NGL i also hate watching it. It just makes me sad for the player getting this treatment. Wish the game didn't have this crap in it.
Non-standard attacks are rare, so I'm glad when it happens to me, it brings more variety=more fun.

@@NeblogaiLT I like non-standard attacks, I just find stuff like Persian douches and tower rushes- anything that comes down to villagers fighting each other, basically- to be fiddly and boring. It feels like there's so much less possibility for things to change when both sides are so resource-starved that one side's only option is "Double down" and the other's is "Just try to survive until they wear themselves out".
With the amount of food that blue had, and the cuman discount of stables and archeries, I would have thought that making some scout cavalry would have been the better play over trying to make castles/castle age. That and the availability of the siege workshop + 2 TCs allowed a unique opportunity to pull out in different ways. Even with the wood being lacking when he lost the TC and was spread, the amount of food built-up from the docks could have made some scouts to hunt red villagers and milita during his time in dark age and helped remove the amount of control that red controlled over the land.
ya and France shouldn't have wasted their resources on the Maginot Line, and Napoleon shouldn't have invaded Russia and i should have bought apple stock back in the 1800's when it cost 2 shillings and a small goat.

It is always easier to make these comments in hindsight. When youre double douched and double castled, strategy doesnt exactly happen like it should
@@kitkat47chrysalis95 He's not saying blue played bad, he's saying that despite playing well his strategy failed him, and is considering what an optimal strategy would look like. Analysing games improves your own gameplay, you won't be able to change your strategy mid game if you can't identify what strategy you should be using to begin with.

Wait... when the double douche happened, couldn't Blue have just filled his TCs with villagers and killed red's TC?
Surely 2 Cuman TCs > 1 Persian TC.
Especially since he could have repaired the TC that red was focusing on while out of range of red's TC, and red couldn't repair his own TC, since it would be getting attacked from both sides.
*Edit:* I went ahead and tested my theory in the scenario editor:
I gave both civs feudal, and neither civ fletching since they both didn't have it.
When Red's TC was built he had 8 vills on it, while blue had 10 vills at the lower tc and 7 at the upper one.
I tested it with Red spawning a vill in it's TC every 22 seconds (to simulate vill production with persian bonus), and blue researching Castle Age in its lower TC and building vills in the upper TC. (with only the 1600 resources available in the video) Red's TC still dumped its vills at the same time that Blue's first TC did. A total loss for Red.
Red's double HP and 10% faster villager production doesn't do nearly enough vs 2 cuman TCs with their local villagers. Blue never even needed to repair his TCs to get a great outcome, as his double damage output perfectly offsets Red's double HP.
In theory, but I don't think Blue even had enough vills to get full damage from both TCs, let alone gathering the wood needed for repairs
@@thomasvrielink299 Blue had 29 eco population at the time. Some of those were fishing ships, but I think TCs max out damage at 10 vills garrisoned.
He also had 1200 food saved up which could be used to either build more vills, or go castle in one TC and *still* build more vills in the other.

I think his think motive was, that his castle doesn't need garrison to shoot down a TC and has more hp. So that he reduces his idle time, while what's reds idle time?😂😂😂😂😂

The strat is one where inferior players can win by making use of an exploit.

If one knows this could happen one can prepare and e.g. make a market earlier, make siege. Produce some army out of that barracks to hunt down villagers.
If blue knew in advance blue would probably be able to fight this off.

Togami could have built a feudal age siege workshop and add 1-2 ram(s) to kill those Persian TCs (instead of mining stone for a castle).
The other option to consider was to use petards for those walls and some kipchaks for the walling villagers.
This looked so easy while watching, probably it was impossible to think of while playing...
Impossible. He didn't have that much wood.
And it doesn't work either. The TC villagers come out and attack the battering rams.
Remember that he only had a lot of food. The options were: scouts or men at arms. Maybe eventually both (so as not to be countered with only spearmen or only archers)

Love your content T90! This game brought up something I have thought about for Capture Age. How about a real faint transparent overlay that paints team colors over the areas they have explored (say, in a darker shade) and can currently see (in a brighter shade), with the overlap blended (eg red v blue = purple). Useless for an 8 player exploding kings, but 1 on 1 you could get more into the player's heads.
if blue needed 3 wood, and had 11 on them full of wood, just place a farm, you'll get the wood, without have to make a lumbercamp , or going to tc !

