Its not a vst plugin (well, you can use reason as a vst plugin so technically it is) but Reason Studios Objekt Modelling Synth is one of my top plugins for this year, sounds amazing.
True. I fully expected it to be snake oil, with the pretentious name and all, but it's actually really, really good at what it does. Glad I tried the beta, which gave me a big discount on the full product when it came out.
Oh bloody hell, thank you, you've just answered the support ticket I sent them yesterday! Do they happen to mention it anywhere before they get you to buy it? I almost did yesterday, because I need something like that very badly, but I tried it first and sure enough, it craps out. Zero functionality (except for a one-track eq, like everything else)
@@SongOfItself No unfortunately I should have used the trial before buying. The only thing I saw before buying was their list of compatible DAWs that didn’t include Bitwig but there was a note saying that their plugins may be compatible with other DAWs. It’s only when I placed my support ticket that I saw that they have an article saying that it doesn’t work with DAWs that fully sandbox the plugins because it prevents the instances from communicating with each other. They say that they are looking for a solution but I will not hold my breath because it doesn’t look like it’s their priority.
Doesn't that only happen when you sandbox all of them individually? It's kinda overkill to do that anyway, I'd just sandbox by plugin instead of individually and then manually choose the ones that need individual sandbox
@@vikhr I don’t know if all plugins are sandboxed individually in Bitwig. But what I can say is that other plugins companies like Izotope have a way to communicate between instances that works in Bitwig despite the sandboxing. So I don’t really know what Sonible are doing different but they’ll eventually have to find a way because all modern DAWs are going adopt plugin sandboxing because it’s the only way to get increased overall reliability.
Mixbus 9 came out this year, and I'm pretty happy with that. Not a plugin....um... The only thing i bought this year was analog labs V, and only because i got an 80% discount. It wasn't a great year for plugins.

OZONE 11 Ain't BAD, I Have My Former Critic's Complimenting My Final Master's Now, However I Do Add GullFoss Master On My Bottom Output Tree After Ozone 11 Thou, But Still Ozone Is Fun To Make Minor Adjustments To Once You Learn The Modules. Serato 2 Is Dope, So I Agree Wit You On That One, And Neutron 4 Might Be Dumber Than It's Competition, But Not When Used With OZONE 11, That's Probably Why It's A.i. Is Spreading The Low Ends, But If You Neutron 4 Your Low In First, It Stays Unchanged In Your Final Mix, Sound Quality in Tone Wise... Also You Should've At Least Thru In Best DAW Of The Year... I'mmah Go Out On Ah Limb And Say FL 21 Wins That One EASILY. 😁
Ozone is definitely not bad, I just still feel like it could be better especially the master assistant. The chance between 10 and 11 isn't ground breaking. I didn't want to do a DAW award because I don't multi-daw too often. I probably should have at least thrown some options out there as an outsider observation.
I really don't think SmartEQ4 shits on Neutron. I think they're both really, really bad. They don't even differentiate nor understand the difference between an EDM-Kickdrum and a regular Acoustic kickdrum. They will always try to mix kickdrums the same way. I don't believe for a second these are even 'smart' algorithms, i.e. I don't think they even really reference the input they're given. Hell, smart-EQ can't even tell it's a kickdrum unless you tell it it is.
I do think you're either mostly right or completely on the mark. At best, they "train" those plugins on some (limited) inputm, and we're left to trust them that they did, like who's gonna check? Example: smart:eq4 never heard of a genre called ambient, never mind. But there's no actual AI inside of the plugin itself, that would require many, many terabytes of storage (and since it's audio data, terabytes might be the wrong order of magnitude entirely)
Weav you and wifey produce a great show. It’s true, plugins are running outta moves. The only thing that changes and stays fresh will be us! New application of applications. New non conventional uses. I don’t know the name of that plugin, but if I can drop a stemmed out old dusty string sample into it, and it kicks back a reproduced synth sound that mimics it perfectly, we got ourselves a plugin!

They have a small subset of presets you can trial through their free player, but i feel you about no proper trial.

