  • Designing and Installing a Fire Suppression System
    By Aaron Gaghagen and Brian Gillespie
    Car fires happen. We have all seen the viral videos of cars going up in flames. A lot of the time it's somebody's project car or race car burning on the side of the road. Pushing the performance of a car can be hard on the components. These components can fail, possibly leading to fire. Many people choose to use small fire extinguishers mounted in the driver area. While they are effective, they do have their limitations. They cannot hit more than one area at a time and they require the driver or safety crew to operate them. These limitations are too much for our friend Vic and his K24 swapped AF CR-X.
    Vic chose a complete fire suppression system from Lifeline. It uses a liquid clean agent extinguishant that will put out the fire, but not leave residue that could ruin surviving electrical components and interior pieces. We show how to design and install the system.

    I love this build, own a gen1 crx and can’t wait for my engine to explode to have an excuse to swap one in.

      Just do it! When you get it up and running you will be so much more satisfied. The K24 really transformed the CR-X.

      K20 if you love the high revs, k24 if you want it to pull like a freight train! 😂

      Can't go wrong with either. Just think of your end goal and choose accordingly.

    Can a manual transmission from a k20c2 bolt up to a k24a2?

    • @averyalexander2303
      @averyalexander2303 4 місяці тому +2

      No, at least not without a custom adaptor plate. I'm curious why you are looking to do that though?

      @averyalexander2303 I work in a junkyard and a civil came in with the engine and transmission. But a lot of parts are off the k20c2. I have a k24a2 I've been holding to kswap my del sol. So I was hoping the transmission bolted up. And thank you for answering

      @@popcola1462 Makes sense. And I know the struggle of trying to find a K series 6 speed, it took me a couple years. I eventually found an 04 RSX-S 6 speed trans on Facebook Marketplace listed for $1K and after driving over 3 hours to go look at it, I found that the diff was badly rusted where the axles go in. The guy got sketched out and sold it to me for $800 and it fortunately works great. I later opened it to replace the diff with an OEM LSD and swap in taller 5th and 6th gears and somehow nothing else inside was rusty, so I'm not sure what happened to the diff but it worked out alright in the end.

      Not just adapter plate but clutch and flywheel too.
