This was so interesting and I agree, Alston Coal Mining history should be mentioned as much as its Lead Mining history and Lime production. A lot of history in Alston.

Clive if you talk to the people around the Tinedale area and as far as Brampton you will find out the pronunciation is Tindell they seem to drop the tine and dale ( Cumbrian Dialect )
