WWF St. Valentine's Day Massacre: In Your House took place on February 14th 1999 in Memphis. The show's main event featured a steel cage encounter between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon; if McMahon wins, Austin must give up his WWF Championship oppurtunity at WrestleMania XV. This match also featured a huge WWF debut that shocked fans around the world.
The WWF Championship is on the line when Mankind defends against The Rock. Billed as the final bout of their storied rivalry, Mankind vs Rock is a Last Man Standing match. Intercontinental Champion Ken Shamrock defends against Val Venis, and D-Generation X members Triple H and X-Pac take on The Corporation's Kane and Chyna.

" Ken Shamrock stops a Money Shot, something his sister couldn’t do. "
😂😂😂
The part where Vince falls off the cage and bounces as he crashes through the table. What a sight to behold.
My favorite thing about The giant coming to WWF is that he was billed as "No Gimmick Needed... PAUL WIGHT!". After 2 weeks he still had zero crowd reaction so "WELLLLLL IT'S THE BIG SHOWWWW!"
😂😂😂
Yes that is funny he was Paul Wright no reaction so well he now The Big Show!
He went by the name "The Big Nasty" for like a week lol
@@michealhunt6607I remember that. Then the "Big Nasty Bastard" then wellllll it's the BIG SHOW!
Well Paul wight isn’t that threatening, I mean who’s that? Walter Whites brother?!
Vince taking that insane bump when he gets his head bounced off the top of the cage. That's how far Vince went to entertain and he deserves a ton of credit for that.
Seeing The Giant coming to WWF was symbolic if you think about it. Other than X-Pac, Paul Wight joining the WWF was a sign that things were changing for the better. Big Show was smart to get out of WCW when he did.
Yup. A former multiple-time WCW Heavyweight Champion defecting was a huge coup for the WWF.
Honestly him leaving WCW for the WWF started a little bit of a trend of guys leaving for the WWF. Jumping the sinking ship for the better. There is a debut in August that will never ever make the WWF the same again
X-Pac, Big Show and Jericho were the biggest jumps. You can say the Radicalz, but it took them quite a while to gain traction after Eddie's injury, if at all.
dont forget the Dawn of a New Millenium in summer.
@@michaelreich4827Not really. They feuded with DX their first week, then turned on Foley and feuded with him a tiny bit but mostly Too Cool and Rikishi. Then at WrestleMania Benoit became ic champ and spent most of the year as the ic champ, when he wasn't, he was having ppv main events with Rock over the WWF title. Eddie got featured more the night after Mania when he won the European title and got with Chyna. They all hit the ground running, and Benoit and Guerrero never fizzled out.
The table bump from Vince was brutal!
The constant push of Jeff Jarrett is a complete mystery to me
i think its mostly down to him being a good worker. but yeah, it is a bit baffling that he was pushed so long across multiple different eras and companies. i never thought he was a draw at all
He was tight with Russo
I think his dad had connections @@peanutbrainstudios7348
I saw jarret do a job at my local highschool up in Canada 😂
i mean it was the mid card. Owen was with him and fans want to know why he wasn't getting a better push
During the Tag Team Title Match, Jerry Lawler made mention that Owen considered Jeff Jarrett to be a great tag team partner because "Owen was not wrestling with shadows."
One of my favorite PPVs of 1999 I will always remember Vince McMahon flying off the Black Steel Cage through the announcers table
The nostalgia this brings. I still have St. Valentine's Day Massacre from February 1999 on VHS 📼. Oh the junior high school memories 😢.
Yes I still have this VHS
One of the better intro packages to an attitude era PPV, and that's saying something.
I remember this PPV feeling like a really big deal at the time.
Up there with Over the Edge 98 & WM X-Seven
i can't believe how much reliving the war has made RESPECT the big boss man
dude just shows up and delivers 24/7
Blue Meanie had one of the best medium large man moon saults ever
I remember watching this at my brother’s house and completely losing it when Stone Cold hit the floor first. I enjoyed the heck out of this PPV. I was dang near in shock when The Giant showed up, was definitely not expecting that.
