My favorite bass players. Some are virtuosos (John Entwistle, Geezer Butler, John Paul Jones, Geddy Lee, etc) but only him can root a song the way he does IMHO…
@@pateris How can you make that statement even remotely? Are you aware of today's mainstream? Trap dominates the market, Raggaeton rules over Latin America, Electronic stylized pop is the highest charting. If anything this was closer to the surface of mainstream in the early 80s. Since then it has slowly buried itself again
8 years old when I first heard this masterpiece. My sister had the album, and I used to beg her to play it. 49 years old and this bass line still hunts me... But I do have The Cure! 🫣
I once had a complete mental breakdown which took me to hell, tore me to pieces then spat me out into a shivering wreck in the corner of my room. Faith and The Figurehead were the soundtrack because they were so cathartic. Relentlessly and achingly dark, yet somehow also uplifting and inspirational too. They gave voice to my pain, but also helped me climb out of it too, eventually.
This was so good, when Lol came out the crowd cheered. It was so nice to see them all back on the stage again. I wish Rob would release the DVD so I can experience it all again. SO GOOD!
I'm amazed at how Robert's voice has held up. At 52 years old (in this video), he sounds great! I think the whole band in this vid at least, is sounding better than they have in the past 10 years.
I saw only this video from the whole concert, but I already want to see full version. I liked montage, I liked the style of shooting - I even didn't guessed that this is the fan work. It was made almost like it is pro-shot. I've always respected and admired people who does such a work and does it brilliant. Thank you.
can only agree... there been many live performans and song with the cure after wild mood swings that i felt his voice was going bad...but here as in the other clips from 2011 i found on here it sounds just great again :)
For Me *THE HOLY HOUR* is THE SONG WITH THE MOST PERFECT SCARY SOUND BASS IN THE MUSIC HISTORY!!!!!!! And *THE HOLY HOUR* is One of The Most MELANCHOLIC, LONELY, NOSTALGIC (About Our Childhood . . . and if We look at the Past; about those Unforgetable Years when NEW WAVE had Children really Avant-Garde líke DARK MUSIC or DEPRESSED MUSIC), RELIGIOUS and DESPERATE HYMNS OF THE HISTORY......... "I Stand and I Hear My Voice Cries Loud . . . . . . . ." Ps: Just Perfect.
This is actually the third version, and the one from the album. The first, from 1980, was a dedication to Ian Curtiss, who had just taken his own life. The second was from John Peel Show in 1981. I you have not heared them, you should. My favourite is the one from John Peel, but that is purely subjective....
I have chills...... You did an amazing job editing this. Hearing Carnage Visors - and the photos just sends me over the edge. thecure.com should hire YOU to edit the Refections DVD. Wonderful - that for all of your hard work and time on this - I really enjoyed it.. xoxo Autumn
I kneel and wait in silence As one by one the people slip away Into the night The quiet and empty bodies Kiss the ground before they pray Kiss the ground And slip away I sit and listen dreamlessly A promise of salvation makes me stay Then look at your face And feel my heart pushed in As all around the children play The games they tired of yesterday They play They play I stand and hear my voice Cry out A wordless scream at ancient power It breaks against stone I softly leave you crying I cannot hold what you devour The sacrifice of penance In the holy hour
Simon Gallup's bass sound is so perfect ...
He's why I wanted to hear this song live in particular.
Love him
My favorite bass players. Some are virtuosos (John Entwistle, Geezer Butler, John Paul Jones, Geddy Lee, etc) but only him can root a song the way he does IMHO…
Yes it is!!! It sucks that after 40 years, he has left the band!!!
They are all perfect...
One of the most important Cure songs for me. And Faith is my favourite album.
pornography dpoes it for me
Me too
It's incredible to think that two out-of-this-world albums like this could be almost mainstream nowadays…

@@kaunaz4443 Well there's this thingie called "classic rock"… (If it's not an oxymoron, it should be !)
Ian Curtis ❤❤❤ R.I.P
In memory of Ian ….
Upon reading Lol's autobiography, I can totally feel what he felt right as he started playing those drums… speechless!
Came here directly from reading his book as well!
También vine por el libro de Lol, pense que tocaba la bateria pero toco la percusión al costado, los platillos y unos bombos, muy emocionado.

Such a fun bass line to play. I Love 💘 you SIMON!
Saw this in London, gave me the feels when Lol walked on with those epic cymbals
So great to see him again!
One of the prettiest Cure songs. Melody goes right to my bones
what a band.... immense!

This band changed my life in the best possible way

Oooh ... that bass! Must be weird and bittersweet for Lol watching someone play the drums for something he helped create
+Kendo Arasuta I think he´s properly just glad to be there. He fucked it up himself so cant really blame anyone else. And yes, what a bass line :)
man i wish i couldve been there this tour, this was such a fuckin important cure tour
never thought they'd do this
Brings me to tears, the memories!
This editing is awesome
lol's playing with them again! that's so cool.

It's good that Simón Gallup used a black Fender Precision Bass for this great song that opens the album Faith, a beauty of a song
Die schmerzhaft schöne Jugendzeit. Ich könnte weinen

Post-punk, gothic rock, not emo.🦇

Is there a video or audio recording of the entire Sydney show? The editing in this video is great and the audio source is as well :)
I just can’t rap my head around them sounding exactly like 1981 even when I saw them last year

Merci!
THE HOLY OUR IS WHEN JESUS CHRIST COME BACK AGAIN ! FAITH IS SUPER MAYBE THE BEST
I kneel and wait in silence
As one by one the people slip away
Into the night
The quiet and empty bodies
Kiss the ground before they pray
Kiss the ground
And slip away
I sit and listen dreamlessly
A promise of salvation makes me stay
Then look at your face
And feel my heart pushed in
As all around the children play
The games they tired of yesterday
They play
They play
I stand and hear my voice
Cry out
A wordless scream at ancient power
It breaks against stone
I softly leave you crying
I cannot hold what you devour
The sacrifice of penance
In the holy hour
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍
I am learning of some new songs for me-I do not own all of their albums. So many Great Songs!
