The best thing i see in Wargaming battle reports is that they TEACH you how to play. Other reports i see is only "Here is what we got" then they skip the action and try tor emember what happened. Keep the good job!
Good afternoon (From here in the Uk). As you know yourself as an adult, no matter what we do, there will always be people who want to put another person down, even if they are a great musician as yourself, but you've done the right thing by blocking him. Listening to you express the way you feel about your friends over youtube was lovely :). I hope your okay we haven't spoken for a very long time, Take Care Bill, You know what to do -Jon
Great game, but the creating-a-wall-thing Matt were talking about at 06:09 only works if you really can spread them out as they will have to move due to the pile-in rules. The situation with the battle wagons would have been slightly different if you followed the rules for "piling in", which explains that you really have to move as many of your unengaged models their maximum movement to get them into base contact with as many enemy models as possible. There is "no holding back!"
@nerfman09 I'm not sure, what you're talking about exactly , but first: the nids, used in this Battle Report are not the nids of the new codex and second: Ordinary you cant attack after running in the shooting phase. But some units can, like hormagaunts, or Orks if they use the Ork Special ability , you can use one time in the game but not in the first turn. ( Dunno the english name of it . War maybe? )
I love this battle report, and great for learning! With the play by play of the die rolls! I'm realy hoping up coming reports are done the same way. 5/5 love the guys of MWG :)
Just a few questions/comments: Why did the carnifex get a str 8 large blast template? Also Hormagaunts are considered Infantry, not beasts so they don't get 3" assault. The only units (i know of) for tyranids that are considered beasts are Raveners... unless I'm mistaken?
@TheRlyNewHide Yeah, i just looked it up. In the old codex hormagaunts were beasts. So they had automatically the special ability ( sprint in english? :D ) . So they CAN run and attack.
@shahe66 depends on what you run in the necron army, 2 monoliths is already 470 points, if you run the nightbringer its +360 points and the lords are 200 points most of the time
@NoobyTube The Exhaust Cloud gives a 4+ Cover Save, sure. But you have never been able to take covers in close combat (CC)! Excerpt:Cover does not provide protection in CC as it does against shooting. This means that models do not get cover saves against any wounds suffered in CC, and for obvious reasons cannot go to ground. Get it now? Besides, Exhaust cloud says: The bikers have a 4+ Cover Save.
@197BRUTE if they were using the old codex the tyranid guns were really different and strength was dependent on the actual creatures strength with a modifier since the guns were bio
This video is very nostalgic. Matt before he went evil and became a necron in disguse. And Dan before he went crazy, grew a beard and became an ork IRL.
What is this new codex i have been hearing of? I currently have the one with the cover of a carnifex right below the TYRANIDS. Is this the current edition? Im confused.
Nice report! I'm confused though. Those gaunts at the end should have died because they fall back to an enemy unti; subject to the 'Trapped' rule in the rulebook, right? Or does Synapse do something really cool to counter that? XD
Since Orks are quite close-combat focused, vanilla Marines would suffer if they got into CC. But BT are quite close-combat focused too with their Sword Brethern, so in that regard you're okay. The main problem is that BT have the oldest codex, so they aren't able to combat certain tactics as well, but if you fought Orks, you should do fine.
@Fronken89 guessing you missed soemthing somewhere or have an older edition of the rules. Scatter should be 2d6 inches Minus the shooters Ballistic Skill
nob bikers have 2 wounds these can be taken as an elite choice or with a warboss in your army can be taken as a troop choice, warbikers (what dan is using) have 1 wound each other then their nob escort and are a fast attack option, the boomgun does NOT negate the open toped rule it simply sits where transported models would sit and takes it from transport of 12 models to 0 model transport, as for hormogaunts they are not beasts anymore, but this was filmed prior to the new codex release for nid
The quality of the video is not nearly as good as it used to be... I'm sad. Did you change camera or something? nice gaming guys. Happy wargaming to all
Am i missing something when it comes to scatter rolls?, because in this video you roll 2x 6s and it scatters 10 inches, i just read through the rules and they specify that you roll 1 scatter and 1 D6 if there is a Line of Sight, if there isnt, you roll 2 and choose the highest, the number displayed on that 1 dice is the number of inches it scatters in the direction indicated by the Scatter dice, then how come 2x 6s became 10 inches?, it should be only 6 inches scattered...or? :S
this is a question to any experienced 40k players: I have a BT army worth about 1000 points but have never personally played a game of 40k on account of never getting around to painting them (don't ask, its a long story). Are BT any good against orks in general?
you know, I have a friend who's nid army's pretty much impossible to beat. seems that his 24" synaps was wrong and all his gaunts can't move 12" then assult 12" it is actually fleet... i need to borrow his codex!
ok, cheers mate! much appreciated. Am planning on battling my brother's orcs and just wanted some info so i wouldn't get smashed and he get bragging rights for ages :D
@Dreez76 Orks useless? That has to be a joke. I have not once had any space marine army beat my orks out of the Black Templars, Dark Angels, and Ultramarines I have faced. I have been beaten by the Tau one time, but have beat them 4-5 times. They are far from useless, it just takes a very different type of strategy.
all those missed templates...thats why I don't run scatter weapons any more....they are just not reliable....sure, sometimes useful, but you can't count on them.
The best thing i see in Wargaming battle reports is that they TEACH you how to play. Other reports i see is only "Here is what we got" then they skip the action and try tor emember what happened.

