Absolutely love Hera analyzing pro games and it is defenitely insightful. Shows the genuine interest you have for the game. Looking forward to more such videos.
The moment of Yo's defensive castle was brutal, like if organ guns were made for that single moment, killing +10 vills in seconds, beautiful game
I think the monks converting 3 step lancers was the win, without the monks the lancers stop the vils getting the castle up
Loved the part where the players played on Gold Rush and rushed to their gold. Clearly this is what seperates top players from us.

Really liked this analysis, would love to see more of these! Your explanations to every crucial moment made it really understandable and easy to follow
Love this style of video. Having a pro analyse a game like this makes it twice as interesting as just watching the game itself sometimes. Just to mix in some videos like this is great!
I think one of the reason viper won this game is due to the new organ gun multiple projectile mechanism. When both players are building castle face to face, 2-3 organ gun can easily stop multiple vills from building the castle. Also, they kill many vills simultaneously due to the same reason. You can clearly see difference in Yo's vill count after 2-3 hits.
Love Hera's pedagogical skills, would love more analyses. Keep it up che
I love the breakdowns. Keep them coming.
almost even more impressive than Vipers play is Yo's idle time during the 2TC with 5 vils forward and 5 on stone off 17 pop timing.
that was crazy good
I’m a fan of this type of content, thanks Hera!
Man that game was INSANE. Thank you for the casting/commentary Hera, cheers🔥
Absolutely love this series!!
Your breakdown of the games is super engaging!
3:00 Mr yo goes up as fast as Cumanly possible!
Really appreciate the respect in the competitive scene. Nice analysis, awesome game :)
Love how humble and insightful you are. This is a great potential series. Thank you
Great video, love Hera analyzing strats and games !
More of this. Lovely analysis
Love these stylish , short duration and informative explanatory notes. Congrats for the guy editing ur videos Hera.
this is outrageously good
love this kind of content, keep crushing it Hera! Appreciate you!
tbh I'd prefer a spoiler free title just for the suspense but I'm watching this content either way
loved this type of video and would love to see more like it
Did Hera say the Yo "went up as fast as Cumanly possible?" Very clever!@
Beautiful game. Excellent cast. Your analytical approach and genuine enthusiasm are such a good combination.
New guy here, I'd love to see videos like this, because, as a new player, you can easily learn mechanics, build orders, etc. But is so hard to learn the strategy behind the game, because we are lack of content like this. And you, Hera, are the perfect guy for doing them.
Love these commentaries!!
Really enjoy the game reviews bro. Very straightforward and informational. I enjoy watching T90 cast but honestly learn more and help improve my game from watching you breakdown a pro match.
Really great video, nice to see a breakdown for us plebs on the mind of a pro, the strat, and the adaptation as the game goes on. I'm here for more!
Wow, just wow! That was awesome and also truly awesome of you to recognize this brilliant execution for what it is.
14:12 xD never thought I hear you say that
I like the fact that this last year Hera has always won against the Viper but he's still a big fan with huge admiration for the Snake.
Love it, that's very nice attitude and respect ❤️
Hera has beaten Viper in everything, including the most heated competition: the Dravidians drama.
@@thalasyus i loved that drama 11
Viper still number 1
I guess Hera is the slightly better player nowadays in terms of tournament results. But I think Viper is a bit more creative / less predictable, so win or lose, I will always love watching his games for the pure entertainment factor.
This was an amazing game and a stellar breakdown. I would love to see more like this.
this is great content, would love to see more like it.
Love the analysis. Master class play by the Viper
I remember this game from Vipers POV. Quite the game to be sure. Your analysis adds a lot to it as well.
I love so much when you analised other games because it shows how to keep learning from others as well :)
love this kind of videos!
Excellent video. Looking forward for more like this one. Thank you pibe.
i really miss the late games of the good ole days (20 frickin' years ago!)
Great material! Keep it coming
Just going say I think these videos are great. Don't need to be often but when it's a game that highlights something like this, the steps involved. It's educational and shows that even some strong strategies like Cumans 2 TC boom have weaknesses.
Great video man
Awesome video!!
