18:13 the basis of the "hanging out with only guys" part of his "being gay is easier" joke is predicated on the idea that women specifically are only worth being around if you're trying to sleep with them. Hanging out with men is the default in his eyes. The implication is that without attraction to women, there is no point in speaking to them. This is driven home in the "no more lies" part, implying women are machiavellan manipulators and men only put up with it to get laid. It is also the implicit logic of the "you can say [the d-slur]" joke, because lesbians are fetishized, because they aren't seen as "people who are gay" but as "vehicles for heterosexual male fantasy". These jokes are "funny" for the same reasons bullies laugh when their targets cry.

i think this is very similar to the concept of the “friend zone” which is essentially just men staying friends with a woman to gain something more. i’ve talked to a ton of women who have lost male friends because they did not reciprocate their feelings. i am sure it happens the other way around as well, i just personally have only heard of men befriending women in the chance that she will date him
ok can we appreciate d'angelo talking about how he used to find "did you just assume my gender" jokes funny? i feel like these days we have kind of a purity culture on the internet where we act like we've never once had a problematic take or whatever. it's ok to have been wrong in the past as long as you acknowledge it, make amends with people you might have hurt, and learn going forward! changing your opinion based on new information or a new mindset is a good thing!
I used to be in the "anti-sjw" crowd that laughed at there being more than 2 genders, laughed at assuming gender jokes, etc. when I was an early teen. Now I'm trans myself lmao

As an older person; older than Joe R (born in 1956) I will tell you it's NOT an age problem. It's a lazy privileged person problem. I have held progressive ideals my entire life. I continue to espouse, profess and advocate for all the "woke" causes - racial, gender, economic inequality, lgbtq+ rights and peace to name a few. Long life provides the opportunity to learn about the challenges that people face, to gain empathy and understanding for folks who are different from you; the only reason for any person to be an ignorant bigot is lazy selfishness. Please expect more from your elders, don't let lazy bigots like Joe R tell you it's too late for them to change.
Yeah, usually people don't want to lose comfort, in bigots case, the comfort of being the "majority" unafraid of making fun off the minorities and abuse of the privileges they made for themselves.
💯 YES, I'm somewhere around Joe's age, and I couldn't agree more. At the end of the day, Joe's just another bigoted conspiracy theorist, who's out of touch and thinks he's more intelligent than he is. They come in ALL ages.
Him thinking that fetishizing someone to the point of dehumanizing and objectifying them is not a form of hate is crazy. “No one hates gay women” like millions of gay women aren’t disowned from their families, sent to conversion camps, killed, harassed, and fetishized every day. People like him wear their ignorance like a badge of honor and it’s just so strange to me.
my girlfriends family wont touch her and wont let their kids touch her since she came out. they think shell give them aids. but yeah is so easy being a lesbian
this!!! as someone who has identified as lesbian for 3 years it is still SO HARD to say the word out loud because of how associated it is with porn :’)

I always remember David Tennant saying something along the lines of ‘it’s crazy that being asleep is something people aspire to’ about how ‘being woke’ is a term that gets weaponized against people wanting a more inclusive world.
The audience cheered when he called himself a heterosexual man, even though half of the special was him describing gay sex. That's respecting an identity based on self-identification.

This same crowd that’s like “lol race and trans jokes are funny, you’re just TRIGGERED” would absolutely lose their shit if you made a joke about their religion or about veterans. The cognitive disconnect is insane.
In my opinion, no one should ever make a joke about veterans if it's derogatory in the slightest. They deserve better than that, and we owe them respect. The rest of those things though are fair game I feel, as long as they're not overly nasty/inappropriate
Unless their favorite guy disrespects POWs. In fact it's so conditional the same people who threw a fit so bad about Pete Davidson making an eyepatch joke about a conservative veteran they inviteed him to SNL, were then making fun of that guy's eyepatch.