WWF starting to steal stars with noone going in the opposite direction is what ended the war really and made it clear wwf had won. With the popularity wwf lost post war, they should have released a few wrestlers for WCW to keep things interesting, promising midcarders to wcw and take them back after WCW develops them
with the exception of Jeff Jarrett leaving later on when WCW was going nowhere quick
Its here! The one and only PPV I saw live at the Pyramid! Was a 14 yr old young man and had an absolute blast!
The Pyramid was really a dope venue man
*I love how when Austin & McMahon start fighting in the stands and heading up the steps the security guard has a smile on his face while Austin & Vince are heading his way while looking like he's having just as much fun as the fans are.*
Another underrated aspect of Paul Wight's debut is, for a few seconds, it seems to lock in a double main event for WrestleMania of The Rock/Mankind (unfinished business from their match having no winner) and Austin/Big Show (revenge for costing him the Mania main event), only for the surprise finish of the cage panel giving out to sow the actual seeds. A low key good job there to make the finish work even better!
I’m going through a rough time rn. I turned on notifications because this series, while it isn’t a nostalgia trip (I wasn’t born during the Monday Night Wars) is entertaining and one of the things that helps my week feel like it’s a little better. Thanks for everything, brother!
😊
Bro, c'mon. Knock it off. If you're going through a rough time, UA-cam is probably not even on your mind. Stop attention seeking.
@@TheOddOne666escapism you tit.
@@TheOddOne666 strong display of insecurities by feeling the need to virtue signal in the youtube comments
@@TheOddOne666Yep. People who are going through a hard time are desperate to talk about the hard time, and this kind of therapy is doing the one thing they don't want, avoiding the issue.
The WWF was on top of their game!
You really got to give Vince credit here for taking that beating. Especially with that table spot where you could have legitimately broke something.
This is basically a one match card, but it's one that elevates the PPV as a whole from mostly forgettable to "Huh, that is interesting."
I was excited for this because it's when Paul Wright joins the WWE, and what an introduction!
He actually did break something, his broke his tail bone when he landed in the table so yeah big props to Vince for finishing the match with a broken tail bone
I was in the crowd that night and the biggest Pop and reactions were definitely during the Stone Cold and Vince Mcmahon match....however the Chyna match and the hard-core match also got major Pops. It is still one of my fondest memories
A two match card
This is the why he will always be the no.1 villain in wrestling, the evil boss character humilllated and tormented alot of the talent but he also got his ass kicked a bunch, vince was okay with being the other receiving end and that made him entertaining.
Its why stephanie never worked as an antagonist, she was just invincible and will never receive any karma at all while burying the talent.
For all the non-stop bitching and moaning of the marks on the internet, vince mamahon was one of the biggest talents in the WWF peak, it wasnt just rock and stone cold but also his character that largely contributed to the victory of the WWF.
A lot of people say Vince was never a wrestler but, I'd like to see those people take those bumps. 😄 Good times.
It's amazing how an entertaining main event can warp your view of the entire ppv.
Finally! One of my fav. Got this on PPV as a kid, recorded it to VHS, so i watched it repeatedly. Love it!
I always remember this 1 for the black version of old big blue, but after watching this series I just noticed that they used the regular cage just 2 weeks before this on RAW for HHH vs Kane.
rock getting hit by his own chair shot brought a very welcome comedic kind of thing to the match. It wasn't just brutal moves, it was also funny things. Amazing
Man, Vince's fall looked pretty gnarly. He landed right on his back, probably knocking the wind out of him, and his head bounced when he hit the table. Rough.
I think he broke his tailbone.
The commentary in the shamrock match was gold, thank you for the laughs😂
We're getting closer to Over the Edge. Chin up boys, because it's going to get hard soon.
Why’d you have to remind me?😔
Is it time to invent a Paul/Giant/ Big show heel face counter if he does it a lot in this period of time
Dude between now and December he must've turned 4 times
It still counts@@ryankeefe2102
I loved the intro to this PPV, The cheesy love song over footage of Austin and McMahon's feud.
I'd love to see a video on best PPV intros
The time it took me to watch this video, Paul Wight went through 5 face/heel turns. Great video as always!
Only 5? Must have been having an off night.
