I’ve dealt with almost daily panic and anxiety attacks for the past few years. Really the thing that helps me when I’m having them is medication and breathing techniques. Holding onto ice helps! I was having a major panic attack. Hyperventilating, crying and screaming for a long time. My fingers were even drawing back because of the Hyperventilating. I drove to the hospital and I got out of my car and started walking. The cold air brought me down from it. I'm getting attacks now at 49 because I've got too much on my plate. Lost both parents in a year and work stress.

I just went from having severe anxiety to modarate and decreasing.. Here are a few tips that really helped me.
Don't lose hope. You are not alone
Exercise it really helps trust me
    Be socially active
    Find something you like
    Get good sleep
don't be tired/eat well this one is very important
    take constant baths.
    Talk to your self
dont be alone for a long time.

Aaron man, God has given us life to be happy. For a relaxed life without anxiety sit on a chair, back and spine erect, close your eyes and do nothing. Be still without moving and observe your breathing and body sensations for around 10-15 minutes. What is important is to be as still as possible.. Slowly negative thoughts will reduce. Do daily as per your convenience . This could be life-transforming if you desire change. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir.

@@virtualwhispershe's probably in outer space so I'll answer. Grabbing ice distracts the mind. It's an overwhelming distraction because your brain is processing if the ice is causing pain or let go. Or if it's providing relief. It's actually helpful. However, what Mr right was saying is it's not the best idea but rather the best idea is actually therapy and training your mind that there is no danger. It's the symptoms of panic is what makes people panic. Panic is the same feeling of being nervous, seeing a bear in the woods, going on a first date, being alone in the dark, public speaking, swimming with sharks.. it's the same adrenaline spike. If you tell yourself that you're not in any danger at all and accept the situation, your brain will actually be numb to it and won't process any danger unless you actually see danger.

From depression to derealisation(everything feeling like a dream) to anxiety attacks(short breath), to lump in the throat, I’ve had derealisation in the 5 past days, feels like you dreaming the whole time like everything and everyone isn’t real. It comes from overthinking and depression and triggers anxiety. Even now I have anxiety, I’ve always had anxiety just that it just became worse due to overthinking deep things. I’m slowly moving away from derealisation each day, thank God 🙏.

I've been suffering from panic attacks and PTSD from being robbed at gunpoint for 20+ years now. The panic began 6 months after the holdup out of the blue. I just had trouble catching my breath and my heart was palpitating like a bird in my chest. I was alone with a dog in the forest to top it off. Nothing helped in the doctor department. Tranquilizers help but they wear off. Unless you experience a panic attack there is no way someone can understand it. I got a lot of sympathy but no real understanding from the M.D.s.
When life is calm I am fine but when stuff happens I get overwhelmed and the adrenaline kicks into my bloodstream and off I go. I feel dread, fear, shaky and feel like a deer caught in the headlights...frozen in fear. Lately due to having to pack house and move 800 miles away is very overwhelming. Doing it alone adds to the fear.
This is what has helped me to date. I keep chamomile tea on hand and feel it helps me. I put 2 teabags in one cup of boiling water and let it sit for half an hour. I also use Valerian tincture. 10 to 20 drops in a shot glass with water does help. It tastes bad but it works on calming the brain. Sort of a Xanax effect. Both can be found on Amazon. Eat healthy and try to read positive books. Even a chapter takes my mind off the panic.
Alcohol has some effect but not a fix. I prefer to take magnesium and Vitamin B supplements which nourish the nerves. Sleep helps. Running helps if you like jogging or bicycle. One doctor told me to use the panic energy till the adrenaline is gone from my blood.
You are NOT alone. Try my natural remedies. I tried Paxil and almost had a heart attack from the heart palpitations after one pill! Being around good friends and loved ones is very important.
Stay strong and stay positive. You are not alone, so when you feel like crap remember that.
Take care! Greetings from Montreal 🇨🇦
I have met many people with PTSD and panic attacks. Many are helped by sharing. Talk it out. Write it out of your mind. Surround yourself with positive supportibe friends. A pet helps. I have a "therapy" Doberman who helps a lot. Any animal will be a good energy in your life.