Joe Rogan is such a symptom of "guy whos never faced serious discrimination in his life insists that discrimination is fake and people are just being sensitive because hes gotten through life fine so far" and "guy who experiences backlash for the first time in his life thinks hes entitled to coddling and compensation because everybody else is wrong and sensitive and he is right" it's actually ridiculous how sensitive and entitled people like him are to throw a fit just because they cant say stuff anymore and think this is honestly a bigger crime against them than actual abuse, discrimination by law, and violent attacks without repercussion for the attacker is against marginalised people. Theyre really out here crying about not being able to use certain words anymore without being called a dick and call others sensitive for not wanting to fear for their lifes just because of who they are.
Good point. It’s often hard to see from another perspective like this in this intimate of a manner. But comedy is sacred, and in that nothing in comedy is. It never has been and never will be. Throughout every culture, every age, to deprive oneself of a smile is asinine. It’s not unfounded for something dicey to be ripped on. Ima black dude. Black jokes. Not that deep. Can it be? Yes. Does it always have to be? Should it be banned or some shit? No. Lmao
Rogan gives me the feeling where, you got older and grew as a person, you matured and kind of expected the people you once enjoyed to grow and mature alongside you, only to look back and see they only appealed to you because you were 12 and they are forever emotionally stunted.
@@pansepot1490 Honestly though. A lot of people, including Rogan, consider Musk to be a really smart person. They tend to believe that a person must be very smart in order to accumulate unnecessary amounts of wealth, but when you're born into wealth it doesn't actually take much to make more from it. I know good, logical people who nevertheless think Musk is a very intelligent person, but when pressed about it all they can come up with is "he's one of the richest people alive, so he must be doing something right, haha". If a random low-income individual made the same unhinged, idiotic Twitter posts as Musk and embarrassed themselves in public as often as he did, people would laugh, discredit them as stupid and move on. His inherited wealth and the success of people he pays to do his job for him are the only reasons anybody thinks he's anything other than the buffoon he actually is.
Right after D’angelo said he was skipping Joe’s segment on trans people I went “is it my turn to get discriminated” and he immediately started talking about China. Beautiful
That "men don't lie" line was so infuriating. As a gay man, I cannot even BEGIN to list how many boyfriends I had who have lied to me and cheated on me. It's so frustrating that he gets to say that and everyone cheers.
this video unlocked a memory of the time i was 18-19 and i dated a guy who cried bc i told him i didn’t give a fck about joe rogan and wanted him to stop talking about him to me
Jokes aside, there is so much hate in Joe's voice. Preaching about how we're all one, and then going on to yell slurs at the top of your lungs isn't comedy. It's hatred.
i think he's a bigot in practice as a white knight for bigots, but i don't think it's hatred that's the cause, i think it's laziness and arrogance i don't think he actively hates minorities, but that he hates the idea of being obligated to care abt them or their plight he's just so intellectually dishonest with himself and so incapable of self reflection and just so incapable of even considering that he might be wrong or hurting people or actually making society at large worse. he will be like this to the grave. it's be sad if I could be bothered to care about millionaire idiots like him
Speaking of Joe Rogan and water, ugh he's _so_ sweaty! X( &I'm avoiding anything mean about his chestical area. Btw he's on medical gender-affirming care - he takes T. Just pointing out the hypocrisy. But I know, I may as well note that the floor is made of floor.
I'm 32 and I SWEAR in the early 00s Joe Rogan was actually funny. And not just funny but he was openly arguing against misinformation and hate from grifters, religious zealots, and the like. He has become the person me and my friends used to watch him shut down. It's so f-cking disappointing.