10:50 Warboss: "Oi! I wanted ta kill dat big bug, ya stupid gitz!"
Boyz: "Sorry boss, hurr hurr hurr!"
Great game, but the creating-a-wall-thing Matt were talking about at 06:09 only works if you really can spread them out as they will have to move due to the pile-in rules.

Great batrep so far. Hope you do the rest like this one.
Just a few questions/comments:

@RepublicCustoms Its open topped does that make a difference? I think it does if you move a certain distance.
"What is wrong with my Carnifexes? They're all drunk or something!"
@Kerberus262 well warbikers still have a 4 plus armour save so it still was correct for the 4+ self for it wasnt cover save
@TheRlyNewHide Yeah, i just looked it up. In the old codex hormagaunts were beasts. So they had automatically the special ability ( sprint in english? :D ) . So they CAN run and attack.

@Maalve1 yep he is as hormies are beasts and he has 3 carnifexes which not many people would use
I found that was really fun to watch! lol
Keep them coming!
@NoobyTube

The background music in these vids are awesome!
@197BRUTE if they were using the old codex the tyranid guns were really different and strength was dependent on the actual creatures strength with a modifier since the guns were bio
its like a mixture of mwg,terrainahloc and an awesome battle report
i love this vid, got me into 40k 2 years agoe! :)
@TheSugaShanesta the only time ork vehicles are not open topped if it has an 'ard case upgrade. Which trukks aren't allowed
@TheSnowOrb
no its because they turbo boosted which gives them a 4+ cover save
to show speed. ;)
@krootkc
Its a ladder they use for good shots of the board. he must have just gotten tired or board or something
This video is very nostalgic. Matt before he went evil and became a necron in disguse. And Dan before he went crazy, grew a beard and became an ork IRL.
I'm torn between Imperial Guard and Space marines (is Legion of the Damned a chapter or are they rogue?)
I really want to get into this but the prices really turn me off... Is it worth it? Or are there any tips on where to get cheaper pieces ;D
dave what software do you use for doin videos :)
What is this new codex i have been hearing of? I currently have the one with the cover of a carnifex right below the TYRANIDS. Is this the current edition? Im confused.

