My long-term plant collecting goal has always been to hybridize philodendrons. I have a golden crocodile pushing out it’s first flower currently so i need to start researching how to store the pollen! If you ever want to make another sciencey video like the TC one, a hybridizing one would be super sick and i would watch it 100 times
I work at ecuagenera. They have tons of philodendron hybrids coming out right not, and I’m sure more on the way.
If I could have any fantasy cross it would be Monstera Thai Con and P. verrucosum. Perfection would be if it had more hardy leathery, split leaves combining the coloring from both to be giant dark green, red, and white spotting and streaks. I wouldn't even care if it was a vine or as a giant bush.
The billietiae x hercules is really nice looking. I've never heard of philodendron hercules. So that's new to me.

I do have to say, I’m quite impressed with the amount of Billie hybrids popping up!! (I think that’s low key people saying Billie over Spiritus 😉)

If they follow the naming rules, then the first name in the cross is the seed parent (mother) and the second is the pollen parent (father). Mother is usually the dominant part in a cross.
Is there any kind of page to look up parentages for aroids?
i'd looove to see a caramel cardinal hybridized with a black majesty. if i can get that rich caramel colour in matte and with the leaf shape and growth pattern of a black majesty, i think i'd die happy.
I said it on the last video, but it bears repeating: dark lord x gloriosum would be the sexiest plant ever. I’d also be interested to see dark lord x variegated Burle Marx because of how I picture the leaf shape ending up plus the variegated Burle Marx’s manic bushy growth pattern would make for a very unique looking thing.
Forget the dark lord, most of them are barely black. Go with a majesty or a royal queen instead, those get way darker. Even a black cardinal if you want it to grow more compact
P. Revolution - super hard to find (but not that expensive). Its a multiple cross with some Erubescens and Distantilubium in there. It's oft confused for P. Atom or P. Dejavu but its way less bushy and just way cooler I think.

Philodendron Billi crossed with the Atabapoense keeps coming up but nothing with the Hercules ...like not one. Actually, I cannot find a Hercules on its own either. Is there another name? I have a Sharoniae baby and so far has not been easy to size up. I would guess it is not an easy propagator.

Impossible hybrids I'd like to see is Pelargonium 'Leamington' x Monstera deliciosa, Pelargonium 'Ken Lea' x Philodendron squamiferum for the varieagation/s. Euphorbia tithymaloides x Epipremnum aureum (to make the first one more easy to deal with and give the Aroid a pretty way of growing.
I got to be honest. None of these wow me like the OG hybrids like mcdowell, glorious, and splendid

Id love a zz raven-monstera Thai-Con hybrid. Beautiful glossy green leaves that slowly darken to pitch black as it hardens leaving only the cream variegation to contrast, id call it Monstera Starry Night.
I just want to clarify, but the order of the plants named in a hybrid (plantA)x(plantB) indicates seed/mother x pollen/father, right? Because I imagine people buy the reverse of what they’re looking for and end up being disappointed with the end result of the appearance of the plant..
