Coming along good thank you. The barn is standing and we are waiting on our windows and doors. It should be on the next video. Im a few weeks behind. I got sick and it took me out of action
@@todddonaldsontruckingadven1909 hope all is well now, I know what it's like getting sick and delaying plans been there. Looking forward to the progress. Keep the faith!
When I was trucking I had next to no freedom, not even the freedom to get enough sleep, and with age I need more sleep than I did then. This total lack of freedom is why, despite being single now when I wasn't then, I turned in my expensive CDL just this year despite the talk of driver shortages. I wanted to go back but was not going to risk being denied sleep again like I was in '91. And I figured the shortage would make them push even harder to deny me sleep even more. And if I buy a truck, then, as far as I know, the truck insurance, registration and other bills pile up as I sleep, like rent but even worse, and the last thing I need is more bills piling up as I sleep. I did manage to visit a few friends while trucking, but I hear the new electronic tracking takes away even more freedom to turn out of route to visit a friend. So anyway, I learned in '91 not to associate trucking with freedom, as I never had less.
You were just in the wrong situation, with the wrong frame of mind. Why would you even ALLOW someone to dictate to you when you rested or not. That's on you. Not the industry. Have you ever noticed that the old timers in this business don't complain about not sleeping?? We'd rather be truckin than sleeping. Getting shit done. The new drivers would rather sleep than truck. Then complain about being on the road so long, and or not making any money. Sounds like you were the latter.
