She survived the war same as Enterprise but no where near the fame. She was sometimes called "hard luck Sara" because torpedoes and other battle damage kept her under repair a lot more often than the more fortunate Enterprise which was sometimes called the "Lucky E". Not that Enterprise didn't take damage. Several bombs struck her during the Solomon's campaign but she never took a torpedo like Saratoga. Still, all that firepower at the edge of her flight deck is amazing. She definitely didn't start the war equipped with all that but the air threat quickly showed the need to substantially increase anti-aircraft firepower as the war went on.