It stems from Leadbelly and Billie Holiday, both making songs back in the 30’s-40’s about “staying woke”. *The lynch mobs come at night* , and Leadbelly’s song was about a specific one in his state and Billie’s was more about the atrocity in general not being talked about by the government. Both of them unsurprisingly, were hounded by the Klan and government for their songs that went platinum.
Being woke is anything that slightly inconveniences conservatives, or requires them to think the smallest amount and doesn't let them put on their shutters through life. Its pretty sad that things that should be universally true like treating people like they are people is considered woke now.
Every gay man thinks he would eat in drag race and every straight man thinks he could do stand-up comedy... may this show all men that they need to take all the audacity and give it back where they found it. The fact that you share that you didn’t always had the same opinions and views normalises this process of learning and growing from what you knew. A real great influence!
It's amazing that the thing that seems to finally be turning people against Joe isn't that he's been a funnel to the far right and conspiracy loons for the past 8 years or that he's just a bad person in general. It's the fact that people are realizing he's not funny and never has been. He had to become "cringe" for people to finally start caring about the other stuff.
He’s not right wing, he’s debated healthcare, climate change, systemic racism, gay marriage, weed and government regulations with well known conservatives (including a senator)
@fredstone4395 it's because of the bigots that he gives a legitimate stage and space for, often times over and over again. He is platforming them, whether he agrees with them or not
I'm being so serious when i say that it feels so nice to hear someone describe male pregnancy the way you did. completely serious, respectful and just saying it how it is. your calm intelligence is such a cathartic contrast to joe rogan and his fans. I'm a trans man, and sometimes, i consider having a biological child if i were to meet the right person. but it's unlikely even if i do meet that person, due to people like joe rogan further perpetuating the idea that we're just crazy freaks. hopefully, more people in the future hold the same opinions that you do.
My husband heard me listening to this, and apparently he feels weird about men getting pregnant, but once I said "female men can get pregnant," he was fine with it. I think his real hang up is biology and gender being used interchangeably, and confusing him. 🤷♀️ Oh, well. He's getting there.

This is one of my favorite responses in general. Our lives are all based on perspective. So saying “yes, and…” you’re validating that you heard what they said- as well as stating your validating statement. It works in sssoooooo many instances. ESPECIALLY when someone is not allowing you the opportunity to state your opinion or validate yourself. When we say “but” we invalidate the first statement. When we say “and” we validate both statements. People speak louder the less validated they feel!! Edit to add: this is a DBT skill that’s incredible to learn for daily life ❤
@@Meet-beepI agree in most cases but when it comes to bigots, the goal isn’t to validate them/show that they’re being heard. It's fascinating, I'm gonna find some analytical essays on it after this. It's interesting in the context of how it's used and perceived by black americans and black people outside of america. Also how non black people in and outside america feel about it. Some people like mr Rogan seem to really want to be able to say it (and the whole "n word pass" thing). Meanwhile many are completely against it, some regardless of race. The n word in relation to different languages is also interesting.
On the "gay men mountain lions" thing. As a woman, sometimes I seen unknown men like that. A threat. (# not all men, but like, the threats don't wear a sign) I think for some men, a man that might act towards them like /some men act towards women/ is a genuine deep down fear.
Oh 100%. I’m a “straight passing” gay man and have experienced it firsthand when a guy finds out I’m gay. They worry we’ll treat them the way they treat women, like a piece of meat undeserving of respect or boundaries.

I'm not that much younger than Joe - if you tried to dress as Hitler in the 80s in the US people would not have been cool or ok with it. There was a period in the seventies where musicians dressed up in German uniforms to be edgy but I believe people spoke up about that at the time (I don't remember the 70s).
My dad was super offended when I (back when we were younger - way before this current political situation) jokingly called him a cheese nazi. Because I had heard someone make that comment about people who are really particular about the way they slice cheese. My dad said he isn't a nazi of any kind, and was visibly upset about my joke. So I'm assuming people would have had a very negative view about nazi related stuff back in the 70's. My dad was still young at that time. The parents of his generation had been to WW2, so I'm assuming this must have felt like a very personal issue.
I mean it's obviously hyperbole mixed with the most shocking thing he came up with but it's also this weirdo "back in my day" idealistic nonsense when half these people would have something to complain about "back in the day"
It’s all ciclical. Lack of empathy = not understanding other people. Not understanding other people means you can’t make jokes that actually hurt them because you have no idea who they even are, all he can do is play the hits and have people clap over the fact they think others would be angry at this, not just exhausted and disappointed.

