I can reel off about 20 memorable quotes from the 1987 film at any one time, with great fondness. I can't remember one word of dialogue from the 2014 one. In fact I'm hard pressed to recall what actually happened in it.

The ability for him to feel and interpret emotions was, while I wouldn't argue destroyed completely, largely diminished when he was murdered, and the reanimation only brought back his mental facilities in their strictest form. Hence, throughout, we never saw Murphy come to terms with the loss of his humanity as we witnessed him becoming cognizant that it even existed in the first place. This is triggered first by his dream, then by Lewis asking him his name, and finally him confronting one of his murderers (Emil) at the gas station. These awakened dormant memories, a direct link to that humanity and previous existence, and a subsequent quest of self-discovery ensues that he sadly is only really half able to realize and appreciate. He was not even aware he existed when he was recreated as Robocop, and at the end he finally came to realize that his existence was built upon the remnants of a past life ruthlessly and mercilessly destroyed, yet it was sadly a half victory because he couldn't fully appreciate it emotionally. I think it expounds greatly on the idea of technology over taking today and how mass media can be biased which can lead to corruption. I also think the characters are a lot more fleshed out and given more motivation and more things to do. I also like that it doesn't take it self super serious like batman but yet you still feel tension.

Yo no vi ninguna de las dos en el cine la primera la vi en formato beta y la reciente en dvd mas sin embargo la de 1987 me atrapo desde el inicio y eso que yo tenia nueve años me pareció genial una excelente alegoría de la sociedad putrefacta y corrupta,sin dejar de mencionar sus excelentes efectos para la época. La de 2014 simplemente me quede dormido en los primeros veinte minutos.

I don't know why but I'm drawn to the 2014 version. I will have to give it a watch as I've ever seen any Robocop films. I don't know why I prefer the 2014 suit. I think it looks a bit more real like in body structure you could imagine someone being able to fight crime using the robot body. The older one looks more bulky and although cool in a retro sort of way it doesn't look that practical for chasing down crooks or fighting assailants and criminals. I like in the 2014 one how the slit on the helmet is a red glowing light cause it just looks kind of cool and high tech. The way I see the two is the 1987 one is for the less technical 80s age and the first version of the character. Same with Michael Keaton's Bat suit and I love Batman (1989) and regard it as a true classic comic book film. The modern suits of Bale and Affleck are more suited to fighting crime and utilitarian in the modern age armoured and fabric styling. Same with the new Robocop. It seems sleeker, more modern and to me it looks more realistically metal armour as very rarely is body armour plating silver in this era plus the stealth black is as said in the trailer tactical for tracking criminals unseen at night or blending in. I also like the look of the tech like the bike and walker things. I wouldn't say that no extreme gore in Robocop (2014 ) is a bad thing per say as realistic action is not reliant on blood. I mean in recent films there is some very realistic hard hitting action with only injury detail and not an overabundance of blood. I wouldn't call no blood a cop out as attitudes on the type of violence shown differs. Films like casino Royale are waxy more violent than the 80s Robocop I'd wager as the realistic action is a times utterly disturbing especially when bond is beaten nude but a man with a rope and when he suffocates a man with his legs and you see him hang on ground technically speaking. PG 13 doesn't mean cop out or 12A as its called over here. A lot nowadays can be got away with that you couldn't in 12A years ago. I mean in the latest X-men film (a child audience) a man is ripped in half, someone is shot through the neck, burned alive, Decapitated, Stabbed by four different blades through the chest and you see the blades go right through. I wouldn't call that chickening out or a kiddified a cop out at all. I'd imagine that this is different from the violence of 80s but from what I've been told by friends who have seen it, it is in no way a film for kids! Can't wait to check this out as modern Sci Fi I really enjoy and this trailer has impressed me.

