Very cool and good luck on the rebuild/restoration! My first ride was a 1981 Dodge Omni 024. Black with beige vinyl interior. 4 speed manual with the 2.2L engine. Was a great little first car! Except when it rained...no distributor cap cover....yeah. Anyways cool for you!
I'm glad to see that you are restoring it. I just had to scrap an '86 Laser that I've been storing for 8 years. It was going to be my RWD conversion project, but, now that I bought the Daytona, I no longer need it. It was really rusted out, as it had sat in a field for over ten years, before it was given to me. I did part it out before it went to the yard, so it wasn't wasted.
Yeah it is very unfortunate that rust is what kills these cars and that there isn't anywhere to get the proper panels to fix them. They are definitely worth saving if someone were able to make them. We have near future plans on starting to make some items as time allows.
Thanks! For now it is put away due to other things needing done first. I'm hoping in the spring I can get some done on it. I already have an engine if it's needed.
Great find and rare too. I hope you can bring it back to life. I don't know if it's just me getting older or the fact that it's been almost 40 years since these cars were new that makes me appreciate them a lot more now than I ever did back in the 80's. Living in the northeast I never see anything of this vintage on the roads anymore, even in the nice weather. Makes me appreciate the fact I've held on to my Daytona for the last 20 years.
I would be dead if l had a Shelby Charger turbo for my first car😂. I wanted one so badly when I got my license back in the summer of '91. The manager's son had a silver/blue one at the Dodge dealer where may Dad worked and the kid drove it like he stole it! I was 25 when I bought my black/silver '85 in 2000 and I have no plans to ever sell. She's got only 68000 miles and runs like a Swiss watch. Unfortunately here in MI rust is a huge issue. I never drive mine in rain or snow, ever. I looked at a few '87 GLHS's over the years and just couldn't find the right one for my price range. Anyways, glad you are able to revisit your youth with this car. Good luck bringing it back to life.
My dad originally had me a 70 road runner and I wanted the Shelby Charger instead and do not have any regrets. It was a superb car and gave me zero issues and was fun to drive
Awesome. My first car was an 87 black/silver Shelby Charger. Bought it in 88 with 9,000 miles for 9 grand. I was 18. I used to smoke those Z24's, Monte SS's and LG4 F-bodys. Was reliable till I blew up the a525. HaHa. I would love to get another but it would be a GLHS.
Strangely I honestly never had an issue with the transmission. Just the rod ends coming off. Knowing what I know now, I'm surprised I never did have any issues.😂😂😂
What's funny? Never cared for the Chargers or Daytonas...but I had an '89 Turbo Caravan that benefited from all the K-cars that littered junkyards throughout the '90's. The list of mods, mostly factory swap stuff, was long & hilarious

Needs allot of work but I'm glad it found a good home.
It definitely does. It's put away safe and sound for now. If we get a bigger space then it will hopefully get started on.
Definitely a resto candidate, awesome project car. Look forward to seeing more on it

I'm hoping to. It's in line for the future. I have to get my Lebaron done first then this one.

Which is why I had the transmission from a 5spd daytona turbo in mine.
Solid as a rock👍🏿
@@kenik2023 Yup. A555 or A568 the way to go.👍

Nothing wrong with a turbo van!!!
Holy cow how are you finding these? I get online I can't find boo!
I would love to find something like this!❤
We look several times a day and I have wanted posts and friends who look for us
I have 2..one 29k miles and another one needing attention
Do you have spare parts for Shelby chargers you would sell?

Is that front left wheel a 17”?
I think. I honestly didn't pay attention. Idk if all 4 are here.
Someone took the valve cover... HUH ?
Yeah she said she didn't see it. Luckily we found another one so this particular car is 100% complete fs far as the Shelby specific items it needed
How do you keep finding these
We hunt several times per day and have people looking for us as well.
