So solid. Drummer is everything I want to hear in this music. Keyboard showed a ton of respect for the masters - Herbie, Chick, Oscar, more. Guitar was exceptionally tasteful and mature. Bass entirely locked in, showed restraint and sensitivity in his playing and revealed just enough of his chops to let everyone know he came to play. The communication between the artists was almost subliminal- they listen as well as they play. Thanks for sharing this.
About to head out to a little wednesday night blues jam to do some playing myself, down here in south texas, and you guys are inspiring to say the least...
I'll bet you that NONE of these guys practiced before this session. No pre-rehearsal of anything because the patterns are derived probably from hundreds of variations (blues of course) and standards in terms of measures turns and inflections that culminate the richness of flavor, accents dynamics, harmonies and natural embellishments that add to the vast color and chord combos which blow the mind in the world of improvisation and pocket-heart flow. In other words this is nothing new to musicians of this caliber. To sum it all...practicing is non-existent!!! You would be a fool to even think that this was practiced before performing. This was all off the top of the head, spur of the moment and developed on-the-spot by the seat of the pants fun! I do it with my musician friends as often as I can!!! Love it.
I know it's been almost a year. But...THAT was the best 11 minutes of real, smooth jazz I've heard in years. Found you on UA-cam today. Great stuff. Thanks.
This is NOT smooth jazz. Just a sick blues jam mate. (sorry if that was aggressive. I dislike smooth jazz more than stepping in a puddle with socks on)
This is in the top 1 percentile of funkiest blues jams ever. Not many get funkier than this... Look at the drummer's face every time someone gets a NASTY fill. Priceless...
@@JaySharp604 ... Interesting. At first I thought open handed too. But then changed my mind. Of course it depends on how we define "open handed" drumming. If we mean leading/riding with both left and right at will, then this gent doesn't qualify. He plays totally lefty all the way on a right-handed setup. Folks like Billy Cobham and Simon Phillips are true open-handed, fully ambidextrous drummers who switch lead hands at any time mid-song. A unique and awesome skill!
From a quick look at the tidal of this video, I thought it said "Fastest Groves I've ever heard LIVE", but after a few seconds listening I re-read the title, but by that time I stayed for this great JAM!!!
Those sweet, sweet chord substitutions. I had my guitar in hand and was improvising off of them. Really made me wish I'd been there. Not to say this guitarist isn't fresh, because he is, probably more than I am, in terms of doing something new. I just would have been all over those subs from the keyboardist. I thrive on that kind of harmony.
I hit like on this before...can I like it again? I LOVE this groove, the guy on bass is so smoooooooth....his bass line has the funk all in it....6:15 solo is groovetastic....
I wish I could find these guys playing together, right now! Fantastic Music! Anyone know if they do shows together now? And, if so where? Seriously, i had to watch again. Mesmerizing!
So nice. Is that a Korg Kross? I've got one. That thing is a great performance keyboard - fits in well with all my stuff. Even vintage synths. I'm gonna jam with this for a while. Thank You, Brothers.
Anyone into Herbie Hancock and The Headhunters or The Jeff Lorber Fusion just to name two greats from the past will know what they are listening to! This is as fresh as it gets!

i think jack white said he wouldn't play if people just sat behind their cell phones......on the other hand so cool to see live musicians in the house....
I usually don't watch the videos with (gotta see or must watch) in the header. But, then I saw "Eddie Brown" who I'm somewhat familiar mainly in name though but well enough to know (must Watch) is probably right...and it was. It took like a minute or two to feel her out and the rest was strolling and like the header says...must watch. There's nothing like watching naturally gifted musicians who have theory on lock as well take a mole-hill such as a chord progression or in this case a nice beat and make it into a mountain of a groove like these gentlemen perfectly demonstrated here. This was nice...real nice. It'll be going into my faves folder if that's alright. Thanks
I'm in a constant state of switching between disliking jazz music and being jealous of those who are able to do it because I find it to be a strange genre and difficult to play / understand. maybe im weird
As a left handed drummer who originally learned crossed it's not that hard lol. Learning to switch without thinking makes your movement sooo free though.
I used to feel self conscious about playing open-handed because it wasn't normal. I was originally taught traditional cross-handed right-handed playing but being a lefty my best high hat/ride work was always with my left hand. I saw Gordon Campbell playing with Earth Wind & Fire and realized his setup and style was just like mine. I have since seen others and am less concerned about being different.

9:10 the bass being completely on point to start playing again he's the only one who knew :D
I Did notice THAT! (ol’ school drummer in Mesa AZ). Lol
It’s “ESP”!
The craziest part the whole thing including the audio was taken on a cell phone
yep my iPhone
Clean stuffs
That tells you alot about the control and precision of the band. Like damn, they playin quietly.
He had the proper distance between the phone and band to have that right volume balance.
Iphones have the best audio quality
The bassist n drummer locked keepin the flow without seeming restricted!
Best camera angle ever ! perfect video and audio!
An ad playing during the bass players solo is so damn fitting, man. God damn it
Love when musicians communicate without saying a word...lol. The greatest inside secret among the pros

Open handed drumming too!
It's easy if you relax, playing with feeling, and, by all means leave the ego at home.

They are simply amazing!!!!!
damn bruh killed that bass solo
11mins not long enough I need more of this ✊🏾
Woooooowza. That was KILLIN. More like this!!!!
That was one of the most impressive and enjoyable grooves I’ve ever seen! Great job guys!
Somebody turn the sprinkler system on, so they can cool down before these kats catch on fire.
Not a fire to be put out
Need a little air freshener under the drums-uh
Yeah, they should play in the frozen food section, but they'd prolly melt all the stuff. The rare vid that lives up to the title.
9:57 til the end, Eddie did stuff on the keys that only an alien could do. Eddie Brown is the reason I believe in aliens
Wow, this was excellent. To have that ability to communicate with each other at that level is something I would love to experience as a musician.
A simple 12-bar blues given a funky makeover.....awesome!!
The drummer 😭😭😢😭😭😭😱😱
Death by phatness, tastiness and funk. Eddie, Eric, Gordon - too much! Unbelievable musicians who are just KILLING it.
