Gold fever is indeed a callback to the original comics and 1987 series. The idea is the user encounters a desperate need for gold to the point practicality and common sense fly over their head like a hawk. There was one time in a comic where Scrooge discovered a device that could freely produce all the gold he’d ever want, but he didn’t realize the weight of his gold was causing the boat he and the boys were on to start sinking, because his gold fever was distracting him from halting the gold produced by the machine before the boat sunk into the ocean.
All I do is Win was just a placeholder track, but it was loved by the team so much, they decided to just get the rights for it. Also, according to the creators, the Ducktales version of the artist, DJ Khaled, has a different name in-universe: DJ Quailed.
This is what ive been waiting for. Glomgold had no right to he this petty... yet he storms the fake funeral in the best way possible with copyrighted music at that out of nowhere.... One of the funniest moments in the whole show for me by far, even if it was a really disrespectful move..
Right? The whole display was so disrespectful and downright disgusting that even Bradford and the other two vulture members of Scrooge's board of directors were glaring at Glomgold in disgust...
I love how Donald didn’t know Scrooge faked his death. That means he actually believes that Scrooge was too young to die. Even though Scrooge is the oldest character he knows
The funeral scene music, "All I Do Is Win" by DJ Khaled, was originally a placeholder, but the creators liked it so much that they got the rights to play it.
honestly was surprised legal got it cleared for use when i first watched the episode would never expect umg or whoever to license the track for a kids show bit
This episode was both a reference to the comics and the 90s show. In the comics, Gyro invented a Time Teaser which was stolen by the Beagle Boys, in an attempt to rob Scrooge. Gold Fever was an illness that appeared in the fifth episode of the original Ducktales series. It was a disease where gold becomes top priority for the sick person. I love what the writers did to us in this episode. They made us think "Oh, sh*t. It's a 90s Ducktales reference. Scrooge has gone mad because of Gold Fever. " and then "Oh, it's a comic reference. A foe used a time teaser to mess with Scrooge."

