@@stuppittyhed I...don't know where I stand on this, and it depends by what you mean by "moving on".
I do think rape culture allows them to get off scot-free too often, but I also think, and I speak as a man, an American, and someone that as a child has been abused, that people in the United States, and especially men, are too focused on the perpetrators over supporting victims. I think it rather disturbing how you have men express violent fantasies online rather than donating to RAINN or helping in more productive way. They don't have fantasies about murking predators, they have fantasies about murking. Heroic ones, I might add.
I like reading Punisher as much as the next comic fan, but I also think America has a problem with either ignoring sex crimes or using them as a mean to virtue signal via calling for much harsher...."retribution", and I think this is one part of the problem that Americans have when it comes to punishment, which is reflected in our justice system.

      Probably because she's bad too.
The fact that he was playing a character and she didn't(as far as we know) also muddies the waters a lot. I remember Zach Choi also getting thrown into the drama and announcing lawsuits that never materialized, and other people accusing Nick or various stuff that was never proven and went nowhere. It was incredibly messy and I don't blame anyone for not wanting to look into it. I did at the time, and pretty much the only thing that was clear to me was that they were both manipulative AF and went on to be even worse, Nick with his pretend fights with his husband and the unhinged character shtick and Stephanie with her disgusting "true crime while I slobber on 45 cheeseburgers" series. Some things are better to be left alone lol

Yeah, and legit so few people actually do the foundational check-in of "why do I think this about this person or action?" regularly. To the point where me prompting thought games on figuring out stuff like "why do you trust this person's opinion more when all you know is how they look and their name? why is this person more feminine/masculine to you? why did you not think this person can be this just because they are disabled?" etc. is seen as like mindblowing during equality workshops that I run.
Like my peeps, I literally do these kinds of figuring out what you actually think and why without judgement exercises so you can do it your entire life whenever you interact with people or media and you need to check yourself.
Especially because most of us aren't really taught how to recognise our own thought processes, attitudes etc always have a pattern and we actually have to actively want to change and do the change in our thought processes if we want to be more equal. That why attacking someone for their transness, weither its misgendering them or even equating their transness to their bad deeds doents make sence. Being trans isnt a choice, but hurting others is. Sunny's video only hated on her for being trans. All of Sunny's accusations came based off the fact she was trans and nothing more. It was same with Tati, both of them just got lucky in randomly accusing someone of being a predator with no evidence. It was pure chance that these things happened after these accusations. If he had insider knowledge that she did do these things beforehand he never provided evidence. Its straight out of the transphobe playbook to call everyone in the LGBTQ community awful things. Eventually you will be right about one person and then you basically give yourself confirmation bias to keep doing it again.

    • @CathysWorld383

All of us trans people out here collectively cringe when a trans person does something awful, because we know it’s gonna hurt our community as a whole even though it shouldn’t. It’s not fair to us.
The media always tries to spin it into propaganda against us.
So, I am begging people to leave being trans out of it, and always use preferred names and pronouns. Just like every other group of people out there, there are good people and bad people.
There are good cis-gender people and bad cis-gender people. There are good white people and bad white people.
But when it comes to ANY minority group, if a minority messes up, it somehow now paints us as a whole group bad? Make it make sense.

@@FallingIn2TheVoid that’s definitely misogynistic, but that’s a different type of thing. Being called a slut doesn’t strip a woman of her identity as a woman; it’s more like when people call women (I’ve noticed this mostly with black women and lesbians) they don’t like men or man-ish

@@FallingIn2TheVoid To piggyback on your point, because this community is one that appreciates nuance and I have few outlets for the following pet soapbox: We as conscientious people also need to rise above the trend of resorting to body-shaming about disliked or problematic men. Like, just because XYZ Male did something terrible doesn't mean we're not sinking to a problematic level if we make smolpeepee dunks at them. It's on par with calling a problematic woman ugly/fat. Like whatever everyone can have snotty opinions or speculations ig but it shouldn't be substituted in the place of valid criticism/discourse, it's just bullying. I think a lot of people don't realize they're being hypocritical when they do this to dudes but are against it in other contexts

@@Melissa-zh3zl It is a different thing, but it comes from the same place. When someone of a marginalised group does something bad, people often use that as a chance to attack their identity, whatever it is. The exact attack and the severity of the attack varies a lot, but it's a consistent trend.

It also isnt about taking responsibility because other are telling too but noticing your mistakes yourself and holding yourself accountable! The persons response to their own mistakes and their intentions behind why they do it i think is great tell of what the person is like as a person.

This is how you know that the person you're watching is mature enough to talk about their perspectives in life while being open to any corrections or changes, and the channel you're watching will always be worth your time and discussion.

I do think you had a bit of a point in the Tati Westbrook video (I think of that whole situation as similar to the Ava Tyson-Sunny V situation or the Creepshow Arts-Hopeless Peaches situation. The accuser was technically right in the end, but their evidence was lackluster and their motives were terrible). Tati's motives for attacking James were stupid and immature, and from what I remember, at the time, her evidence was extremely bad and came across as extremely homophobic (the whole "he turns men gay" thing was WILD).
However, I also 100% understand why you would delete that video. At the end of the day, whether Tati was being homophobic or not, James is still a predator. And if someone were to use one of my video to defend someone like him, I would delete that video too. Whether you were right or not, people would use the video for nefarious purposes or come to the wrong conclusions with it, so it was better to just get rid of it altogether.
