I always loved this camera back in the day and recently I have bought not one but two P880s on Ebay!!!! £20 and £22, both "untested" as they came with no charger, but I had one in the back of a drawer and both cameras work 100% fine. I still love this camera, personally I dont shoot RAW but I think the JPEGs look just great and the 24mm wide end is so good, still a good camera even in 2024, what a bargain !!
I had one of these and loved it. I mostly took only jpeg and used it for about 6 years with almost 10,000 picture. Its weakness was the power button switch which goes bad and goes intermittent until complete failure and it wouldn't turn on. It was an upgrade to my Kodak DX7440 and I replaced it with a Fuji X-S1 which is still my primary camera today.
Ahh good to hear someone else out there was able to take advantage of this thing! The X-S1 is a sort of 'dream camera' for my little collection, kinda envious!
@@forgottencameras The X-S1 is an amazing camera. I hope you get to experience it. I wish they would update it with a modern sensor and better focusing system they have now. It can't track in continuous shooting which makes it very bad for sport shooting. It is good with ISO up to 1000 but a new sensor may bring it up to 3200 or more. X-S2
I have had 5 of these over the past 5 or 6 years. There are two very common problems with the P880 - (1) Fungus! The front element is actually two pieces and the fungus gets in between them. Despite keeping my studio humidity low two of my cameras had fungus within a year of getting them used. You never know how the cameras have been treated in the past if you buy used. (2) The power switch can get spastic and not power on or off at times, sometimes just random while using it. A shot of good contact cleaner under the switch and working the switch with the battery out is all that is needed sometimes. A few years ago I shot a P880 alongside an Oly E-500 (Kodak sensor). The similarities of the output were so extremely close it surprised a lot of people. So, it's closer to a DSLR than you might think!
I had the 850, always wanted the hotshoe flash for it. Loved that camera. Long exposures using the zoom during the winters in Chicago, exposure bracketing, what good times we had together!
I loved this camera! It was nice and light. I could shove it into a bag and not worry too much about it. At the same time, I bought the Canon EOS 10D, which I loved as well. Between the two, I think I got more use out of the P880 because it was lighter and less awkward to tote around. I recently found my P880 hiding in a box with all of the accessories including the battery, charger, hood, cap and flash! I was never able to see photos from the P880 because of noise... so it was relegated to being the "fun" travel camera. The 10D was used for more serious use like larger prints, shooting commercially and creating photos for stock photography. but was a pain to carry around.
Me too I shoot with forgotten cameras, I got my F828, and old Olympus...they don't have all the bells and whistles of 2022 cameras but the image quality is WOOWWW !
Thanks for the concise review. This camera sounds like a great option if you want to take decent pictures but don't feel like lugging a ton of DSLR hardware...
I bought one of these when Wolf Camera was selling them new for $99. It was a really fun camera to use (for that price). I didn't own it long because my Olympus Four Thirds (not Micro) camera was about the same size and did everything better. If I was going to use a camera with this size of sensor I wanted the camera to be smaller too. That said, this camera deserved more attention than it got.
I still have mine in virtually perfect condition with all original parts. I have the Kodak flash. Also the Kodak 1.4x zoom extender. I hadn’t touched it in many years till digging it out lately. The 400 ISO limit was restricting. I mainly stopped using it because of shutter lag. I replaced it with a Rebel XS, which I also still have in perfect condition. Guess I’ll put the Kodak in my curio cabinet with my Pentax Program, my Polaroid Swinger, and all the gang.
That was a great walk through :) Just grabbed one Waiting on it:) I love the ccd ship look Hope it still gives it a retro vibe I also like really trashy video I would of loved to see what the video looked like on this
Bought one when I first started to take pics as a hobby, about 20 years ago used for £110, just bought another for £23 mostly covered in dust but complete and boxed, may need a battery.
Negative, any video you get out of this thing is going to be unusable by modern standards. That and you're probably going to be running into a lot of recording limitations. You're better off finding a more modern point and shoot with a microphone input.
I have been on a bit of a Kodak buying spree, while older Canons and Nikons are getting more expensive, the Kodaks are still cheap. P712 was great also, P850 wasnt bad and can deliver nice results, Z812 and Z712 are cool also, I rather like the DX7590 too (5mp with a massive EVF and robust build), but the P880 is still my favourite!!!! TOP TIP when buying on ebay, many Kodaks are sold super cheap as "untested" because the seller has lost the battery and/or charger, all the P series and several DX cams use the same battery and charger and are interchangeable. Same with the Z series which use the 3.7v Klic 8000, I have never bought a Kodak untested that didnt work when I put a charged battery in it and some have cost under £10!!!! One of the great things about these old Kodaks (apart from the lovely image quaality) is that they all have an EVF viewfinder, sadly lacking on so many cameras now
As with any old school autofocus, you gotta define the area it autofocuses, and usually it has to be well lit and good contrast as most of these use contrast focus.

Omg! Brian! That cat is a trip. You can see it in his face! Great vid.
This was a great camera for its time. Enjoyed it for many years. =) Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

did you ever manage to fix the power button switch? i’m trying to revive mine :(
@@mish730 A friend took it apart to try to get to it but he didn't have any luck.
@@forgottencameras The X-S1 lens had issue so now I am on a Nikon D5300 with a Tamron 18-200.

I have a ZMax990. Which followed this one I still use it. Kodaks images have a look of their own.
We need more cheap weird cameras in a "studio" setup

I bought one because of the 24mm lens coverage vs the Canon Gs 35mm. I loved that feature
CCD sensors are great! I have one in my Olympus E-400
I just got one of these on eBay for $74 and this video has helped me to understand it better

I just brought one from eBay and found this video, what is the raw converter you use? I think it would be better to have noise reduction function

Have never heard of this dslr!
A friend lent me this camera. I’m doing a documentary with a very low budget and was wondering if I could film with this camera?

I shoot with one of these, with an sd card of 512 ΜΒ that holds approximately 36 raw photos, still having hard time agasting auto focus though

Just got one of these at goodwill too. Gotta find a battery now
Have you ever tried watching this video with the automated captions ? They're absolutely hilarious
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No, I'm not a. Sagger lover
I actually have one with a whole bunch of extra opteka HD 2 lenses, extra battery, and a bower adapter tube honestly looking at selling it
Try the canon pro 1, its lens is really good compared to other bridge cameras
Nice review
Does anyone know if aside from photos, if it also does video like a movie camera?
This is the official Brian camera. I guess it does work for different situations but BRIAN is where this old Ccd really shines.
Cool
I love even last minute!
fuck me but thx from Msw for that lovely kodak video
Sayang namali ako ng tingin akala ko yung price is P880 💕💞🙏😭
Those pro digital backs are interesting. Kodak’s camera are really nice.
Quite hard to find mint condition item, great camera, great kodak.
