  • In this video I fix the pesky air bag warning light on my Xterra's dashboard. I had the codes read and was informed that my front air bag impact sensor was bad and needed replacement. Turns out, this is a common issue due to the location of the sensor and its constant exposure to elements and oncoming road debris.
    I have purchased the part from NissanPartsDeal.com (part # is in the video).
    Once you complete the procedure, you may reset your air bag light following a procedure.
    Air Bag Light Reset Procedure: • How to Reset the Air B... .
    Or you can just drive it a couple of hundred miles or go through several engine start/stop cycles and the computer will reset itself.

    If only every car repair video on UA-cam was done this well! Thank you for showing specifically how the connector works. I've spent half my lifetime dinking around with weird connectors trying to figure out the secret to get them to release.....LOL!

    Thanks for the video. This is a recall item now that they will do for free. I’m getting mine done today. I wanted to watch the video anyway to see what the issue was so thanks for the video 😊

    Just got the part from Hart Nissan in Virginia and it took a month to get it! I live in California. Price was good and they ended up having issues with their supplier, warehouse, got a damaged part. So I waited for the good part and one month later I have it. So one might want to check first to see if the part is in stock before ordering from anyone. It came to $158 shipped.

      Just ordered one from Nissan Of Richmond (Virginia). They told me they are trying to VOR (vehicle off road) the part in which it bales them to receive the part faster, so they can ship it to me.
      Part + shipping = $158.80
      Been looking around at other sites, anywhere from $150 to $260. I even found some sites that said part is discontinued………./

    Although that is a pretty expensive part, I think getting it from Nissan is probably the best choice. An Amazon knock off part could have pretty bad results.

    My Gosh... some prices are crazy at Nissan dealer.. like some are stupid expensive for something simple but then some are so cheap for something more .. .like last year I bought a new brake line running from master cylinder to the front passenger brake caliper so its pretty long line and it was only $14 ... the guy at the dealer was checking few times to make sure that was the price as even he was surprised LOL
    Good luck as well replacing it

      Yes, like $130 for that sensor mounting bracket is insane! I just repainted it. Thanks for checking out my video, Stas!

    Guess up North you might need to pressure wash engine compartment to help reduce salt damage to everything.

    The one on my '16 Frontier doesn't look like that one, and is only held in with 1 nut. I need to pull it out and check my part number, I guess??

      Yes sir, or you may call your local Nissan parts dept to verify the part number and check the price

    hello, is that the only sensor on a frontier? cause dealership charging my son 1800 dollars. seems i can do it myself with your video.

    • @MaximumDIYGarage
      @MaximumDIYGarage  9 місяців тому

      No, there are multiple sensors. If they read the codes that should be able to tell them which one of the sensors needs to be replaced.

    How did the dealership diagnosis the issue? Did the use an obd2 reader?

    • @MaximumDIYGarage
      @MaximumDIYGarage  Рік тому

      Yes, they did! I have a simple one myself, but it just gave me an air bag code, they have a bit more detailed one that told which specific sensor was bad. Cost me $80 to diagnose.

    What justifies a piece of cheap metal bent and shaped to sensor for $120 which has zero technology, moving parts or any real engineering to it?
    Greed- Yeap, that's Nissan and their dealers. Thank God for 3D printing and everyone should be learning this in the future how to operate 3D printers and make our own parts for pennies. instead of hundreds of dollars.