People crying about “wokeness” is just another way that these people can’t cope with getting older. People who truly lament the idea of “wokeness” are older people who are on the internet more than the average person, and they get tired of people “judging” them online for their outdated ideas.

Lmao where are all these concentration camps where gay people are being genocided? Seems like the mainstream media is doing a coverup!

This same crowd that’s like “lol race and trans jokes are funny, you’re just TRIGGERED” would absolutely lose their shit if you made a joke about their religion or about veterans. The cognitive disconnect is insane.
THIS
In my opinion, no one should ever make a joke about veterans if it's derogatory in the slightest. They deserve better than that, and we owe them respect. The rest of those things though are fair game I feel, as long as they're not overly nasty/inappropriate
Unless their favorite guy disrespects POWs. In fact it's so conditional the same people who threw a fit so bad about Pete Davidson making an eyepatch joke about a conservative veteran they inviteed him to SNL, were then making fun of that guy's eyepatch.

it's actually ridiculous how sensitive and entitled people like him are to throw a fit just because they cant say stuff anymore and think this is honestly a bigger crime against them than actual abuse, discrimination by law, and violent attacks without repercussion for the attacker is against marginalised people.
Theyre really out here crying about not being able to use certain words anymore without being called a dick and call others sensitive for not wanting to fear for their lifes just because of who they are.

Rogan gives me the feeling where, you got older and grew as a person, you matured and kind of expected the people you once enjoyed to grow and mature alongside you, only to look back and see they only appealed to you because you were 12 and they are forever emotionally stunted.
This made me think of Musk, who spends his days shitposting on Twitter like a mean and not very bright 13 yo.
My Black Millenial's thoughts and feelings about Nicki Minaj, Tamar Braxton, etc. This sh*t isnt cute/fun anymore.
When you grow up and realize the "cool adults" were actually horrible people.
Came here to say this. Thankfully, you described it better than I would have.

There. Get it now?
I remember a time when “woke” was about black people reading about their ancestry.
so true 😮💨 they really took a simple concept and ran a marathon with it for no damn reason
Those were the days.......
This.

The biggest power lays in that. Passing as a trans woman, as a trans guy, as a cis woman, and a cis guy all at the same time makes me all-powerful.
As a nonbinary person I was pretty confused by D'Angelo ngl in a 'that's goals' kinda way. And then a few videos into binge watching caught him stating himself clearly and it was all understood. Not trans just got hella drip
I mean, why couldn't he be FTM?
Also, his style is not that good.
@@the_j_machine2254 I mean, hes not though? I’m just pointing out it’s funny how people ASSUMED he was trans solely based on how he dressed, and then proceeded to spout anti-trans rhetoric despite the fact he’s not even trans.

This is one of my favorite responses in general. Our lives are all based on perspective. When we say “but” we invalidate the first statement. When we say “and” we validate both statements. People speak louder the less validated they feel!!

