@xlarve Bonsoir !
I think the speed's just perfect. Here are the reasons to support that. The title and the context. - "Dearest Jesus, are we here to listen to you and your word; direct our minds ....." This suggests commitment and a little meditative. It's a baptism hymn. How fast can it get? Secondly, the vast amount ornamentation in the solo line in Bach's writing suggests it'snot something fast nor rhythmical. Thirdy, in the huge cathedral, anything faster would make the details inaudible.
how do you know the real soul of the piece? Di you now Bach in Person? so ...? You are talking .... this is a beautiful interpretation.... I'm playing bach for 25 years, And I know when a piece caring a emotion. Bach = emotion, not a rythmical computerstimulation.. I f you don't understand emotion in the music, you don't know Bach!.. playing bach is not playing notes by the notes of some authors!
Playing Bach: the expression is not written in the score, you must have heard a good artist like Enrico Minardi on solo cello, he made me cry and laugh, his music was alive ,telling a positive message. Later I heard Segovia, he didn't have a clue, despite playing all the right notes. This here is very much OK
I have one answer. M1riccabona, you don't understand Bach.... Really. I'm playing bach from my 4th year.... there are no limits and no doctrines how to play bach. That are ego's that are talking who makes an compromis how to play it. And let you believe that , their idea is the only and the right one...
@mcheckley
He does use a tremulant.
The stop used is a Sesquialter, consisting of a 1 3/5' and a 2 2/3', together with an 8' flue stop.
Probably you don't know very well Feike Asma, one of the best holland organist and componist.

... and 'spot-on' with registration ...

I agree. It is too slow.
"Perfect tempo ??? It's far too slow and terribly dragging and the registration for the solo voice is muddled..
