I liked it, it was different and I always appreciate a story from the perspective of a simple Guardsman. WH40k isn't all about metahumans, it's moreso the story of just us humans trying to have a future in a hostile galaxy that wants nothing to do with us. Another great rendition ABP, you do The Emperor's work.
This was a great one, I was worried the outcome would be the tragedy of the quadrupeds retaining their faith yet being purged, but our guy pulled through in the end and saved them. A nice bit of noblebright.
@@derigel9783 Yeah, but it wouldn't be as standout in my mind. Most of the time the good guy mutants get killed off, with euphemisms about the Emperor's Mercy seeing them off, which is interesting because it shows the cruelty of the Imperium, but rarely do we get to see honest Imperial servants interact with those post humans or mutants in a peaceful, benevolent way, and when we do it's kind of heart warming.
Tough and warrior-like centaur creatures as well as an incredibly hostile fauna ... man, if only the Orks knew about that. They'd abandon their ships and settle down on the planet, fighing endlessly.
This was by far the most feel good 40k story I have ever heard regarding morality. Since the aliens(genetically modified humans) who helped the guardsman were not destroyed like every other Xenos or mutant. I wish there were more aliens that could be excepted by humans.Oh well, tis the grimdark I guess. As always AB Prince, fantastic narration!
BRUH YOUR A LEGEND , ME & MY WORK MATE'S BEEN LISTENING TO YOU & YOUR STORIES ALL DAY AT WORK TODAY & THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR DAY FLY A LITTLE EASIER🙉🙈🙊
Shame for the lost STCs and shame for the commissars view on the second pair of legs, would have love to se a abhuman battlesquad of armored centours with heavy weponds, their muscle mass along would be a match for an orc by the sound of it. Thanks for an awesome read Prince.
They could move fellow troops around the battlefield and leap over obstructions. And they clearly have a strong sense of duty and honor. They’d make an excellent addition to the Astro Militarum! Why Ogrens but not these centaurs??
I find the story depressing. The Centaurmen men were loyal and are mutated less then others brought into the imperium but their circumstances and the fact that have been discovered so late in the timeline of the imperium pretty much dooms them even if they defeat the tribes of the Blood God. They deserve so much more. It's just sad. I love this short story, it made me feel.
They’re like squats but instead of being gravities bitch they made themselves into Astarte sized centaurs and have survived on a chaos infested deathworld for millennia. Also they have a stable breeding population otherwise they’d all be really fucked up mutation wise. So they totally could have been sanctified as Abhumans. Seriously they let fucking beastmen on the front lines for the emperors
Moral ambiguity is sadly lacking in this universe. It is good to see that so.e see grey areas and wider concepts of morality. The thought that all sides in this game are bad guys is a little boring to me so I enjoyed this as well as other stories where we see normal people just trying to survive terrible things, like the Gaints Ghosts stories.

I can understand why Floskan (No idea of the spelling) seems so naive as a gardsman. The writer did say he was from an agri world and it appears, to me, that he is quite new to the ranks of the Guard. So his brainwashing is still slight. Nut enjoyed this one. Thanks

I mean fair enough, they are in fact humans with 4 legs. It's hard to argue with his assessment. They follow the Imperial faith, they speak human language, and they at least seem a bit more civilized than most feral worlds, if I was an Ordo Malleus inquisitor I'd let them in, they're some of the most civilized mutants I've ever seen. Then again thats probably why I'm not an inquisitor...

Amazing Story Prince, courageous Guardsmen, and another failure of a Commissar; to many indoctrinated into the Church for my liking. (Can't spell Imperial word for it, auto-correct keeps fraking with me.)
That was a good one. Very interesting. Wouldnt the Mecanicus produce high g suites instead of geneticaly altering themselves? Seems like a easier solution. Just a thought.
Tbf, the guardsman was pretty sure the STC had been destroyed and had no idea what it was for, and the mutants were loyal worshippers of the emperor who had saved his life multiple times and were fighting chaos. A commissar or inquisitor might have no problem betraying them for a small chance of a usable STC, but I think the average guardsman would have made the same choice.
How's does Volsken even know about the dark age of technology, the colony ships sent by Mars, high gravity plannets and how atmospheric re entry causes friction and heat? He's just a Guardsmen from a backwater plannet.
Well it doesn’t mean they don’t have myths about the origins of man. I think that’s fairly common knowledge in the imperium probably taught by the church or just his homeworld remembers stuff.
