I played the original for hours nonstop when I was a kid. It's so good to see there are still people out there working on this game. Think I'm gonna revisitit this classic again.
Played this and followed XWAupgrade for years. Haven't checked in a while and it warms my heart to see such astounding progress. Truly one of the best games I've played and it seems to be in good hands.

@@xwingfacility It won't be. Modern games are designed for the lowest common denominator and must have "the wider audience" appeal. TIE fighter was my first. nothing has beaten that. my only problem with XvT and XWA is they made the capital ships overpowered. Like your entire squadron would unload its proton torp and none would hit. you also could no longer get close to the capitals
We are looking for new opportunities so that it does not lose playability, but also that new players have fewer attempts to enter the game. Do you have any idea for some other good simplifications?
@@xwingfacility Well the very earliest X Wing, although a "simulator", had more of an arcade feel. It was easier to hit things! I don't suppose that observation is helpful, though.
@@CBfrmcardiff Personally, even today I have problems with aiming at the Tie-Fighter in the old X-Wing from 1993. There was no such facility as in the X-Wing Alliance, i.e. automatic gun convergence. :-) There are several ways to make aiming easier, but that's not our goal.

Impressive! This really looks and feels like a completely new game now! The new cockpit looks extremeley immersive, both practical and functional as well as sufficiently retro. There are two mission editors for the x-wing alliance. Both are difficult to handle. Creating an advanced mission requires a lot of time, patience and testing. Here you have links to both editors. Allied - troyed.com/x-wing/DLAlliED.htm, Yogme - github.com/MikeG621/YOGEME. As always, I recommend the forums.xwaupgrade.com/ forum where you should find help with using these editors.
Hello, very good video, what is your cockpit config for your xwing because I'm with the new 5.5 update and I can't find the same cockpit as yours, so I can't play in 2560x1440 the options only give me 1980x1024, however with my other games no problem displaying 2560x1440, could you help me with these two questions, thank you.
This is a cockpit made by us on the basis of a battlefront 2 cockpit. It's still being tested. If you have xwaupgrade 5.5 installed, leave the default resolution. Fix the graphics only in the graphics card drivers. The maximum resolution that can be correctly displayed is 1920x1080. others can be set but errors will occur.
Missions from battle0 and battle1 are practically finished. However, the number of changes in the "engine" (I mean ddraw) is so large that some work has to be started from the beginning. But it's all just better for all of us.
Great game and the update makes it even better! Except on my Win 7 machine, no matter what I do (ddraw update, platform update, etc etc.) EVERY time I click go to debriefing, the game crashes. So it will not let me complete a mission EVER. ARRRGGGHHH!!!! Anyone managed to fix this?
The gameplay in the film is shown using TrackIR. The cockpit without TrackIR looks like the photo from this link - ibb.co/3BRjTp9