Woahhh that’s intense, what a power move! Keep up the good work sir
Love this game, fun commentary. More pls
This Viper guy is pretty good, he should consider going pro
very nice :) was interesting to see it framed in a "how to beat X" type of way
well told story
Hi Hera, this is one of your best videos I have ever seen from you! I do like your good reviews... I think (do you agree) the biggest mistake of Yo was all the time/resources spent on the tower rush, could you say he wasted his advantage?
i liked the tower rush, woulda loved more patience vs the fwd castle maybe? its hard to say honestly
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 another thing I noticed is those villagers sent forward were retreated. I would have like see something more creative. Or at least send them to chop wood at the south of the map. We them retreat completely right castle is confirmed and we see them at 9:54. I guess we considered the tower rush failed when vipers castle went up. But Yo completely blew it with a failed tower rush. Sorry that’s my take. I think patience would have been played a better factor
no tower rush did quite the job, it just delayed viper's attack, but yo should know it was still coming and should have castle before or at least not a deniable castle like the one he did@@salvadorseekatzrisquez2947
for me, when cumans 2 tc against castle drop, which happen a lot in arena, the aim is drop a castle as u reach castle age and then go imp and treb the other one.
The scout would just delayed himself, and he could not do domage to the other one eco cause of the castle defense
Really liked this video. Plus viper and portuguese always a classic
No Hera… Mr Yo went up to feudal as fast as “cumanly possible”
nice analysis hera!
Yes please more videos like this!
Hera has a good teaching communications
I really appreciate these pro-game analyses from you, Hera. TY
Masterclass from the GOAT
We need more of these videos! Love a pro analyzing other pros, keep it up!
You analyzing mid-tier players would also be amazing, so we all learn from common mistakes too!
The level is so high here. Barely any mistakes on either side.
Also suprised Mr. Yo tapped out so early; he tends to play on lol
great game and very interesting analysis thanks for your insights
love this video!
1:52 - "Mrreeow"
3:45 - "merMEOOOEW mermeow"
I think this cat knows when you're streaming and just wants to say "hi, youtube" lol
Yo had this in the bag. The castle applied pressure but didn't deny any important resources. A better strategic response would've been to double down on booming or something else but contest the castle with a castle.
Incredible game and review!
One thing I noticed is that Mr. Yo didn't pull ahead in res collected until early castle from Viper. The Worker Efficiency in feudal was also heavily in Viper's favour. Yo did collect 2.6k more res at GG but had 1.6k in the bank when he resigned. I think Viper just played with his eco at the absolute limit and combined with the timing of the forward vils and monks behind the organs made this look so perfect
Mr Yo going up as fast as Cumanly possible...
Yes please continue to review tournament games. It gives us a better overview about strategies
Feels like yo threw with the castle though, I think he still has a chance if he goes with a more defensive position and then mango defense, ram or fast imp with a vil lead still?
Hera, my noob 1400 mind is wondering if you think Yo could have followed up his fast 2tc mini-boom into something crazy like 3 stable full feudal scouts instead of going castle age? Or are the organs simply too strong and would wreck the scouts even in big numbers?
I feel like Yo should have amassed more Steppe Lancers that he had when that forward castle was started. He could have counter pressured those organ guns with cav while the mangonels pressure the villagers. Also that tiny mistake of placing the tower not also encompassing theVipers woodline ended up being huge. If he denied both stone and wood with one tower he could have had extra ressources for more pressure. It is amazing how good of a game Aoe2 is that such tiny things end up mattering so much. It is like chess in a lot of ways.
Yo goes up as fast as CUMAN-ly possible, you mean.
Strategy masterpiece
Epic game shows how important reading the game and recgoniseing your win con can be .
As fast as cumanly possible
what a review! wow!
Eres muy grande Hera !
I think yo knew viper was taking stone because of the wall, viper could’ve walled shorter leaving the stone out
Didnt watch yet but the title and the idea of the video is fire. Will watch in my next free time
11:33 Viper lost one of his forward vill to Lions 11
Great analysis. Even greater is that you're doing this for a game you didn't play. Hera, you're not only the best player in the world now (that's no more a discussion); but also one of the bests if not the best content creator/narrator/teacher for the game; a great advocate for age of empires. The community is very lucky to have you. Cheers!
Viper loves his organ guns
Could you do an aoe2 game with GM Eric Hansen, with collaborative analysis taking his questions about tactics? There could be many offshoots, such as a team game. Each chessbrah plays with a pro.
Chess x aoe2 would be a cool collab
I can ask them
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 Not sure if it would be better or worse to rope in Fedex considering he's both an AOE2 pro and a chess pro.
MbL is an aoe2 pro who's good at chess
@@ns-islandsroblox True, but I brought up Fedex because he's a grandmaster in chess.
A top 5 eco bonus civs per age video please! (Day 5 )
The portu geese showed them q men whos boss!