I'm never forget knowing the outcome but still watching a live tape of this Monday right after school. Such an epic ending to a crazy show and a great review as always! 😎
Got to admit seeing the bumps Vince takes are insane.
I literally just had brian surgery. I'm here in the hospital just watching this. Thank you so much. This helps a lot . Thank you
Get better soon🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I wish you a speedy and full recovery you're going to be ok you got this
I remember actually staying up to watch this live on sky sports back in the day! Seeing paul white come through the ring was mindblowing!
The effort you put into these videos is absolutely amazing.
Can’t thank you enough for these videos.
This was pretty much the show that got me back into the fandom. I quit in 96, and by early 99 I couldn't ignore the obvious buzz around wwf anymore, I'd watch highlights on Sky on Sat morning and this seemed like the biggest thing ever, and I gradually got hooked again.
We used to get Smackdown on SkyOne on Saturdays back then?
@@arostwocents Sundays too from what I remember, starting around 10am or 11am I think. Superstars, Jakked/Metal on Sunday, smack on sat
This was thing about the attitude era. Even if the matches weren't good the TV was. It was a proper show with twists and drama and all.
This was the first PPV that I remember using my old dial antenna TV to watch (more like listen to commentary while trying to make out what's happening on screen between all the static). Nostalgia right here. Keep up the awesome work, Bios!
This is awesome! Made my day, I remember watching this PPV as a kid. It was my bday and had a huge party at showtime pizza with all my friends from school and then after I had choice to watch this or get a n64 rumble pack. Of course I chose this and when I told people at school the next day that the giant came out from under the ring nobody believed me. Was basically the last days I remember being innocent and happy. Month after this my parents split up and I moved and never saw any of my friends again. Brings back old memories and feelings of a better life.
Same, it was my birthday and I ordered it on ppv from
SKy sports in Ireland My 12th birthday
RIP Matthew Perry
I can remember this like it was yesterday, I had it on VHS!! 1997-1999 wrestling will never ever topped in my nostalgia filled opinion
Been waiting for this. Finally caught up watching this series, now I have to wait each week for the next episode 😂
yessir and its my birthday
4:45 "Who is this power from beyond, though?" Hehehehehe...foreshadow.
I'll never forget this Valentine's Day weekend. The day before, our school had a televised band booster where we played "Heart and Soul." The same public access channel where it was broadcast was where we picked up this PPV for free on our old analog TV. Granted it was in black and white, but I remember it being an awesome show.
This is the ppv that got me to become a full time wrestling fan.
I love how you talk about this as though kayfabe is still a thing. It makes it special to have wrestling talked about like this, and as I haven't watched PPV for about 2 years, I fully bought into it again watching this video. Your style is superb telling the story and nothing else.
Massive nostalgia here for me. Vividly remember this one.
This PPV marks the last for the old cage before a new one would be used hereafter. Great review!
This was one of the first WWF pay-per-view I've seen. My cousin had the St Valentine's Day Massacre vhs tape. The only two matches I recall are Goldust vs. Bluedust(due to Goldust not having a counterpart to his color of gold before) "You will definitely never forget the name hack BlueeeDust." and Mr. Mcmahon vs Stone Cold Steve Austin with the big suprise at the end and how the bell never rag for the match to officially commence. Overall, a great pay-per-view to reminisce on. Keep going with your content Wrestling Bios!
I enjoyed this one. Thank you Wrestling Bios!
Your content is amazing, somehow you make the most entertaining era of wrestling more entertaining. Thank you wrestling bios from all of us that lived through this era of wrestling
Matches like this prove mick is an absolute madman when it comes to putting himself in pain during a match
That "slap me" part lives in my head rent free.
Fun Fact: This is the last In Your House PPV until it was brought back years later.
No it wasn't. It was Backlash.
@@jknight1984You beat me.
@@jknight1984no it is, it says it on Wikipedia. Backlash replaced it.
Actually they started to promote the 1999 Backlash PPV as "Backlash: In Your Show", however sometime before the show took place the In Your House branding was dropped.
@@DBoy38huh, for real? Interesting.
Thank you so much for these each week and the ones where we're lucky enough to get 2 in one week are just epic. Jam on sir
Thanks Wrestling Bios! You deliver another video!
