InspirAspir I went on to my launchpad cover in Ableton and turned the snap off and put 10ms of Fade In/Attack and already it sounds WAY better and professional. The samples all run smoothly. Thank you so much. I didn't know about this tip and also I never thought of recording your samples too. Thanks 🙏.
InspirAspir Please continue to create these types of videos. Your tutorial videos are getting better and more descriptive each time and as someone who is actively trying to learn Abelton and the Launchpad Pro, it's great and inspirational to be able to access this information. Thank You 🔥⚡💧 #Inspiraspir 5 Stars
special thanks to Inspir Aspir. I learnt Complete launchpad by watching your Tutorials. I am uploading my second Launchpad Cover later today. Thank you so much dude. ☺☺
Step 223456 : PLEASE LOCK AF and AE on any phone/camera !!! This will prevent weird light shit when the launchpad becomes bright as well as auto focus trigger when moving your hand. Thanks.
I literally can't do anything with my launchpad mini mk3. I tried for 3 days, nothing. When I pause in Ableton live 11, my launchpad's mode lights and everything are turning off. And I can't map to macro 1 at all. Please help!!
You have to set up the Launchpad in the MIDI settings. Open settings, midi, set your first row first column to launchpad mini mk3, and fiddle with the input and output
Ive seen covers were people are using multiple pads at the same time. Is this when they are making a mash up or they have the stems and can use different samples for the drums/synths? So if I'm correct you can't use multiple pads if sampling using this method correct?
I need help: When I press the recording button the song immediately starts playing (here: the song track at 8:57). And if I start recording after the song some lights have problems. I don't know what to do...
dennisvergel36 it's still not really possible. If you had an exact duplicate of the drums on their own, you could use phase to (kind of) remove the drums, but it doesn't work well with drums. Plus you don't have stems, so haha your only other option is EQ, but drums take up a lot of space in the freq spectrum, and you'll end up with a trash sounding song haha
Thank you so much for that. You just made an easy tutorial how to make a launchpad cover I was looking for for such a long time. I mean, I've got my Launchpad for Christmas, but since that time I tried to do something on my Launchpad and I just didn't know how so till now I've learned nothing (pretty ashamed of that). So, I'll try to do something again, with this tutorial, I'm sure I can do it. Thank you!
Also, how do you single out a certain instrument? I see people that press two of the same buttons during the beat but with different treble instruments, how do you do that?
The only way to isolate certain instruments is by downloading a song's stems. Odds are these are not available, but as I mentioned it can't hurt to do a quick search to check. If this is the case, the stems will provide each individual layer of the song which you can sample. Otherwise, you can't get a certain instrument (the best you could do is try and EQ the song to pick out each layer, but that isn't very clean). Hope that helps!
Hey! Awesome tutorial! I used this to help me with my launchpad S however now I recently bought the newest launchpad pro mk3 and I want to start doing covers. However, this new one doesn't have a user-mode and I can't seem to figure out how to use it like the way you are in your video. Are you able to help me out or anyone else that's having this issue with this or even do a tutorial on how to set it all up using this version of the launchpad?
I feel like this is a way better video on how to make better Launchpad videos than Kaskobi made actually. There was nothing I wouldn't have agreed with in some way, so that's great!
2:40 that little tab never appeared for me to modify. Sorry if I am just an idiot, I just got my Lanchpad a week ago, but does anyone know why it wouldn't show up?
I found this video really helpful, thank you so much other videos barely gave information on how to make a decent and good launchpad cover, this video I'd recommend if you're a beginner, like me. Also InspirAspir really does view his comments and helps the people in need as much as he can, so don't worry if you're stuck people here can help you... also check out his channel, he really does his best to help the beginners or these people to get better at playing with Launchpads, thank you for reading this and hope you have a good day making music with your Launchpad!! ;)
You can make a Launchpad cover with Ableton Live Lite 9 (the version that comes free with the purchase of a Launchpad), but there are a few minor plugins that can help you make light effects that are exclusively available to Ableton Suite. If you happen to have Suite, the MIDI extension device works wonders and is perfect for making light shows, but I wouldn't buy Suite purely to use that plugin. Aside from that, Ableton Lite should do everything you need
Really helpfull, one problem tho, on my Mini (MKI i believe) the buttons light up, the sample shows up in the drum rack to the corresponding button, but no sound... Is there a setting for the Mini that is different from the Pro? If anybody knows how to fix this, please tell! (When i start the song via the spacebar or clicking the playbutton, it does play, so i do have my sound on!) Edit: I had the chain selector thingy on the wrong page thing (so i guess you could say *the samples were not on the same page* as my launchpad pa dum tss literally tho)
I noticed that whenever I try to change pages after doing what you said that I change pages with whatever button I press on that row too Not just the arrows on the right but each button to the left of them and on. What should I do? I have a Launchpad MK2 if that changes anything.
