For aligning the case, couldn't you get the case on there with the bolts in, and then fit the bullgear in place, tighten case bolts and then pull the bullgear off?
So, i didnt use that plug for the front cover because work doesn't have it. Now i bar the motor over and it just stops. Take the overheads off and it moves again. Valves hitting pistons. Could the crank be 360°off
Got it turned over today, cam needed to be turned to match crank. Rookie mistake but I'm worried about the lash adjustment because I didn't use the alignment plug because work didn't have it. Will find out tomorrow
Ok nu.ber one cylinder just in front of it.there is a little detent I have oil pouring out of it what's the fix and need part number it probably o ring
Detroit Diesel makes their own. It comes in a caulking tube just like this. Part number is 23514188. Hard to find sometimes but your best bet is the local Detroit parts shop. It’s $100 a tube. I wouldn’t risk using anything else, personally.
Thanks for sharing! Very helpful video!

If the didn't get the cam dowel lined up with the cam gear it will push into the cam. Not sure but have seen it happen
Can't type. But if the cam gear isn't lined up right the dowel will push into the cam and you won't know until you turn it over.