Watching your channel is always refreshing and has a grounding effect on me. Appreciate you a bunch.
Him saying that he "loves everyone" and then he singles out that he also loves gay men but that he wouldn't want to be surrounded by them and then finishing the show with the f slur is so ironic.
10:59 as a trans man, thank you D'Angelo for being such an outspoken ally because I get SO tired of people forgetting that non-binary and transmasculine people still can have a functioning uterus.
As a trans nonbinary person with (according to my conservative family) a "confusing gender identity", I deeply appreciate people like you, D'Angelo. Thank you for accepting and loving that people can just be people, no matter how "strange" we may seem. The casual way you express support for me and my trans siblings is refreshing and rare. Thank you.
Us, The Student Body: "Trust, we're legit"
great job on the quality daily uploads, straight banger after banger. it's a highlight of the day tbh, much love from jersey
0:50 'Comedic autopsies' bc the jokes are dead.
even the audience is dead!
"Ha ha weed" is a good summary of Joe Rogans entire comedy portfolio
"ha ha ha weed *insert a variety of slurs*"
Last time i remember watching these many new dangelo videos in such a short time was when he was in art UA-cam sphere and i just discovered his channel
That joke about Dave doing a podcast was fantastic 10/10. Get this man a Netflix show
d'angelo wasn't lying about those bot comments, holy hell they're bad. do not reply to them, just report and ignore
I genuinely can’t understand why people want to say the n-word or other slurs so badly.
A threat. (# not all men, but like, the threats don't wear a sign)
I think for some men, a man that might act towards them like /some men act towards women/ is a genuine deep down fear.
Oh 100%. I’m a “straight passing” gay man and have experienced it firsthand when a guy finds out I’m gay. They worry we’ll treat them the way they treat women, like a piece of meat undeserving of respect or boundaries.
Men will not care if I tell them "I'm not interested" but they will flee if they see I have any male accomplice. Women are merely property to be owned in their eyes smh
Everyday I barely have any time to myself and I’m so busy. Every night I unwind and look forward to a Deangelo video before bed. Makes me so happy
Bro you're from San Antonio?! Subscribed.
I’ve never been able to put this idea into words myself😅 THANK YOU 👏🏻
Cyclical
“His existence is funnier than any of the jokes he can come up with” is diabolical lmao
I love how shady you are but at the same time being SO right and on point.
You are one of the UA-cam channels that even before listening to your videos I give them a "thumbs up" because I know in advance that I'm going to thoroughly enjoy what you have to say. And you never disappoint. So glad that I discovered your channel recently when one of your videos showed up in my feeds. You're super smart, funny and entertaining!
People crying about “wokeness” is just another way that these people can’t cope with getting older. People who truly lament the idea of “wokeness” are older people who are on the internet more than the average person, and they get tired of people “judging” them online for their outdated ideas.
Sadly it isn't. There's a ton of young conservatives that are just as misogynistic, racist, ableist, transphobic, and homophobic as the 90's with new words. A ton of kids are really brainwashed to be anti woke and it's concerning.
I think what people mean is that “wokeness” can be a little annoying when for example, a “person of color” or someone who is “lgbtq” is chosen for any position just because of their skin color/sexuality. I think people are saying they want people to be chosen for things based on skill set rather than race or sexuality.
@@Leisun4939That basically doesnt happen and its just another way of repackaging misogyny and being anti lgbtq. No one is getting hired SOLELY for their identity except for rich people and their relatives
@@sponge4270"my discrimination isnt solely based on race and sex therefore it is okay" lmao white people should have used this in the 1920's and they'd be just fine I guess.
@@sponge4270 This may have been true in the past, but it doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. As shown in this article from the Washington Post, a Disney exec named Michael Giordano, Disney's senior vice president for business affairs, was caught on camera saying that they don’t hire white men for certain roles because they’re white men. Effectively saying that they do choose “people of color” for certain things just because of their skin color. Here’s a quote,”The message isn’t simply unspoken. ‘There are times when it’s spoken,’ he said. Asked how the message is conveyed, he said it could be as blatant as, ‘There’s no way we’re hiring a White male for this role.’ “ it does seem to be happening. It isn’t cool to discriminate in either direction. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
"NO MORE LIESSSS?!" coming from a man is crazy
What was that joke even supposed to be 😔😔⁉️
As we all know, women only be bisexual, eat hot chip and lie (/s)
@@straww_berryyy i'm guessing it's a "i hate my wife and women" "joke"
"I ALSO BELIEVE IN CRAZY PEOPLE!" im glad you believe in yourself, joe, self-love win
Omg thank you so much for making this, you don’t know how many “comedy” specials I’ve had to endure with my dad, it was so nice to laugh at joe rogan and not with joe rogan with someone for once
arborist sounds like arson and robbery at the same time
It's insane how one of the biggest champions of stand-up comedy is one of the most unfunny stand-up comedians ever.
He’s a white man, what do you expect lol