Does anyone know how to add assign the pages on a Mini MK3? Since there’s up and down arrows for the MK3 to change through pages it’s not the same as for the pro
So, if it does not have any stems, then how can I make it feel interesting? Because then I can't have like, my right hand doing voice, and my left hand doing some drums. Because since they are together on an audio track, I can't just magically separate them. Would that type of thing be impossible without stems, or would I have to cut out both the singing and the drums, or something different?
You can still do covers, you just may be limited in the number of tracks you can use (which ultimately makes it a little tougher to create your project, but won't affect the final outcome) and you may be unable to use certain plugins (for example, the MIDI extension device used for triggering MIDI light effects at the touch of a button) Short answer, yes, you can still do covers in Ableton Lite
I'm using a launchpad mini & Ableton live lite, and I have a small problem, when i come to select the buttons E6:B6 it doesn't seem to work, I see the loading circle yet nothing happens. What should i do to try and fix this? Or is there any other way I can select the keys?
THANK YOU FOR CLEARING THINGS UP!! I couldn't keep track in the original tutorials! I am making a launchpad cover for a party and I was still confused. Thank you again! I was wondering what song is good for a party/b day party?
hey im using ablton live lite and a mk2 launchpad and i tried to drag the music to the audio track and it wouldnt let me put in. If you would reply thats great thank you and bye
Great video, but I just want to know... why do stems matter and how can I use them to improve a cover if I have them? Does it really make a big difference?
SkyLegendary yes because the perfomance is more impressive then. And if there are any small mistakes you wont reconize them that easy because other sounds are going on
Pretty much what was already said here ^^^ But if I can chip in my own 2 cents, you shouldn't use stems moreso *_just because it can make a cover technically more impressive_*. I mean sure, that's a great reason on it's own, that way people can appreciate the time, effort, and talent to perform your cover. But another way you can think of it is a cover is your *_live rendition of that song_*. Using stems when performing will allow you to add different elements of a song in different places, maybe sample a sound out of it's normal place, play a melody over a different layer of chords than is normal, etc. Basically it grants you more creative freedom. A lot of people seem to have the mindset that you *_have_* to use stems because technically it's more impressive. This is true, but I don't believe that's a good way to look at it. You *_should_* use stems because they give you more options than a normal audio file. Hope that helps
how u can make "piano like" lauchpad covers? i mean what d u show is just splitting the song partialy and some of pro launchpadder have like left and right hand play with different thing to do like right hand for the vocal and left hand for the chord/drums, perhaps you can give us some simple guide or by comment for this :) ty
Hey inspir, sometimes in an MIDI clip when I try changing the velocity, just a small twitch of the mouse could cause the velocity reach the highest, or the lowest. Does this happen to you too or is it that I'm just bad?
Please help me. 1- Is it possible to use custom lights in note mode? How to make? 2- How can I put a piano and play your notes (scale) in user mode? Sorry for the English. Thank you.
Man, this is so inspiring. Generally we prefer to take the first shot instead of the perfect one. Time is needed, practice is needed, thank you very much.
i am using a launchpad mk2 and i can play the song on user 1 but i have to change back to session to change pages. and is i click the side buttons which are the buttons that are normally for page changing, they just light up and dont actually change pages what to do? help me plz
Will what work in Lite? You can make a cover, sure. There are a few things you won't be able to do like assign MIDI clip light effects to a buttons press but everything I cover in this video you can do in Lite
5:55 extra tip: you can right click the sample in the drum rack and save it as default so the changes are there automaticlly ;)
That's extremely helpful, I'm glad you pointed that out
Pin it, bro! This is incredibly helpful, especially with a huge cover of a full song.
how do you go to page 3 (from page to pages pls help)
u have to map the chain selector 2:15

7:52 Hehe 😏😂
...