The third season also has overarching plots, but for now they are spoilers.
Glomgold is definitely the most fun of Scrooge's villains. It's always fun seeing what the Beagles or Magica come up with, but none of them match the sheer wackiness of Glomgold and his zany schemes.
that episode was weeeird but also very fun fun fact: this watch also appears in the comics with the same power, tho it is stolen by the Beagle Boys who use it to rob the safe bit by bit and forces Scrooge and the Ducks to come up with a counter plan
Of all the things Glomgold has done, keeping extra beards on hand and literally showing up to his archenemies funeral in all white and throwing cash is top tier .
And it was sort of Fenton's in the original cartoon. In that version he was the one with the ridiculous ability to instantly count any amount of money at a glance.
I showed my friends the clip of Glomgold dancing to All I Do is Win and they thought it was an edit. I had to tell them it was actually in the show and we all started dying.
4:49 Con-con is where Ebenezer Vanderquack (Mrs. Beakley's son) meets his half sisters, Morgana Macawber (Magica's daughter) and Glitter O'Gilt (Goldie's daughter) all three are of course fathered by Scrooge. We also learn Webby's mom is Glomgold and Goldie's daughter.
In the old series we had an episode with the time watch too. Here the little ones steal the watch from Gearloose to manipulate a baseball game to help the team of Duckburg. Than the beagle boys steal the watch.
7:02 Okay, sooooo now you need to see the film Ransom from 1996. Mel Gibson, Gary Sinise, Rene Russo, baby Liev Schreiber and Delroy Lindo. That's the where the 2 Million dollar bounty skit from this episode comes from. It recreates it fairly well and the film is really nail-biting (for the 90s). Just wait until Mrs. Beakley gets more screentime as a result of taking the time stopping watch, as she uses it to do all her housework faster and opening up free time for herself.
2:49 there is lot of glomgold in this season. Sadly , in the next he ks like in 2 episodes , and other 2 on a poster. Honestly i lovemthis episode. And even more I love, someone watching it.😊
Old fogey time again, "Gold Fever" is another call back, in the old show, that whole mini-arc of a story that took place over the first few episodes Scrooge caught "gold fever" which was treated as a very real disease and fatal, although it never comes up again as far as I can tell and its not like Scrooge ever became less "thrifty" over that show either. Another old Fogey thing, the time stopping stop watch is a fairly old trope, I remember a few movies, an episode of the Twilight Zone or Outer Limits that did it, but I think it started in a dime novel, like one of those early 1800s tropes, one of those "new technology is scary" kind of things but related to things like clocks and watches...it might be even older, not sure, but specifically using a stop watch or just a watch or clock may be just as old as those are, same with the whole trope of cameras seeing ghosts, stealing souls, or seeing the future, a trope as old as the thing its self because of our tendency to capitalize on being afraid or confused by anything new.
Regarding the billionaires giving money, I'll sometimes engage in "wealth fantasies." I imagine someone gave me a large sum of money and picture what I'd do with it. I top off at $10 million and that's with giving a lot away to family and friends and putting a huge chunk in the bank so I can live off the interest. If someone gave me $1 billion, I wouldn't know what to do with it. I'd be giving away money like crazy so I wouldn't have that much.
0:24 Really Good Movie. Glomgold Really showed up to Scrooges Funeral looking like the Riches MF-er in the There. Scrooge is Really Smart. Also Owlson is a Good Character Both in Writing and Voice Acting. 2:16 DON’T! 2:23 You are a Billion-Trillionaire and Yet you Notice 87c has been Stolen. Also Glomgold’s Plan was kinda Smart NGL. 3:45 True.
@exeggutivejudge3747 I used to think that too, but unfortunately. MrBeast ain't a good person either. I won't dismiss credit where it's due (helping the homeless, healing blind people, disabled people, and giving water to people in Africa is great). MrBeast does however, have major controversies surrounding him that show he isn't as good of a person as he seems.
So this episode is (in)famous for being one of the show’s strangest, though I don’t think it goes truly off the rails until the fake funeral sequence. This is because we had already seen several main characters snap up to this point so it was only a matter of time before it was Scrooge’s turn, and even though Gold Fever isn’t real, he still definitely seemed to have a cold at least and obviously most of us aren’t ourselves when we’re sick. However, when Glomgold bursts in to the faux-funeral, the plot just gets ridiculous from there. Thank goodness they kept cutting to his office for updates on the bet, or else the bizarre tone of Act 3 would’ve been even more pronounced. Of course, as it stands, it’s still a fairly natural progression into Looney Tune land, which is totally fine, but *man,* did Glomgold go overboard in helping get the episode there
Don't worry, we are going back to plot soon. Remember when the moon people revealed their city? Well, that allowed Scrooge's gold senses to go off. He is going to send people to claim that city and finally find Della. Sadly taking the gold destabilizes the moon, and the third season is everyone trying to stop the end of the world. Would be a lot easier if Scrooge just put the money back.... Spoiler: the final episode is them making the entire moon into a new money vault.
The bit where Glomgold crashes the funeral is IMO the single funniest scene in this entire series.😂
The fact that Disney actually paid the money to license that song...peak.
That song was just a place holder, but it cracked up the crew so much they decided to leave it in.
Funeral scene is peak Ducktales comedy lol

Honestly, the fact that Glomgold had a 12 months long staring contest with the baby is one of my favorite jokes in the whole show.
And I like the fact that he’s still alive like he didn’t starve to death for 12 months
And imagine glomgold having a 2,000 year stare contest
That just shows his level of pettiness
It was probably easier due to all the dust particles being frozen

Funny, it's by far my least favorite. It breaks my suspension of disbelief, 12 hours would have been funny, 12 months is just dumb!

Can we just admire the fact that Scrooge was able to lift up Manny, Gizmoduck, and the others while he was sick. Thats some serious strength.
The power of money
In comics , when he was young, he threw a piano ojt of window.
Nah that's just the Duck family strength.
