One thing to note about Adam Smasher is that Mike Pondsmith (the original creator of cyberbunk and its characters) has said that Adam Smasher is a "high functioning" cyberpsycho. The guy is for all intents and purposes a cyberpsycho, he obsesses over cyberware (considering it vastly superior to organic or natural parts of a person), is ruthless and brutally violent, but he exhibits a level of control that pretty much no one else has been known to have, this basically allows him to keep things under control until he chooses to let go at whoever it is he is tasked with taking down (or alternatively chooses to let go on). When people (particularly Arasaka) hire him, its with the understanding that he will kill anyone and destroy anything, he doesn't take people alive and normally doesn't leave much behind of those he kills.
@@icedquokkaAdam Smasher is pretty much evil incarnate. Arasaka sends him when they don't care about subtlety and he is known to mow down innocents just to get to one person. He was an absolute misanthropic psychopath before he was given the armor platform, now he's just happy that he's able to carry bigger guns and explosives to kill a lot more people.
@@warbacca1017 yep, that's the terms of his contract with arasaka that he likes the most. They basically give him free reign to cause as much death and destruction as possible so long as their objectives are met
whats more tragic was that the moon was no longer her dream. It was to be with david but he did not know this and told her that "she still had a dream to stick around for" when that dream has changed long ago.
I remember the first time i saw this and when they actually had adam there, I basically knew david would die as soon as i saw him. Beccas' death made me legit sad/mad though.
Also, Night City legends are immortalized ingame with drinks named after them at the Afterlife bar! So when you visit the location during your playthrough, be sure to grab a David Martinez!
You can find Rebeccas shotgun at Arasaka Plaza if you look carefully around the bushes there. Also you CAN go visit to Rebeccas and Pilars Appartment aswell and even the places where Lucy and David sitt and look at the moon in game.
22:50 - Thats the thing, hes always psycho. He hates people, even before he was noganic, as a merc, one of his contract stipulations was that his gigs must have lots of civilian casualties. But he owes a life-debt to Arasaka so he wont turn on them.
This show was so good.. I think for only 10 episodes I wouldn’t change a thing about it. The whole crew was legendary. There’s also an animated music video for the song from the credits “let you down” featuring some familiar faces from Edgerunners, whether you post your reaction or not it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for more from the cyberpunk universe!
Johnny: “What did you expected?” V: “I don’t know uhhh…. A happy ending for everyone involved.” Johnny: “Here? For folks like us? Wrong city, wrong people.”
You gotta check out the music video for "Let You Down" (the ending credits song for this). It adds a bit of pre-show lore and fleshes out the world a bit, I'd love to see your reaction and hear your thoughts on it :))
I finished watching it yesterday, I cried a lot for about 20 minutes, but what really broke me was the fact that Lucy's dream was to go to the moon, but then she realized that her moon was David. Too bad he didn't realized this, it made me cry even more. And if you pay attention to the end credits, is how she reacted after everything. Walked in sadness, smoked, went and bathed, couldn’t stop hurting, got out and still hurt, then remembered about the moon.
It's just like watching two 22 minute episodes of your Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough over on your other channel, @IcedQuokkaTV ! Thanks for the reactions, I've loved watching them.
If they do other Cyberpunk shows, I'd totally expect that the meta story is a larger corporate agenda and different runner teams getting entangled in it in the different shows. Thanks for the reaction! :)
Omg waittt! That’s such a good premise for a show! I’m seriously hoping they make more tv shows/movies about the universe 😩 I just feel like they have so much material to work with it would be so perfect 😭
This was the first ever anime i watched, being the first I didn’t realise the level of emotion that they can portray in anime, i related to a lot of things in this show so that ending hit me like an absolute truck, it was on my mind constantly for a good week after, it’s been at least 6 months since I watched it and it still makes me feel shitty thinking about it, I’m absolutely convinced the writers of this show went through some real shit in life and just wanted us to feel some of that pain… and it worked.
OOOOF this is a tough one being your first anime damn 🤣🤣 it really is one of the best anime’s I’ve watched tho so you made a good choice! I agree with you tho, I’m still feeling the feels from it 😭 and if you play the game cyberpunk 2077 there’s so many Easter eggs that bring back all the memories 😭
@@icedquokka I always hated on anime for no reason but this show literally got me into demon slayer and jujutsu kaisen and opened me up to anime in general, I only watched it because I played the game and everyone said how good the show was but the emotional side of it was nothing I thought possible and caught me so off guard lmao. After watching it i immediately went to the game and got Davids jacket and Rebecca’s shotgun 😂 don’t think I could have chosen a better anime to start with for myself personally.
so the thing about cyberpsychosis is its quite heavily about your psychology and mentally coping with being 'not human',, Adam Smasher has achieved this by being a Functional Sociopath, he dosnt like people and genuinely enjoys splattering people but rather than go nuts and kill everyone in sight until dropped by MaxTac he has enough common sense to 'make a deal with saka' so he nominally obeys them and in return gets given their 'murder all these people hard' jobs and is now in a happy place, he's in his dream job, the important part being, even if Smasher was a pure organic person,,,, He would be EXACTLY the same person, the shell he's in dosnt matter cause he's never really been human
!! HUGE CYBERPUNK FAN YAPPING HERE !! Also, the reason Adam Smasher didn't die was because he's also a menacing villain you encounter a few times in the videogame set a year after the show. I love this show and one of the things I absolutely admire was that they stick to the rule of Night City; there is no happy endings. When you are powerful, there is always someone one step above you. Adam Smasher represents this showing that no character has (apart from of course the main character, V, in the videogame) plot armour, anyone could die at any moment and David was in comparision to alot of Night City livers, just another person to bite the dust. Also to add, something that a lot of people had recognised was that Lucy might have felt worse going to the moon, with some sort of guilt. Lucy's dream was to go to the moon, but it's not what she needed; it's what she wanted. She slowly became more attached to the idea of being with David whilst he didn't realise, and that slowly became more of a dream to her.. so going to the moon might of not fulfilled how she wanted everything to go.. if only they were able to go to the moon together. 😭
Lucy's dream changed from going to the moon to being with David and David didn't take that into consideration. She looks so dead on the moon ship it's so sad
14:20 actually he is as much of a human as he was, his legs and arms were cyberware before only part of him which was not were head and torso so nothing was removed just added
Thinking about it, this show almost follows the format of a classical Greek tragedy: the hubris of men (David thinking that he is special and rules don't apply) and miscommunication leading to death and tragedy for everyone, and everybody dying by the end. The thing that would make it a complete Greek tragedy would be if Lucy, having nothing left to live for, takes off her helmet in the final scene. (Which is kind of what I expected to happen, but the game implies that Lucy came back from the Moon and left notes on everybody's graves at the columbarium.)
Becca's death would have been emotionally traumatizing enough on it's own, but flashbacks from another death from above, Aerith's in the original FFVII, made it much much worse. Some wounds never heal.
The reason smasher hasn't gone cyberpsycho in my opinion is because he's literally already a psychopath, and the augmentation probably affects him completely different mentally
I think he didn’t think about that tbh I reckon he just loved being sadistic and didn’t care what arasaka wanted! Just wanted to finish off David for his own amusement