First launchpad i have ever seen by you so uhhh thanks
i hope someone helps me why when i pres a button on my launchpad it reconizes it but doesnt start playing
special thanks to Inspir Aspir. I learnt Complete launchpad by watching your Tutorials. I am uploading my second Launchpad Cover later today. Thank you so much dude. ☺☺

Thank you so much! This is so helpful 😁😁😀
Lmao
Ay. Thanks for the feature dude. Great tutorial as always!
You're welcome, and thank you man
4:33
Useful tip: You can also use CTRL + E (Command + E if you're on a mac) to split as well
Really helpful video and I love the editing :)
6:24 extra tip: after turning snap off, right click and press "Copy to siblings" That way you don't have to turn it off on every single sample :)
Important fact (I suppose): good sampling > good lights
Definitely agree here ^^^
i hope someone helps me why when i pres a button on my launchpad it reconizes it but doesnt start playing
@@Appierp Maybe the midi track isn't set on 'in' or armed to record?
Mr Chris thx but I gave up didnt find any fix lost a project I worked 5 hours on
8:51 is my favorite part xD
:P
yeah wtf
had me looking out of a window at that exact spot
Why am i thinking about HowToBasics?
i hope someone helps me why when i pres a button on my launchpad it reconizes it but doesnt start playing

how do you do this with a launchpad mini? lost at 2:36
Have you found a way im stuck on that now :P
sikici huso Guys you have to press all the eight buttons on the side
Do the same thing
I don't know why when i put a Song in the drum rack ir doesnt sounds :(
1:19 what button do you press to get that file thing to pop up. I understand what to do I just don’t get what buttons to press
This is very usefull tutorial, thank you verymuch! love your contents!
Thank you! Appreciate it :D
even though this video is a little old I still found it helped me start. Thanks for being an inspiraspirATION!
will you need the full version of Ableton for this ?
1 question. how does the drum rack work like wich button is wich?
You're awesome InspirAspir. I am going to use a lot of these tips
Thank you so much. Im kinda new to launchpad community and i didnt understand Ableton rly much but you helped me :D
How do you map pages on the launchpad x?
Does the light show works for Lite and Intro?
Hi Inspiraspir how do you make the lights using just the midi effect rack? Without using max 4 life?
How do you find the correct kick and snare of a song?
I need help: When I press the recording button the song immediately starts playing (here: the song track at 8:57). And if I start recording after the song some lights have problems. I don't know what to do...
So i am someone who likes to play drums and percs with the cover. Do you know any way to remove drums or instruments from a certain song?
BlackBird 2743 you have to download the stems of a song and separate it manually
Or you can learn straight up audio engineering and mess with the sound wavelength to strip the drums and synth tracks manually.
dennisvergel36 it's still not really possible.
What did you press at 1:17 to make it look like that? I just got Ableton 9 Lite and sorry if it's a kinda newbie question but plz tel meh
I'm on Windows 10
Right, got it, nevermind.
So at 2:35, are they the same buttons with my Pro Mk3?
Thank you so much for that. You just made an easy tutorial how to make a launchpad cover I was looking for for such a long time. Is this Ableton lite?
What is the difference between light and paid?
what ableton are you using???
please reply inspiraspir
you can do all of this in lite
nope not the chain thing
If I download a audio stamp it doesn't work for me HELP PLS
Hey! Awesome tutorial! I used this to help me with my launchpad S however now I recently bought the newest launchpad pro mk3 and I want to start doing covers. Man you are an absolute life saver I have been wondering for so long how to make a cover period, thank you man!
thanks you so much ! your tutorial is very easy and comprehensive (I'm french and it's good for me)
Hey, InspirAspir! Which version of Ableton should we use?

+1 tbh the most honest direct tutorial i can find
Great video so far! but how do I create the lights? What do I do to make them?
If you have Ableton Suite + MIDI extension device: ua-cam.com/video/5lktGAfSjCg/v-deo.html
Otherwise: ua-cam.com/video/EcBHAkOO2XI/v-deo.html
Can you specify how to set up the lights?? I'm rlly new so idk how to do....

Does anyone know how to add assign the pages on a Mini MK3? Since there’s up and down arrows for the MK3 to change through pages it’s not the same as for the pro
Is there a project file for this song?
when I press a button the sounds sometomes step one to each other, how can I fix it ?
