I have been stitching for more than 30 years and always learning something new. Love your floss tube. Frogging instead of ripping out......cross-stitch language. The frog visits us all at sometime. Looking forward to your next floss tube. I love 28 count lugana and stitching 1 over 1.....Happy Stitching!
That was fun watching you and seeing what you are working on. I wanted to say that if you are feeling a little adventurous, you can even play around with RIT or other fabric dyes for some of your fabric. It is a lot of fun to come up with colors of fabric that you like and want to stitch on, and you can get lots of help on You Tube. Happy stitching!
I’ve been cross stitching 40 years, and still learning new things! I think you would like a magnet board to help with stitching. Michaels or HL have them. Thanks for your first flosstube!
Hi Amanda. I just came across your first flosstube. Good for you to take the plunge! You began by talking about Emma Congdon and I happened to be stitching one of her designs - the one with the narwhal on it! I was smiling. I’ve been stitching for quite awhile and I learn new things all the time watching flosstube. One of my favorite flosstubers is Jenn the caffeinated crafter. Also Adventures in stitching, bernstitches, and lots more. Happy stitching 😊
I am a new stitcher as well. I’ve finished two smalls but apparently am not learning as fast as you because the backs of my third project is just as messy as the first! I do better with less color changes. I hope to learn how to not jump around so much when there are a lot of color changes. I enjoyed your first video and will watch upcoming episodes. I recommend Nicole Spohr if you haven’t already discovered her. You’ll find great tutorials and projects on her channel. Good luck with your new hobby & adventure!
I just found your Flosstube, and am so happy I did! I too, live in the northern Shenandoah Valley! It’s a beautiful place to live. ❤ Loved seeing all of your projects. I like to stitch on higher count Aida’s and 28ct and 32ct linens. I don’t care for evenweaves due to how they feel in my hand, but I do use them for full coverage projects. Can’t wait to watch the rest of your videos! Take care and happy stitching!🙂
So great to have stumbled across your lovely floss tube! I’m a new-ish stitcher too. I started with 14ct/16ct Aida but then tried a 28ct linen and fell in love working with that fabric. I’m currently kitting up my first ever sampler pattern which calls for 36ct linen, eek. We’ll see how that goes. Happy Stitching! 🧵
I have found cross stitching to definitely be addictive. So much to learn and challenge myself. Agree once a piece has taught you what you needed to know there is not necessarily a need to finish. Practice does teach. I’m learning right with you. Love the goose pattern and colors. Welcome to FlossTube! 😊
So cute ! I totally understand the struggles ! Of the beginning but there is a lot of help out there! Oh I laughed so much when you said: that is going to go on the needles soon 🔜 I can tell that you are a knitter 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 looking forward and follow your journey! I’ll recommend grinding the fabric or buying gridded fabric what ever you prefer ! At Joann’s in the sewing section there is a water soluble pen that I love ! Good luck new friend ! And welcome to Flosstube 😊🎉 DMC FLOCHE is like 1.5 thicker than regular DMC, I actually have a project by works by ABC that looks similar to this !
Thank you for the video. If you want to see the santa pattern finished, watch Fun With Cross Stitch. For the lace, you can do it on that cloth. Just pick your favorite flosscolor, and it will come in the floss you named. the Needle Point Joint in Ogden Utah carries it. When starting to cross stitch, aida fabric is the best way to try unless you have a lot of half or quarter stitches. If those are in your pattern, try even weave and leave linen cloth until a bit later. JUST remember you are in this to learn and have fun.
Oh my gosh, I am doing a handful of what I assume are 3/4 stitches on Aida and wish I had the forethought to have considered the fabric. Thank you for the suggestions. It is a huge help!
Welcome to Flosstube. Your video was great and it’s so nice to see how much you are enjoying this hobby. I wish you lots of happy stitching. It’s fun to continue learning and I look forward to your next video. Linnie (SABLE STITCHERS). ❤
As a fellow stitcher I have a suggestion to help you not have so many mistakes. Find the vertical and horizontal center of your fabric and use a nylon grey toned invisible thread to mark it and then grid your fabric every ten stitches in both the horizontal and vertical directions. Yes this takes some time to do but it’s a time saver in the beginning because you’ll make far fewer mistakes and have to frog much less. Happy stitching
Great first video, welcome to the world of flosstube. I’m a fan of stitching with silk but unless you have an unlimited budget it’s something to be selective with. Make a working copy of your chart and mark off as you go, if anything happens to it you can make another one if you use the original then you may have to replace it. Happy stitching 🧵
Love your flosstube. You made me laugh with your learning curve. We all started someplace. With your counting are you marking your pattern as you go? Make a working copy and mark as you go, you will make less mistakes. Keep going and 123 Stitch is great but dangerous if you get to carried away. They have great fabric.
Ok. You’re adorable! 😊 Definitely mentioning you in my next flosstube. Have fun! I knit, quilt, cross stitch, crochet if made to…. I own an estate sale company and always find fun stuff at my or others sales. If you start getting into stands and hoops - I can send it to you (I’m in Illinois). Just cover shipping and a few bucks. I love sharing what I find for lots less than what people ask for. Looking forward to the next video! 🎉
Welcome new tuber, I been watching floss UA-camrs to learn cross stitch. I am working on my first project bought from Amazon a kit and not a fan so far on 11 count Adia. I have purchased my first PDF download pattern from Etsy and I'm looking forward to start that soon once I have the 14 ct. Adia and floss etc... Love how you started your journey.
I’ve just discovered your channel and thoroughly enjoyed stitching along with you. So much pleasure is hearing a New Cross-stitcher talk about how they are enjoying this wonderful hobby. You are well on your way! Looking forward to more episodes. I also have a channel but on a break due to a bereavement but I’ll pop up again sometime in May. Have a lovely rest of the weekend. Karen x. (Ps I’m a South African living in the UK)
Hello - I started stitching 1 year ago.. 1 st one was on a dark blue Aida and it was super simple- the word snow in white floss- my favorite right now is lugana - 28/32 ct. it comes in the most beautiful colors- my next project calls for 32ct linen so I am going to try that next.. thanks for the video 😁
That is certainly starting to make sense. I am approaching the queen of hearts a little different now and can see a major difference in occurrence of errors. Thank you!!
The easiest fabric to use when you start is 14 count Aida. Sorry to see that you started with a huge cross stitch instead of a smaller project. good luck on your next project!
Hey welcome to floss tube.. wonderful first video! This is the best community! ❤ The first person I learned anything from was Teresa little Stitcher.. she has a great tutorial playlist. Her first project was a full coverage! I also learned a lot from Karen the needle bug. And I'm also learning from Karen how to do hardanger now. I used to tie knots on my back to when I first started too, now I just do a pin stitch most of the time.. or I will bury the floss under my x's on the back. It makes for a much neater piece that's not bumpy on the back when you finish it. I love 123 Stitch, I usually kit everything up from there because her prices are good .. and they also have fabric calculators to measure how much fabric you need for your project .. they are so helpful! Can't wait to see your next video. And just so you know, I wish I had someone there for me when I started out so if you feel comfortable enough and have any questions you could reach out directly anytime. Happy stitching!💜👏
I also start BAPs (Big A$$Projects) when I start a new craft 😂 Sulky 12 weight thread is a fiber I like stitching with. It gives close to two stand coverage using one strand.
Love the bravery in sharing your new adventure and love for cross stitch! You're gonna be a pro in no time ☺I'm a 28/32 count Lugana girl, but when I want to splurge, gimme all the 36 count Fox & Rabbit 🤩
I think the counting comes easier with practice. You’re going great! It’s so awesome that you’re just jumping right into flosstube too! I’m looking forward to seeing your progress in learning a new hobby! I said the same thing when I started at the beginning of the pandemic. 😂