My resolution for next year is, I'm gonna shave my shoulders. I'm just a bit worried about being too cold without my fur, you never know with this psycho-weather. Happy New Year and all that! Cheers!
Its not a vst plugin (well, you can use reason as a vst plugin so technically it is) but Reason Studios Objekt Modelling Synth is one of my top plugins for this year, sounds amazing.
i forgot about this one, i should try it out it seems really cool.
I really want to grab this one eventually, physical modeling slaps
its def amazing. Cant wait to see what else Reason drops on the new year.
Random by beatsurfers is my fav this year.
Best blob type plugin by a mile
I saw that in Andrew's video it looked pretty cool.
Appreciate the honesty. Transit and Life sound really cool on the surface but yeah wayyy overhyped.
Ozone 11 master assistant doesn't increase the bass width anymore. That was a bug in 10 that got fixed.
xln life I feel like the whole point is the use the generated rhythm not so much the generated loop but also there’s random infinite sound generator
i slept on this video until this moment right now, on purpose. 😂
Hilarious review🤣
Supertone Clear is really good. Been using it in general media production as well.
I prefer Accentize dxRevive Pro instead, have you tried both for curiosity? :)
True. I fully expected it to be snake oil, with the pretentious name and all, but it's actually really, really good at what it does. Glad I tried the beta, which gave me a big discount on the full product when it came out.
Let's go!
Your Santa hat looks like a turban for most of the video…
The silent donning of the turban was actually my favorite part of this video!
uHE updated Filterscape that's pretty badass this year. Haven't used the trial but I'd say it would be one of the best this year
Funny I thought about pre ordering a subpac a few years ago and decided it seemed fishy....
Well the smart eq4 doesn’t work in DAWs that sandbox the plugins like Bitwig
RIP
Next year we gonna be rating the best AI mixing engineer imbedded into our daws
What about Plugin Boutique’s Scaler EQ? That should be awarded as most musical EQ or not? I didn’t try it myself though
If you actually watch the video you'll find that it's in there.
@@gutterg0dobviously it got it’s own category but isn’t it any good?!
it seems pretty cool just a little sketchy on it.
Current Minimal is amazing
Shave or save? Eyebrow edition.
Not even a tuxedo T-shirt?
glad to provide
Runner up for biggest blunder: Bitwig and their renegging on their user agreement
Yeah that was bad just didn't feel like it was as bad as waves or minimal.
When's the God Particle review?
haven't bought a plugin in over a year, did pay for some updates tho
Have you used autochorma yet?
Mixbus 9 came out this year, and I'm pretty happy with that. Not a plugin....um... The only thing i bought this year was analog labs V, and only because i got an 80% discount. It wasn't a great year for plugins.
Sonible definitely got Izotope tf outta here this year.
i gotta say the v-pan plugin.. it installed TWO separate drm softwares on my PC completely silently without ever mentioning either of them. so fuck that. the ai plugins don't even count, and at least they don't install bloatware. also the 'bassline' plugin that only worked for a few days, also GOYO, just straight up wanted hdd space and time spent
Thanks For Listening To Me... I Was Hoping To See Any Kind Of Awards On This. But Hey...
@@Weaverbeats How do you think the master assistant could be better in future versions? (Genuine question)
It's def not perfect, better than neutron imo though.
@@SongOfItself Does the "smart" EQ need local storage if it can access data "in the cloud"?
@@crnkmnkySo does it work offline? Either way, every time someone puts out an "AI" plugin, we have to take their word for it.
hopefully next year will be more reverbs.
pls no
Love it. The emperor has no clothes
You have to put some effort in. Shave your eyebrows. Shave your girlfriends eyebrows. Swap eyebrows. Now THAT would grow this channel! 💨
should try an m4l list and then decide what is actually made bad, because it kills me how good those are getting and I still don't like ableton
I like this
lol comp's design makes me want to destroy stuff
🎸 _It's just one of those days…_
Weav you and wifey produce a great show.
It’s true, plugins are running outta moves.
The only thing that changes and stays fresh will be us!
New application of applications.
New non conventional uses.
I don’t know the name of that plugin, but if I can drop a stemmed out old dusty string sample into it, and it kicks back a reproduced synth sound that mimics it perfectly, we got ourselves a plugin!
5:58 I'm six minutes in. Dude! Falcon 3 and Avenger 2 puts poopoo all over Current. Sorry, but i felt the same way about it as you felt about Synplant. Like. Yeah, it's great. But best sounding presets from a synth? Naw fam. falcon 3, Avenger 2, and Tone2 Icarus 2 have the presets that blows minds up.
Also a shoutout to Bitwig 5.1 release. Its not a plugin, but you basically use Bitwig for the Grid and other Synths. And they all got rad new things
Updated: ok, i hear you as to why you didnt out Falcon on the list. They have a small subset of presets you can trial through their free player, but i feel you about no proper trial.
You could buy Avenger 2 just for the new factory bank alone and never run out of material to produce with.
I don't know much about their history, but I'll look it up for sure. But I personally don't care if any of these guys use iLok or not. Fine by me if I love the software. @@chokocat9064
@@Arcessitorso fucking true, dude! So fucking true. Plus it's like...one of the most fun and easy to use for custom patches. I'm not a sound designer yet by any stretch, but I already made a handful of patches that I love and have used in tracks
i want to try falcon 3 but i'm not buying it to try it. I'll give avenger a shot though.
@@Weaverbeatsyeah, I totally feel you. I'll fly to Hawaii and let you use my copy, while I hustle you up those remaining subscribers. Oh, shit, I realized I can't do that....I used all my money's on buying Falcon 3 😂😂
To be fair did anything good happen last year either?
scaler EQ seems a bit like Spectre
You read it wrong. It was "Current apology and pricing update"
It's clear from the mic work you skipped the important "hardcore band vocalist" phase on your journey.
I had a "hardcore guitarist" phase 😭
@@Weaverbeats I didn't know you were once a decent lad!
Synplant 2 is the best ❤
Current is my 100% favorite this year
yeah I was surprised, the presets and stream sounds are of insane quality.
You forgot about waves silk
VPS Avenger 2 ?
BTW, when you said "there is no real idea left to make into a groundbreaking plugin", it made me think, but it's not true. I just checked Sonible Smart Gate and it is still not "smart enough". You still are going to lose snare ghost notes when you want to get rid of the hats in between snare hits. The AI plugin I need and I don't find is the "drum track cleaner".