I absolutely fell in love with your content. i ve learned so much in such a short amount of time. So i just want to say THANKS
how do you import the track? ive tried dragging and dropping and it wont work
So, if it does not have any stems, then how can I make it feel interesting? Because then I can't have like, my right hand doing voice, and my left hand doing some drums. Can you still do covers with just albleton live lite?
You can still do covers, you just may be limited in the number of tracks you can use (which ultimately makes it a little tougher to create your project, but won't affect the final outcome) and you may be unable to use certain plugins (for example, the MIDI extension device used for triggering MIDI light effects at the touch of a button)
Short answer, yes, you can still do covers in Ableton Lite
How do I make persice cuts? And how do I download the song? And where can I get ableton live
The instrument rack with 8 pages work for me, with when i do the same thing for the midi effect rack, it doesn't work. plz help
When I play my samples on my pad, you can hear a chop in between the samples. I've done the audio editing in which a .10 fade in and no snap.
Glad to hear it! Appreciate that you found this helpful
whats the program to put the sing that i want
and turn it into some other sounds
I heard "wassup my inspirations" and I think I died a little inside xD
Does it work for launchpad m2?
what did you use to make the music
This is like a review from the tutorials, and I like it.
hey im using ablton live lite and a mk2 launchpad and i tried to drag the music to the audio track and it wouldnt let me put in. If you would reply thats great thank you and bye
Finally ! We have a good tutorial !
I started launchpad and this is helping alot thx :D
everytime i push the page button in my launchpad mini mk2, it syncs with the pads and the pads also changes page
Great video, but I just want to know... why do stems matter and how can I use them to improve a cover if I have them? Does it really make a big difference?
SkyLegendary yes because the perfomance is more impressive then. And if there are any small mistakes you wont reconize them that easy because other sounds are going on
Nyrk But how do I use them in a project? Do I just sample one stem and let the others go throughout the song?
SkyLegendary you sample each stem on its own
Pretty much what was already said here ^^^
But if I can chip in my own 2 cents, you shouldn't use stems moreso *_just because it can make a cover technically more impressive_*. I mean sure, that's a great reason on it's own, that way people can appreciate the time, effort, and talent to perform your cover.
However, I think it should be thought of more like this: using stems will allow you to be more creative when making your *_cover_*. A lot of people seem to think that a cover is just playing the exact copy of the song provided (which I suppose is ok).
How can i drop all the stems at a time???

Hey inspir, sometimes in an MIDI clip when I try changing the velocity, just a small twitch of the mouse could cause the velocity reach the highest, or the lowest. Does this happen to you too or is it that I'm just bad?
It takes some getting used to - it's a little tricky to nail at first but eventually you'll get the hang of it
Hopefully I will. Thanks
how did you get the through space
Please help me.
1- Is it possible to use custom lights in note mode? How to make?
2- How can I put a piano and play your notes (scale) in user mode?
Sorry for the English.
Thank you.
How do you get the little blue hand
Can you point me to a part in this video that shows what you're talking about?
InspirAspir 2:07 you can see the little blue hand under the other buttons
If you have a MK2 Launchpad (like me lol) you need to press The Volume and the Record Arm Button at the same time to turn on switch pages. :3
Man, this is so inspiring. Generally we prefer to take the first shot instead of the perfect one. Time is needed, practice is needed, thank you very much.
@ 6:06 Is the Fade In Option in Ableton 9 live lite deactivated?
Nevermind i found it :D
i am using a launchpad mk2 and i can play the song on user 1 but i have to change back to session to change pages. and is i click the side buttons which are the buttons that are normally for page changing, they just light up and dont actually change pages what to do? help me plz
Your Launchpad needs to be in the mode you will use, in your case User 1 when you are binding the MIDI keys.
Thank you so much InspirAspir!
This actually saved my life. Thank you soooooooooo much!
I have a problem when I select the top right button and the bottom right button nothing shows up in the midi mappings
Jesus, I learned so much from this video. Thank you so much. Short and summarised
can we make eight pages in ableton live lite also?
Will this work with any version of Live? I only have 9 Live Lite
Will what work in Lite? You can make a cover, sure. There are a few things you won't be able to do like assign MIDI clip light effects to a buttons press but everything I cover in this video you can do in Lite
InspirAspir Awesome! Thank you
Where do I go to make a copy of a song in iTunes
