- Local K-12 students at Steve's alma mater join him in performing his song, "One Mississippi"off his latest album, “My Mississippi Reunion”, a compilation exclusive vinyl, CD and digital release featuring a collection of new and remastered songs, all about his home. Azar wrote "One Mississippi" in 2017 for the official Bicentennial song of Mississippi which was voted in as the official state song of Mississippi in 2022.
Steve Azar knew that someday he would leave his Mississippi Delta home, where as a child he watched skilled musicians play outside of his father's liquor store, to pursue his own life in music. A native of Greenville, MS, Azar is a hit songwriter, recording artist, and music producer whose sound traverses a blend of country, blues, funk, and rock n’ roll, or as he refers to it, "Delta Soul."
Azar has released six critically acclaimed studio albums. Waitin’ On Joe features the smash hit "I Don't Have to Be Me ('til Monday),” which has received 3 BMI Million-Air awards for over three million in air plays, and is one of radio's top five most played songs of the past two decades. Azar has reached #1 three times on the video charts, including his videos for "Sunshine (Everybody Needs a Little)" and “Waitin’ on Joe,” which featured Academy Award-winner Morgan Freeman. One of his latest recording projects, Steve Azar & The Kings Men's Down At The Liquor Store, is backed by veteran bandmates of B.B. King, Elvis Presley, and other icons of music. The feature documentary Something In The Water chronicles the making of the record at the legendary Club Ebony in Indianola, MS.
Azar is the official Music & Culture Ambassador of Mississippi. He also hosts his own radio show and podcast titled In a Mississippi Minute with Steve Azar, available on all platforms where podcasts are found.

Wait, does Cody from Alternate History Hub know about this change?
Much better than MS’s original anthem
Does anyone have the lyrics typed out for this song?
you can google it.. I found them, Just be sure to add his name, to get the correct song
@@cathyb5759 Thanks!
no kazoo f tier
They should be ashamed they are the reason for the death of the Kazoo Anthem
Boring song without a catchy tune. Sounds like he is making it up as he goes.
The song is so long and diversified that it's gonna take forever to learn it. They're changing everything here. The flag, song, Barnett and all. Let's just change the state name too. People have lost their freaking minds here.
I agree! It doesn't really have a "state song" feel to it in my opinion. I just read a few minutes ago, the reason that they wanted to change the state song. Which I understand. But I just don't care for the sound of this song for my home state. And parts of the lyrics are okay, but as Christie Richard said in response to you, it's too long, and would be too hard to learn and memorize for some people. The lyrics to the original state song were simple, and easy for anyone to memorize. And even though it apparently has a negative background, the tune to the original state song was an equally simple melody. As I just told my husband, it's fine as a "stand alone" song, ya know, just for everyday music, but as I said, it doesn't have a "state song" feel to it.
@@christierichardson2841 Aww. Poor little racists are losing everything.
@@alanarnold6649 just shut up with the racist stuff. I didn't say anything racist. And why are you against changing the state name since everything else in Mississippi has changed? Doesn't just the state name offend people? It seems like racists/bigots is all anyone thinks of when they think of this state so why not change the name? Our leaders in Jackson changed everything else without our vote, I'm sure this would please them.
@Celticpath Go Mississippi??? Seriously?? A song that sounds like it's played on a circus calliope with a kazoo section for added impact?? Let's not forget that very melody originated as former Governor Ross Barnett's pro-segregation forever campaign song. This is the Governor who refused to admit James Meredith into Ole Miss which led to President Kennedy federalizing the National Guard to quell rioting, by whites opposing integration, on campus. THAT is a mighty strong link to racism and one which should never be forgotten.
This songs sucks. The singer talks in the song. An hymn should be more solemn. This would be a better song for ads of Mississippi's tourism dept.
I’m a Delta girl. This song touches my heart!