There's no contest, original all the way. Nothing to do with nostalgia at all, the original was just a better film. The remake just didnt feel justified at all. What I feel whould have been better if they felt like they really had to do another was have it as a sequel. Could have had it set in the not too distant future and Robocop had been decomissioned say 10-15 years after Robocop 1. Now things have got a little out of hand and Robo has to be brought back on line. If Peter Weller couldnt do it again they could go with the story line that Robo's face had sustained dammage in his last battle and gets a donor face, also this would have been a good chance to slightly upgrade his armour and systems. But in all honesty I feel Robocop should have just been left alone. Fantastic film as it was. Peter Weller just captured Murphy and Robocop perfectly, you could have sworn he was actually a cyborg. The remake just felt like a man in a suit. (Lets just not speak of 3, or the remake ;) )

The remake (which I just watched today) just doesnt have the cold gritty feel of the original. The characters dont have as much impact. that clarence guy in the original is scary as hell and its such a build up while Murphy tracks him down, and of course the scene in the construction yard when he gets that spike in his neck. Man the original had some serious balls. The remake is just too flashy and action focused, it doesnt have any of the dark, gritty violence or atmosphere of the original. I dont think the remake is the worst remake i've ever seen, its still a lot better than the shitty Total Recall remake. Shame they always have to go for the PG13 rating. The Dredd remake is the only remake released in years which actually has the guts to make it gritty. I didnt like how the remake focused more on his family. I thought it was better in the original when they pretty much brought him back as a machine and his human soul is still alive and trying to regain some memories. It feels like that was just too cold for the remake.
Como que antes las cosas se hacian de mejor calidad, ahora todo esta tan chafa y abaratado que hasta robocop es de plastico!!!!! Cambiaron el azul plateado que sugeria algun metal exotico muy resistente por un acabado negro que sugiere que es del mismo plastico con que hacen las fascias de los coches, ademas considerando que robocop de 1987 era una pelicula con un toque de humor negro y machista, pues el tenia una compañera que no le pide nada a muchas heroinas modernas dizque muy "feministas", podia tirar con fusil automatico, manejar a alta velocidad y matar a sangre fria sin esperar a que un principe la salvara, que la hayan cambiado por un tipo sin chiste y lo de hacer a robocop de plastico fueron los peores desaciertos de la version de 2014

Bueno, desde mi punto de vista, el único y verdadero robocop es el de 1987. Ese tipo del 2014 parece que lleva solo un traje sobrepuesto. El de 1987 parece que de verdad es un robot con la cabeza humana.

Arriba arriba Robocop 1987, abajo robocop 2014 no le llega ni a los talones a Robocop de 1987.
PREFIERO ROBOCOP DE 1987. SIMPLEMENTE EXCELENTE, ESPECTACULAR
I don't know why but I'm drawn to the 2014 version. I will have to give it a watch as I've ever seen any Robocop films. I don't know why I prefer the 2014 suit. I think it looks a bit more real like in body structure you could imagine someone being able to fight crime using the robot body. The older one looks more bulky and although cool in a retro sort of way it doesn't look that practical for chasing down crooks or fighting assailants and criminals. I like in the 2014 one how the slit on the helmet is a red glowing light cause it just looks kind of cool and high tech. The way I see the two is the 1987 one is for the less technical 80s age and the first version of the character. Same with Michael Keaton's Bat suit and I love Batman (1989) and regard it as a true classic comic book film. The modern suits of Bale and Affleck are more suited to fighting crime and utilitarian in the modern age armoured and fabric styling. Same with the new Robocop. It seems sleeker, more modern and to me it looks more realistically metal armour as very rarely is body armour plating silver in this era plus the stealth black is as said in the trailer tactical for tracking criminals unseen at night or blending in. I also like the look of the tech like the bike and walker things. I wouldn't say that no extreme gore in Robocop (2014 ) is a bad thing per say as realistic action is not reliant on blood. I mean in recent films there is some very realistic hard hitting action with only injury detail and not an overabundance of blood. I wouldn't call no blood a cop out as attitudes on the type of violence shown differs. Films like casino Royale are waxy more violent than the 80s Robocop I'd wager as the realistic action is a times utterly disturbing especially when bond is beaten nude but a man with a rope and when he suffocates a man with his legs and you see him hang on ground technically speaking. PG 13 doesn't mean cop out or 12A as its called over here. A lot nowadays can be got away with that you couldn't in 12A years ago. I mean in the latest X-men film (a child audience) a man is ripped in half, someone is shot through the neck, burned alive, Decapitated, Stabbed by four different blades through the chest and you see the blades go right through. I wouldn't call that chickening out or a kiddified a cop out at all. I'd imagine that this is different from the violence of 80s but from what I've been told by friends who have seen it, it is in no way a film for kids! Can't wait to check this out as modern Sci Fi I really enjoy and this trailer has impressed me.

