Makes total sense, if you want peptides to do their job then use them in your first step after cleansing, in a serum or toner for example. Could also be a moisturizer i assume but they are also somewhat made to stay on top of your skin
Yes she is basically saying it is a waste to have them in sunscreen! but in a formulation like a serum that is supposed to be absorbed deeper they may be better off
You are the most common sense, ingredient driven, science based Doctor out there! And you do it with the most delightful humor! Your Patients (and friends 😊) are so lucky to have you in their lives! You’ve given me back my drive to remember what I loved so much about being an Esthetician. (I’ve been retired for a very long time) You’re the best!
Thank you! The trend of making sunscreen into a one-and-done skincare product drives me nuts. I have very sensitive skin, so all of these added ingredients are irritating, making finding a good sunscreen I can tolerate a massive pain in the ass. I use skincare products that suit me, so I only need my sunscreen to be sunscreen.
Could you please do a whole video on peptides? I am possessed with copper peptides and the Beekman 1802 sleep mask which has tripeptides but I’m not sure the difference between them and you’re such a great teacher!!!
Love your explanation , I’m an aesthetician and i am so passionate about skin so much and I try to share the same thing with people. More videos like this plz❤
well, even in sunscreen as in any formulation, ingredients get absorbed by their molecular weight and by how they interact with the skin, so even if it’s a sunscreen if the peptide is meant to get in, it will get in, meanwhile the moisturizing ingredients and the sunscreen actives will remain more on the surface also doing it’s job…. so yes, having peptides in a sunscreen doesn’t mean they are not going to work… the same goes with niacinamide, retinol…. if the sunscreen is well formulated is going to work 😉
Maybe... Like if this sunscreen is assumed to be in a 2 step routine after a toner or essence /light Moisturizer, or even as an all in one step after just cleansing. I think it just depends on how many layers you are putting between your bare skin and the sunscreen..
I have used the Peptide Collagen booster from Paula's Choice and absolutely adored it. I got it as a free item first and then purchased it 2 other times. It is expensive so I've been using the Inkeylist collagen peptide serum, which is about $40 cheaper lol And it's pretty good so far! ❤
They won't do their job since they won't penetrate your skin, just sit on top of it. So buying more expensive spf because it has peptides is a waste of money :)
Dr.Shereen thank you for your unselfishness in educating us the proper skincare. Can you pls give us list or steps/series of skincare. What is the best sunscreen? Thank you
The "biebs" here means Hailey Bieber, she has a skincare line called "Rhode" which has this amazing lip and body products composed of peptides and they actually work. That's why people have been going crazy over peptides recently but as she said it's only for moisturizers or serums that you put initially on skin, so not for suncreens. Hailey's kinda like a trendsetter (popularised not invented) with this peptide hype and strawberry make up I see, good for her ✨
@@s_shaleh as I said before she didn't invent it or introduced it first, but it got popular because of her products. And I say so because many influencers and skincare magazines/articles have been talking about it.
I love watching you. I went to derm became i have a dark line running top to bottom on my big toe. Please could u help me a friend said it could be melanoma. Thank you
You're supposed to layer them, but if you have a sunscreen that is also a moisturizer, you don't need to have another separate moisturizer. If that's what you're asking
So I don’t understand. Is it good that there’s peptide in that sunscreen because it’s producing collagen or is it not good because it’s making te sunscreen sink into my skin
I hit fillers for the first time under my eyes last week, and yesterday I started with my eye cream (dermalogica) now today it looks like a little bump under one eye. Is this because of filler? Please school us doll
Wait...i thought chemical sunscreens should go directly on bare skin to be absorbed, and mineral sunscreens are meant to go last? Is that not right? Ive heard other derms say that so now im confused
No, sunscreens just need to form a uniform layer. And sunscreens generally take about 15 minutes to dry into this protective film that’s why you’re supposed to wait. It might not give equal uniform protection before that
I have acne prone, combination skin. I have tried many sunscreen. Nothing works for me. I get breakouts and bumps whenever I use sunscreen. Recently I am using Elta md one that is for acne prone skin. Still I am getting breakouts and bumps over my face. Do you suggest anything?
If sunscreen is meant to sit on top of your skin, then why are chemical sunscreens so heavily recommended when they have to be absorbed into your skin for 15-20 minutes just to be able to work?
Wouldn't anything that has a nature to get absorbed, do so regardless? Unless there's a layer of say Vaseline before you put on sunscreen, it'll still get absorbed!
With full respect, I just watched a video of yours.. assuring that you don't use botox in your forehead yet.. and I took you at face value, pardon the pun. However, here with your face side on.. it's obvious you have had botox in your forehead.. and I'm just unsure why you'd be dishonest about it. You can literally see the area in your forehead that's affected by the botox.. there's almost a line going up that distinguishes between your botoxed forehead.. and the non botoxed temple area. I just don't understand why you'd mention it at all if it meant you had to lie 🤔
You only want your sunscreen to sit on Top of your skin when you’re a non makeup wearer in my case… Im q makeup wearer 😏 so no Doc your advice is not for everyone
Actually, you do! This sunscreen is formulated to act as a makeup primer. There are sunscreens that work well with makeup. Sitting on top of the skin doesn't mean that it stays wet and greasy.
I love the way you explain things ! Thank you

And, that said, the sunscreen is the last step in the morning routine, especially. Correct?
@@ITreasureMEAromatherapy Yep!

Doctor your personality is a ray of sunshine..
Her skin looks beautiful even in the Sephora where I immediately turn into a garden troll under the lighting.
This is so helpful! Thank you so much. This really gives an insight on what is worth buying and what’s just useless!

Lemme know if you find one!!! I’m struggling with the same thing. Can’t they just make it simple with fewer ingredients?

The olay peptide serum is something i have used for at least 15 years...

🧐 good to know.
You're beautiful!
Well this saved me some money. Thank you!
I loved the story time
Can you do drugstore brands
Yup.. always go from smallest molecule and water soluble first to bigger molecule (sunscreens) and oily/occlusive last.
So....what are you saying? Peptides don't need to be in sunscreens?
They don't "work" correctly in sunscreen, their useless there. Thats how i took it.
They won't do their job since they won't penetrate your skin, just sit on top of it. So buying more expensive spf because it has peptides is a waste of money :)
@@ems6800so buying a moisturiser with peptide is okay?

@shereeneidriss can a multi peptide be used around the eyes❓️❓️
Are moisturizers and sunscreen combo ok to use then? Or should they be separated?

It's a decent formula, but don't expect miracles lol
Where are you from ❤
So they're okay to have in sunscreen, but they're not necessary? Or we should find sunscreen without them?
Bottom line, you don't need it so don't hunt for expensive sunscreens with it. If it's in there, don't expect to see benefits from peptides

What if it's a chemical sunscreen that's supposed to be absorbed into the skin?🤔
Lab beauty science has a video on chemical vs mineral sunscreens and their absorption rates

What peptides do?
If sunscreen is meant to sit on top of your skin, then why are chemical sunscreens so heavily recommended when they have to be absorbed into your skin for 15-20 minutes just to be able to work?
They don’t need to absorb, they need to form an even layer. And most sunscreens take some time to dry into this even layer
Can't read a thing through the affiliate sale. But from the comments confirmation on no.
So is good or not that product in your hand??? Yes or not pleased 🤪🤪🤪🙏🙏🙏🙏

I believe chemical sunscreen is absorbed and sun block aka mineral sunscreen sits on top
