+Violet Copper Well, I admit when I added a little rail to .22 ultra-compact as well as two ankle-holsters for my Glock 26 and my Smith and Wesson .38 bodyguard that I started doing this. Gotta practice your draw, might as well add some DeNiro into it while you do it. Just put it snap-caps and keep your ammo in another room, hell that's what snap-caps are designed for, Taxi Driver-ing. :P
I also practice a lot with my 1917 Cutlass, various staffs and other swords and a nice fuckload of really high quality knives like Spyderco, Emerson, and Ka-Bar. I'm ready for like....a zombie or two. Or maybe someone on a lot of Special K trying to kill me, pretty sure I could take someone like that without getting shot in the neck (again)

What’s brilliant about the scene isn’t just how De Niro acts, but how the environment is rendered. It’s the noise of voices coming from different apartments, of machines and vehicles outside humming in the distance. You get the sense of isolation not only because of what Bickle says or how he behaves, but because of what you hear around him, because you’re made conscious of the world outside that he doesn’t feel part of. There are people in his building who are going on living their lives while he’s cracking up, and you can HEAR this. It’s an extremely REAL scene in an extremely REAL film, and it’s our loss that American - and, particularly, Hollywood - film no longer seems interested in that realism.

The problem is that people stopped watching movies to better understand human nature, and started passively consuming media for escapism.
I know that sounds snobbish, but the truth is that not all movies are like pizzas from Pizza Hut, where one can demand to be served precise toppings, and without those toppings, it is assumed that they have the right to complain that the pizza was inedible.
If this scene was in a modern flick, audiences would lambast the sound director for not addressing the poor audio quality, instead of questioning why they may have made the choice that they did, and if you don't believe me, look no further than the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

Could you imagine them trying to do a remake? I will never watch a remake of a 70's film again. I tell people all the time. You want to tell it like it is? Well then MAGA right on back to the 70's, when we didn't stand for censorship. At the end of this one, you're left wondering, "What is this nutjob going to get obsessed with next?"

A singular scene that so vividly and accurately portrayed a modern psychological profile of human obsession born out of solitude, hatred, and enmity towards social order & every day life. It's a cheap box office move...hell, i don't like the bernard hermann music either...why a crabby old fart i am! Hate that old fashioned "movie score crap,"..should've had a static am radio playing an annoying pop hit of the day..music in Raging Bull was great, it came from a source in the scene (usually)..then scorcese has K-Tels Rock Hits of the &0s in Goodfellas and Casino...annoying as hell.
