catchy to me
@Nobody I'll check them out, TYVM