I loved your video. You have such a sweet calming presence ❤

Always fun to see someone thrilled with cross stitch. The more you do it the easier it becomes. Go girl!!!!
Welcome! Love your cross stitch projects!
Welcome down the rabbit hole!🕳️

Thank you. I believe in letting something go that doesn’t bring you joy, but this art certainly does.
I hate ripping out, so I count two and even 3 times 😂😂
I have learned that I really need to just slow down!! So literally counting over and over has helped a little . . . 🫠

Great first video ❤️❤️
Thank you! I am looking forward to more.
Your video was great! Try making a copy of your pattern, and highlight as you go...that helps me a ton!
I will certainly be doing this! Thank you!
The 14 count is Aida.

Thank you for the recommendation. I may have to do that if my eyes keep deceiving me.

I lived in Harrisonburg many years ago. We love that place. You need to go to Waynesboro and check out the stitching place down there!
Oooo thank you. I stay in Waynesboro every summer! I can’t wait!
Ok. You’re adorable! 😊
Definitely mentioning you in my next flosstube.
Have fun!

Thank you so much for the introduction. It sounds like you and I have all the same hobbies. If I am not creating, I am at a thrift store!

Hi! Thank you so much! Once you find Etsy, I feel like you'll find your art style in cross stitch. There is so much there!
It's great to have found you!❤ your intro made me giggle!

Wow thank you for letting me know. I am a little afraid to go beyond the 28 count. I will be sure to check out lugana.
Aloha Amanda! I find if there is too much space between the designs/ motifs I make a lot of mistakes too. I hope that helps. Mahalo , Bev

I am starting to appreciate Aida, for sure!!
Look up kreinik for special threads ( pearl, metalic ) also beeswax help with low count fabric
Thank you for the suggestion. I have just started waxing my thread after wondering why it was shredding to bits.
I am new to stitching too. I have a UA-cam channel too. Welcome to the addiction. Lol

Thanks for the recommendation and patience in checking out a nervous newbie 😂
Welcome to flosstube!
Thank you 🎉
fellow shenandoah valley girl! welcome!
Hey!!! There is no place I would rather be.
I think the counting comes easier with practice. You’re going great! It’s so awesome that you’re just jumping right into flosstube too! I’m looking forward to seeing your progress in learning a new hobby! I said the same thing when I started at the beginning of the pandemic. 😂
Thank you! I already ripped stitches out of my new project 😂. I am hoping my videos reach someone struggling like me lol.
Welc0me to Flosstube. You are a breath of fresh air. Keep on stitching!
Awww thank you! I love it here!
