The flex coupler that goes over the fly wheel should just slide out with a puller or is there a special way to get that out. I’m working on a marine 60 series 14l and I cannot get the flex coupler off to access the flywheel.
Well the way you installed those seals looked a lot easier than the way the book explains it. Also, why are you putting a used damper on a rebuilt engine? Those things wear out and will crack a crankshaft

The Detroit book does say to put some oil on the outside ring of the seal to keep it from getting hung up at all on the front/rear structure.
You could but usually the seal instructions say dry. Depending on the seal type matters as well