Would it have been different for yo if he went light cav instead of lancers?
Yo is going to go up as fast as H̶u̶m̶a̶n̶l̶y̶ Cumanly possible.
It really seemed like Yo could have won if he had just kept his stables producing. Classic Yo low APM, not spending resources into a loss. After the second round of lancers at 19:19 game time until game end 90 sec later, stables are idle. At least one scout while going up to Castle would also have helped: another unit for the fight, as well as just a unit for the purpose of doing what its name says it should: scouting.
The better way to beat Cumans is almost certainly to pressure them early and constantly. Just like how the Tatoh rush can win, where you build two (or was it three) archery ranges and cease villager production: a normal Feudal play is a Tatoh rush but with more economy instead of military, and early Cuman boom is to normal Feudal as normal Feudal is to Tatoh rush. So you try to steal their berries (of course), and then keep their base open so even though they have a second TC going up, you have towers or archers to pressure them from all directions, and they can't get stone for a tower or afford to build a market to buy stone, while you just shoot at any farms they make so they can't be used. Then they have 375 resources + build time used for the second TC that's idle due not having food for two TCs, and you can win.
Typical outcomes against Cumans are due to letting them use those resources, while the Cuman's opponent has "idle" resources banked up during a long Dark age or invested into going to Castle.
Rip YOs castle vils
I could be wrong but I don't think you've done a video on identifying your win condition? I think that would be helpful to a lot of people
good shit
Thank you Viper,!
I play Cumans a lot. I believe this was a winnable position for Yo. His problem is lack of production. Look at the game end. 700 food 250 gold 500 wood and a castle going up. And he has a siege workshop. He's still playing as if he's any other civ but just with more resources. That doesn't work. Best play, in my humble opinion, build 4 stables at the BACK of the base. Production is everything for cumans in castle age. You are behind in millitary and ahead in resources. That's the whole point. The only way to make that work is to convert those extra resources into millitary FAST as soon as you hit castle. Production is everything. Having the third stable delayed and all 3 stables under pressure is gg. Don't take the stone. Have a few more farms and a bit more gold. Defending with 12 steppe lancers and constant refresh beats defending with 4 steppe lancers and 2 mangonel and an attempt at a castle. The point is to overwhelm with numbers. Monks can't do that much against >10 steppe lancers. And steppe lancers can easily deny a castle. If they don't, you add the siege workshop and bash it down with castle age capped ram. Everything was going fine until castle age for Yo. Should have just made steppe lancers. Lots of them.
I think Viper would have won even better with the dravidians. That 200 wood and especially the urumi swordsmen would have gone a long way.
Chad move
Another thing to have in mind is that 20 vills lead is 1000 less resources and the score showed Yo had collected 2000 more resources so in reality its only about 1000 resources more
Nice analysis butat the end it's more like a throw by yo , castle at home preventing the push as soon as he hit castle and then go imp asap to treb and all was good
He didnt have the res for castle at home until then, and by the time he placed it Viper was already at his front door with his own castle and 10 Organ Guns and a handful of monks. Viper doesnt let off pressure at that point, Yo loses his 2 TC's from that position while Viper has all the map behind it to develop.
@@xXTheKingEmothXx The position of the castle was off, I am not an experienced player but it seems to me that he should have deleted the south west field and placed the castle there instead, safe from the organ fire
Hera being so freaking good at this game that he can openly say "oh yeah, Cumans are definitely my cryptonite" and still he wins almost every tournament he plays in... ouch xD
You'll notice that Yo could've easily gotten the castle up if Viper allowed his Organ guns attacks to be drawn to the cavalry, but he instead focus-fired the villagers and prevented the castle.
I wonder what would have happened if Yo had put a tower on the second stone of the viper.
Like a master once said: pick your strategy and stick to it
Why do they kill the zebras and let it rest there like nothing?
and then, why they do 6 in elephant 3 zebra ? is to get more food early?
i remember the spirit of the law video about separating food vills but now im not sure why they always do that.
Players have decided to get all their hunt in as fast as possible because it gathers faster than sheep or berries. That way they can age up faster and still have a safe food source in the remaining sheep afterwards, and pushing the zebra in ASAP allows you to scout the enemy afterwards. Timing is more important than pure economic efficiency in the modern meta.
Everyone tries to punish the cuman second TC.
No one expects the cuman fast ram push.
Viper played well indeed, but were there any chances for Yo to prevent him for going this strat?