Or does Synapse do something really cool to counter that? XD
6:15, thank shock... they cant run away, due they always succeds there ldr. rolls
Matt, is this 4th ed. Nids codex you are using?
Since Orks are quite close-combat focused, vanilla Marines would suffer if they got into CC. But BT are quite close-combat focused too with their Sword Brethern, so in that regard you're okay. I need to get back into playing. I really miss playing...I would go about every week to play with a few friends. Great match so far.
nob bikers have 2 wounds these can be taken as an elite choice or with a warboss in your army can be taken as a troop choice, warbikers (what dan is using) have 1 wound each other then their nob escort and are a fast attack option, the boomgun does NOT negate the open toped rule it simply sits where transported models would sit and takes it from transport of 12 models to 0 model transport, as for hormogaunts they are not beasts anymore, but this was filmed prior to the new codex release for nid
You're playing a badass game, AND YOU'RE SITTING ON A STOOL. I want your job.
@drewrabolt I know they're not in 5th, but they're also not in 6th?
@shahe66 did you ever see a necron army? they have way less models then a SM army
those carnifexs where probably his main strong point. if it fails this turn and the orks move to assault, alot of tyranid blood shall be spilled.
The quality of the video is not nearly as good as it used to be... I'm sad. Did you change camera or something? nice gaming guys. Happy wargaming to all
I am a big fan of the way the tyranids look .
i love the music tat they use for the bat raps
Matt, do your models a favor and spray a bit of testor's dull coat on them. There is a lot of shine on their red carapace.
do you have an ork stompa cause i want to see one
Am i missing something when it comes to scatter rolls?, because in this video you roll 2x 6s and it scatters 10 inches, i just read through the rules and they specify that you roll 1 scatter and 1 D6 if there is a Line of Sight, if there isnt, you roll 2 and choose the highest, the number displayed on that 1 dice is the number of inches it scatters in the direction indicated by the Scatter dice, then how come 2x 6s became 10 inches?, it should be only 6 inches scattered...or? :S
wich codex are you using?
@Obiloyd Nobz do, normal ones only have 1 wound.
anyone want to answer why the ork bikers had 4+ saves when the hormagaunts attacked?
I thought it was 3+ normally after turboboost
ya i was gonna say, you can't charge 12" with hormagaunts in the new codex can you?
dude what is the name of the background music through out the vid
@xpanda
This is 4th edition nids.
Are you guys using 4th Edition?
this is a question to any experienced 40k players: I have a BT army worth about 1000 points but have never personally played a game of 40k on account of never getting around to painting them (don't ask, its a long story). Are BT any good against orks in general?
Great vid! Keep it up guys!
lol Dan having a new battle prospective from on top of a latter?
@Callis57 one boy is 6 points , one khorne berserker is nearer twenty points. thats matters more than the slightly better stat line. Boyz are intense
why are you using old nid codex?
you from miniwargaming are special good because you play the game not alone you teach it other a little bit thanks
Epic music! What is it?
@Billythekid256 Hmm.... They actually have a 4+ save... How fun!
@TheCasanova1984 They had in the old Codex. Which they are using.
love vid
love MWG
love TAU
vid - Tau makes me sad
BIG 5 STARS !!!
7:21 that's one manly sound right there
Aerial shot of the battlefield - SHIT THAT'S ALOT OF BUGS!
I would love to see this done agian but with the new nid codex
@Maalve1 Yes it is.
Turn on captions.
Shoot phase = Tuesday starting now. In warhammer, every day is Tuesday.
How come Carnifex has Str 8 Template ?
whats with the ladder?
Legion of the Damned are their own chapter run by the Imperial Fists
You forgot to reroll your 1s on your hormagaunts due to thier scything talons.
how did he charger 12?
terranoholic? i would like to see some more terrain from that guy :D
you know, I have a friend who's nid army's pretty much impossible to beat. seems that his 24" synaps was wrong and all his gaunts can't move 12" then assult 12" it is actually fleet... i need to borrow his codex!
Dem tasty bugz aarrr goin' DOWN! Smash dem tasty bugz!
02:45 thats whut u git fore hiding lol
look at the first video it says clearly at the start that the nids are using the old book.
Yea I said that do when I saw all of those 1's
Also, I think what happened is, in the last 3 games, Matt's tyranids devoured the orks and thus got their horrible shooting skills.
Legion of the Damned isn't a chapter, you can't have a full army of them. They are an elite choice to add to a space marine army
10" that way? but your DIce said 12 and in a video where you talked aboutrules it said that each number is an inch.
these guys are the best...
ok, cheers mate! much appreciated. Am planning on battling my brother's orcs and just wanted some info so i wouldn't get smashed and he get bragging rights for ages :D
@Haloister 63 wasn't it?
@Dreez76 Dude, it's not the Orks, it's the unluckiness of the rolls.
@Sushichef00 The video's longer so they had to compress it more.
i'd love some scorcha trakks here... wahahaha no gaunt left:P
I have to admit Although the lower points for hormas is cool losing beasts just wrecked them.
Come on orks, you got to win this!
5:30 charge 12? i thought charge was 6
No Swarmlord? :)
yeah, they said so on the first video
@16clubstr I told him not to let 'em hit the bar before battle, but nnnooo, he never listens. :(
tyrants were only strength 5 in 4th edition?
its not open topped if it has that gun right
at least thats what i thought
@Dreez76 Orks useless? That has to be a joke. I have not once had any space marine army beat my orks out of the Black Templars, Dark Angels, and Ultramarines I have faced. I have been beaten by the Tau one time, but have beat them 4-5 times. They are far from useless, it just takes a very different type of strategy.
I want to see a 5th ed Nid codex bat report
C'mon Dan!!!! Make Ork players proud!!!
all those missed templates...thats why I don't run scatter weapons any more....they are just not reliable....sure, sometimes useful, but you can't count on them.
I can just see Dan falling off the ladder and into his army... That would be suck...
This bat rep convinced me to run tyranids.