el robocop de 1987 es mucho mejor que el de el 2014 por muchas cosas ya que cambiaron muchos de los aspectos de la pelicula en lo personal fue un gran desperdicio de dinero verla con mis primos en el cine

robocop del 87 un clasico, con 3 secuelas (no mejores que la primera pero si muy buenas) robocop 2014 no aporta nada a la historia, no es creativa, ni siquiera es un buen homenaje a la original, por eso paso sin pena ni gloria

There's no contest, original all the way. Nothing to do with nostalgia at all, the original was just a better film. The remake just didnt feel justified at all. What I feel whould have been better if they felt like they really had to do another was have it as a sequel. Could have had it set in the not too distant future and Robocop had been decomissioned say 10-15 years after Robocop 1. Now things have got a little out of hand and Robo has to be brought back on line. If Peter Weller couldnt do it again they could go with the story line that Robo's face had sustained dammage in his last battle and gets a donor face, also this would have been a good chance to slightly upgrade his armour and systems. But in all honesty I feel Robocop should have just been left alone. Fantastic film as it was. Peter Weller just captured Murphy and Robocop perfectly, you could have sworn he was actually a cyborg. The remake just felt like a man in a suit. (Lets just not speak of 3, or the remake ;) )

Debes creer eso por que la película te gusto tanto que no quieres admitirlo y prefiere estar de lado de los ignorantes que creen que el antiguo robocop es indestructible verdad o es que no sabía que el robocop del 2014 es más rápido y tiene armas potentes o fue que no te viste la película

La mejor película Robocop será por siempre la de que interpretó Peter Weller. Es insuperable el film como el actor. El de 2014 los gestos del tipo son pésimos para un personaje así, y sacando a ese robot feo es mejor actor Michael Keaton si hablamos de algo mejor que se saca de la película.

Sin duda el mejor Robocop es el original,es más, la pelicula de 1987 tiene mas accion y es mas atrapante que la de este año,ademas, si miran bien, la nueva pelicula tiene algo inexplicable: cuando explota el auto, el tipo se queda sin brazos, con el torso solo,pero cuando lo ponen en el robot,una de sus manos(supuestamente roboticas) es la de carne y hueso, A mi gusto, horrible la nueva peli,me decepciono bastante :/
Pues a mí me ha gustado el "remake", homenajea a la cinta de Paul Verhoeven de la mejor manera posible: con algunos guiños, pero alejándose lo más posible, para evitar las comparaciones directas. No le podemos pedir a un "remake" que introduzca algo nuevo y a la vez repita fotograma por fotograma la película original. No obstante, al remake le echo en cara que hayan sustituido a Anne Lewis por Jack Lewis, si se trataba de ser políticamente correcto (por aquello de las minorías raciales) perfectamente podrían haber escogido a una mujer negra.

The remake (which I just watched today) just doesnt have the cold gritty feel of the original. The characters dont have as much impact. that clarence guy in the original is scary as hell and its such a build up while Murphy tracks him down, and of course the scene in the construction yard when he gets that spike in his neck. Man the original had some serious balls. The remake is just too flashy and action focused, it doesnt have any of the dark, gritty violence or atmosphere of the original. I dont think the remake is the worst remake i've ever seen, its still a lot better than the shitty Total Recall remake. Shame they always have to go for the PG13 rating. The Dredd remake is the only remake released in years which actually has the guts to make it gritty.
I didnt like how the remake focused more on his family. I thought it was better in the original when they pretty much brought him back as a machine and his human soul is still alive and trying to regain some memories. It feels like that was just too cold for the remake.
Como que antes las cosas se hacian de mejor calidad, ahora todo esta tan chafa y abaratado que hasta robocop es de plastico!!!!! Cambiaron el azul plateado que sugeria algun metal exotico muy resistente por un acabado negro que sugiere que es del mismo plastico con que hacen las fascias de los coches, ademas considerando que robocop de 1987 era una pelicula con un toque de humor negro y machista, pues el tenia una compañera que no le pide nada a muchas heroinas modernas dizque muy "feministas", podia tirar con fusil automatico, manejar a alta velocidad y matar a sangre fria sin esperar a que un principe la salvara, que la hayan cambiado por un tipo sin chiste y lo de hacer a robocop de plastico fueron los peores desaciertos de la version de 2014