Mantra-type meditation , if done regularly, is an amazing anti-anxiety practice. There are other types of meditation as well but personally I like to go with the mantra type. You can basically just use any sound as your “mantra” during a mantra-type meditation. Like Sanskrit ( I think they’re Sanskrit anyway) sounds like “Om” or “So Hum” or ANY sound you wish in fact. Just pick a sound. Sit somewhere in a relaxed upright position, you don’t have to sit in a semi lotus lotus (legs crossed) position …you can just sit on the couch or a chair or in your car seat, whatever. I actually even do it lying down in the morning quite often because I wake up with incredible mind bending anxiety and I can’t even get out of bed until I do some meditation. And it works.
So just sit (or lay) there. Close your eyes. Begin repeating your chosen sound (“mantra”) to yourself silently. In your head. Not too fast. Leisurely. Anytime a distracting thought comes into your mind while you’re doing this, you just let the interrupting thought go by like a cloud passing by in the sky, you try not to get stuck on it, you don’t hold onto it, but you silently go back to whichever sound you have chosen for your mantra. And just keep doing that. Soon you will notice that you have less interrupting thoughts and your mind goes to a more quiet and still place. The mental chatter which actually causes most of your anxiety will start to dissipate. (The Buddhists called us mental chatter the “monkey mind”.) You will begin to experience what is actually a state of pure “being” rather than an anxiety-provoking state of mental chatter and awareness of self and ego.And that’s when the magic begins. That’s when the anxiety melts away. It’s not just a cliché… if you do this regularly you can actually experience states of “bliss”. Yeah it sounds like a cliché but it can happen believe me. Anyway, practice this every day for at least 15-20 minutes at a time to start with, preferably twice a day such as morning and evening (or whenever you please), and try to increase your time with it. Try to work your way up to an a half hour at a time, then 45 minutes, perhaps an hour twice a day and you will be amazed at what happens. Just do as much as you can regardless of the length of time. It will help you even 15 minutes twice a day. It gets easier. You will look forward to the times when you do it. Turn your phone off or whatever so you won’t get interrupted. It’s your time. It’s a cumulative practice and the more you do it, even if for brief periods of time, the more benefits you’ll get from it and the better you will get at it, and the deeper more quickly you will be able to go into it. I have had some incredible meditative states. A few of them were pretty much life-changing. It’s an amazing practice. I took the ‘official’ Transcendental Meditation course when I was in high school many many decades ago and was lucky because it was only $75 then. Now it’s over $1000. Which is criminal if you ask me. Because this is a type of meditation that could help so many people and basically put the pharmaceutical industry with its neurotoxic anti-anxiety etc. drugs out of business. Again, it’s basically a technique you can just teach yourself using any sound you wish as a “mantra”.I’m guessing if you Google mantra meditation technique there will be either descriptions of how to do it and it’s not complicated at all it just requires practice, and/or UA-cam tutorials about it. Mantra meditation is not the only type of meditation but it’s the one that I prefer. It’s the one I always go back to. Breathing techniques are also helpful and you can incorporate the breath into a mantra meditation. Peace, people. Try it.

@@silykely1 I’m a Muslim. Not sure if I can share it with someone who isn’t because my main problems decreased when I started worshiping which I haven’t always done, so I do pray five times a day, read the Quran. I don’t get on Facebook, Twitter or other social platforms where it can be depressing to spend time. I don’t go out to bars and clubs where it can be depressing to be too 😂
I know my lifestyle may sound depressing per say but I find a great reward to believing in God and worship. I find great satisfaction in knowing who I am, where I came from and where I’m headed.
I used to do Volunteer work for the ARC before Covid19 hit.
There are a lot of haters and racists out there, I don’t pay attention to that neither.
I’m a UA-cam addict, I love watching history, cooking, and politics videos.
Politics can get very frustrating at some point as well so I do go on a News Fast sometimes and especially during the fasting holy month of Ramadan. Fasting is excellent for the mind as well as the body.
I remembered now as I’m writing that I do a lot more to cope with hardship than what mentioned above, for instance thinking about good situations is substantial when I’m trying to get past a bad one:
as soon as I start thinking, a smile comes to my face and the bad situation I’m trying to forget is almost half forgotten.
Last but not least, I cope the way most of us do, personally the Spiritual aspect has saved me from A&D.

I guess, The instant cure for anxiety is to understand the fact that there are infinite amount of possible outcomes in this universe and our brain only thinks of a handful . A bad outcome can become the means of a good outcome in the future. Just like that a good outcome can become the means of a bad outcome. For example, you lost your job (bad thing). But then you got a new job which is better ( bad thing led to a good outcome.) It's an endless cycle. So just go with the flow and don't think about it . 😄 Goodluck.

We have found in our family low vitamin D. Please have the doctors check yours. This can result in panic attacks and mental health issues. Even if you think you are getting enough because you live in a sunny area, it’s not true. And get tested before you start taking vitamin D so you get an accurate reading because it doesn’t just kick in suddenly. Taking vitamin d won’t cure this but it can help. Good luck everyone!