My birthday had been made and now its a jam up day!! Thank you wrestling bios 👍
The OG Hardcore title's reputation is what it is, but this and the Headbangers/Crash Holly at the playplace or wherever that was were the best hardcore title matches WWE ever did imo... love this matcg
I loved this ppv as a kid. I used to watch the main event and copy it move for move with my action figures.
As always you done another amazing job
Man been waiting for this one man 🙌🏻💪🏻
The iconic WWF ATTITUDE ERA, it's Nachos, good when fresh out the oven but not as good the next day or in this case this era in wrestling was fun but now we see it had flaws.
Oh you beautiful Wrestling Bios. Sunday evening just entered chill mode.
I remember cheering so loud when Vince fell off the side of the cage and onto the announcer’s table. I definitely hated him back then 😆
One of the PPVs I remember watching live, the end of the cage match was brilliant.
Awesome intro!!! I love the remixed version of Stone Cold's theme 🔥🔥🔥
cold beer in hand... let's go!
Ah yes the beginning of Big show. Also that bump from Vince looked really painful damn.
A wrestling bios PPV on my break? Ayeee lets go
I don't think I woulda paid to see the same match over n over again at a PPV
Love your videos man
So looking forward to seeing the Big Show's run. Legendary wrestler.
No one can take us right back to the piques of that era... than wrestling bios.... 💥
This, rumble 99, king 98 and wm17 will always be my fav ppv
Vince hit that announcer table perfect though. Kudos on that. Didn't even look.
Man I saw this an had to click fast this is the first PPV me an my family watched an ordered LOVE IT.
Awesome Video😎😎😎😎
also, 8:56(ish) -- ill admit, the "Ryan already finished Val" bit only got a Slight Smile out of me...
...but then laughing into the next line, "sorry", and Restarting that line gave me a full chuckle xD
Waiting on this one for a while. Mind my mum buying it on box office and recording it on VHS and taking the tape to my pals for the Friday night sleepover. Good old days
Once I found out Paul Wight was in WWF, all I kept thinking was that he needs to watch out or he will Vader out...
Just what I needed on this rainy day
Football and Wrestling Bios. Hell Yeah
This was my favorite ppv as a kid. I remember going to the mall and buying the vhs with my birthday money. I thought it was a really good card.
12:11 Thank you cameraman! :)
I was there. Great show.
Another awesome episode of Reliving the war WWF st Valentine's day massacre was a great PPV stone Cold Steve Austin Vs vince McMahon was crazy Vince's bump off the cage and through the spainsh announce table was insane.
I watched this PPV today then came onto Yt to find this lol the Mankind - Rock feud in late 98-early 99 was really good. the Halftime Heat match was great as well
Damn. A fresh botchamania and now this. Good Sunday thus far hahahah
This was the very first PPV I saw as a kid. I still have it recorded on a VHS tape
this was the first ppv my parents got for me.
The WWE Debut Of The Big Show!
The back bump on that table Vince took is brutal!
I thought that hardcore match was awesome.
agreed
I was at this show and let me tell you...when they hit the Mississippi River....the Pyramid erupted
I remember this is the last ppv with the In Your House branding following Mania and some early posters for Backlash 99 they dropped the IYH branding and just name the shows like Fully Loaded or Unforgiven without it.
Gotta watch the PPV first, almost finished. Then I'll come back to watch it.
The Steel Cage match saved the PPV.
And so begins weeks of "What the hell do we call The Giant?".
Crazy you uploaded this video as I was just finishing rewatching this on peacock today.
I still really like this pay-per-view, even when it first aired.
2 funny things that I always notice
1.When Billy Gunn is special guest referee there's a moment when I believe it's either Shamrock or Val Venus are coming down to the ring there's a shot of Billy Gunn with his arm around Howard Finkel and Fink looks super uncomfortable and it looks like he tells him "get the hell off me" 😅
2. When Vince goes thru the Spanish announce table that one commentator falls back on his chair in super slow motion, and stays on the floor for a good while 😅😅.
19:01 Rock singing is always hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂
This was so good as a kid watching this I remember it so well
