I have to add my thanks to the many who have commented below. I've had the airbag light flashing for a couple of months now on my '06 Pathfinder (I know, safe, right?) but haven't found the problem until finding this video. Once I looked through the grill at the crash zone sensor, I saw: 1. the sheet steel cover was not installed over the sensor, 2. the sensor was corroded so badly there were 2 large cracks right through it. I ordered a used sensor on Ebay at about $60 US and when installing it last night, discovered that the cover had been installed in reverse leaving the aluminum sensor body exposed to catch all the road salt and spray through the grill opening. Anyway, long story short, the new one went in easily, I reset the light, and it's off now. Thanks for the video!
Thanks carquestions for the great explanation from beginning to end. I have a 2010 Pathfinder and a few months ago my airbag light started coming on. I went through the diagnostic exercise and found the problem to be the CZS. I sourced the part on eBay for C$157 and it arrived today. THe biggest issue is getting the old one off!! Lots of grinding but finally got it off. The new one was on in 3 minutes and then went through the reset directions by turning on and off. It worked perfectly!! Light is out and I assume the airbags will function properly now. Thanks again. This saved me a lot of money for sure.

@@carquestions do you know where is the exact location of that sensor sir?
I tried with 2010 Nissan Pathfinder v6 4.0l ,i bought a brand new sensor from the dealer,i did the reset with the car key, nothing work
Need to get codes asap
It just happen to me. I just called Nissan with the same issue and told them about the recall. I was told the same BS from Nissan. It all about money for these automakers. They need to own it and
take responsibility for this BS!!! Looking at the video the labor is not hard. Com on NIssan!! :-(
You could always file a complaint with NHTSA - that might cause some problems
@@carquestions Called the stealership for this part. They want $385? Crazy! Going to see if I can find online cheaper.
@@hollowaymiles did you resolve the issue? Did you replace with original new or used part?
Thank You very much appreciated
Glad it helped Glen! cheers from Canada
Having that problem now on my 2012 Nissan Xterra. In WV.
Let me know how you make out - Cheers!
I have a 2013 frontier with the same problem, airbag light flashing, did the 3 step method. worked, but the light came back on😠😠
So I guess is the sensor?
Yep - you got it right - replace sensor
What to do when lights just stay on, np flashing, even when driving juat stays on
Scan it for codes is what I'd do Tom - let me know what you find - Cheers from Canada!
@@carquestions ok,ty my man
What is the name of the part please??
Front airbag sensor
My truck is a 09 Equator. Now I need to fix the super mushy break peddle
find the leak and bleed the brakes
Nissan’s is like that with their “should be a recall”items as I went through it with my frontier making sure I contacted them each time but they made the decision that I wasn’t a good enough customer to worry about, so what are you gonna do all you can do is not buy any more Nissans
No truer words have been spoken Miss - cheers from Canada!
Nissan Norway wanted 680$ for this part..... They never heard of any recall either.
I guess Nissan Norway can't read their own company memos - or they are what we call in Canada - idiots
I got a used part off ebay...if the light stays on, even after I reset it, bad part?? Or maybe something else? Thanks
If the code hasn't been wiped out - you need to do that then see if it comes on again and points to the front sensor - if it does - bad sensor
I am on my 3rd one for a 2012 pathfinder. They just rot with the salt.
I hear ya - pure bad design all around
@@carquestions It's amazing. The part now was $212.00 with tax. Here in NYS salt is a bitch.
I know this video is old. Just go to another dealership, Some dealerships are real Aholes.
I must agree - Cheers from Canada!