I think main issue about time of the double D was that blue didn't hop in the TC's, he should have more arrows to shoot at other TC, and he could create quite a few more vils at this time without being pop-capped, he could kill most vils building that TC at the time with 2 TC's. Other way would be TC elsewhere, go castle and prepare for rams, because with those he could still be mobile enough to run or destroy TC's, would be hard but if he did go castle age through trade to use earlier advantage he could do it probably?

I'm going to be honest. I don't get why persians still have this bonus. This is one of the few bonuses in the game that just flips everything on its head and makes it insanely unfun.

As soon as I saw where blue put that second TC I knew what was coming. For about a second I thought, oh that's clever, having TC's able to protect one another. But almost as that thought departed the next one hit me, I experience in my mind as a premonition the full glory of the double douche even before it dawned upon my screen. What a beautiful game.

Blue should have dropped a stable early on. With all the food he could have made some scouts and with red stuck in dark age there would be no way to deal with that

Blues mistake was at 13:00 : instead of dock you build a range and then archer defend from future tc drops

Wait you're supposed to dock in Nomad?
It's AOE, so the only thing you are "supposed" to do is have fun, but a good rule of thumb is "if there are deep fish, it is worth docking."
As always there are exceptions in both directions, but it's a rule of thumb that holds true on most maps, including Nomad.
If there is water, you dock.
If you are Malay and have a "only" a pond YOU DOCK!!!!
150 wood for a dock + 150 for 2 fishing ships = 300 wood total
If you can get 5 farms worth of food from deep sea fish, the dock breaks even (you need significantly more food for Teutons, due to their dirt cheap farms, pun intended)
Add to that, youre turning 75 wood -> Food, instead of 50 food + 60 wood -> food, and the fishing ships do not take up TC time, allowing you to produce woodcutters and food income simultaneously.
Im not an expert, and I dont even really build docks that often, but the theory and math does make sense. Hope this helps make it clear
As a general rule. To make a bigger ECO you have to create more economic units.
The villagers are the most efficient. But you do not access other TCs until castles, except Cumans.
In the Dark Age stage you have the nice combination: TC=>villagers (cost food)=>wood
Dock=>fishing boats (cost wood)=>food
You'll even be creating more than one dock. For 2 reasons: proximity to fish and speeding up the creation of fishing boats, and eventually(feudal or castle) fighting in water.
In feudal age, in group games, you can add trading units.
But it doesn't pay much to do it. They have a very large initial cost and efficiency is a castle age technology.

Rebuild TC.
Get feudal
Go archers or scouts, especially when you have like 1K food from your untouched fishing eco

1) the attacker (A) has committed many vills to walking and building, while the defender (D) is collecting res and making vills. if A sends only 5 vills, D should be able to kill them. so A must send 10, which means all of them, so has zero eco.
2) A then puts 5-10 vills in his TC to shoot. he can now make vills (if he has any food), but D keeps booming and collecting res, and importantly, finding a good location for his next TC.
3) the INSTANT D's TC goes down, he builds a new one.
4) the INSTANT his TC is finished, go feudal.
5) arrange to have enough res to make a new TC, in case A tries it again.
6) i think scouts would be best, because you want mobility and map vision.
of course, all of this will be complicated by the fact that A has tried (or succeeded) to wall everything in.
but the point is, you have to KNOW EXACTLY what to do in order to beat this strat. you can't work it out on the fly.
@@victorfinberg8595 yeah if you come up against it it really throws you for a loop. If you aren't walled in and you know how to deal with it, it's basically just a giant throw by the douching player.
Archers work better than scouts many times because they can shoot over walls, but it's situational. In this game the guy had tons and tons of fish. He could have rebuilt the TC, made scouts, and killed the other players stray villagers all over the map, then it's up to castle and call it a day.
But, under stress, it's easy to make the wrong call. Lol
That tower was the entire reason for losing.
If he just ran with ~6-7 vills and put his second TC down anywhere (not together lmao) a single Persian TC denying one of yours does nothing.
I only know this because I went on a spree of like 100 douche games and the people who didn't panic and simply ran always eventually got ahead. Granted not many stayed level headed until I got to ~1700ish but still.

well to be fair, the mechanics are there so if it can be done then it is ok.
having said that I am like blue on a different aspect,
I hate quick walling, which is mind blowing that you can prevent someone to passthrough with a 1% building.
so in both cases , the mechanic is there and it is being used.

I would have quit that game very early on. Such a unfun way to be play on the receiving end. Kind of the reason why I quit the game many years ago when people started to popularize a rush strategy that clinched the game well before castle age. Such strategies make the game not fun at all.
