She's incredibly mobile for someone who is over 600 pounds. It seems like half the people on this show can barely walk.
because they only act like they can't I'm fat and fat people have alot of excuses of why they can't lose weight
She's really tall
Really, really tall. Wish I was that tall.
She looks less than 600 to me but it’s the height.
@@eleanor1105 That was what I had thought. A lot of the people 600+ aren’t mobile. Height really makes a difference.
He's not annoyed. He's concerned that's a symptom of depression.
Ya!! I was gonna say he just seems concerned and wants to help her!
It doesn't hurt when you're asleep. In the worst time of my life I'd sleep for 20hrs at a time. I just didn't want it to hurt anymore.
@@clovs I'm an insomniac so would be helpful to borrow some hours from you tbh. All the best.
@nickycotton6137 same tho tbh, that time in my life was a decade ago. But normally I have serious trouble sleeping.
@@clovs Ah, okey dokey.✌️. Was just jesting sorry, but sleeping for HOURS would be handy tbh. So you've gone from 1 to the other eh! Awe, can empathise for sure & hope yours improves.
During my worst depression I slept 16 to 18 hours a day. Occasionally I would wake up but I would take around four or five melatonin at a time to go back to sleep just so I wouldn’t have to be awake. I empathize with her
I can relate, as I did the same thing.
@@rebellefleur435 I would suggest you talk to a doctor about that maybe even go to a psychiatric facility. I know it can be scary but they literally saved my life and although things are hard, it’s so much better than before

600+lbs?? She gets around very well! She's very honest about her food intake.
Wish her the best.
May God be with you today and always! I hope that you have a nice day today
I was thinking the same thing, she must being doing something besides sleeping to be able to walk without any help.
I think the height helps. If she was 5'5 then it would be different
She is still young and seems more active (despite all the sleeping/depression) than many on show that just wait on everyone else to do for them. I think fact she is already in therapy for depression prior has helped her be forthcoming.
@Tnc874 in my case you’re orrecr. I’m 4,10” I once weighed 399 pounds and it’s definitely mulch different depending on height getting around at least in my case it took me about 3 years to go from 499 to 188 pounds
It's actually refreshing to see somebody on this show be completely honest with their eating habits and day-to-day activities. She's not trying to dodge anything - she is taking full responsibility which shows she has a mature head on her shoulders. Hope she's doing well
I like her. I’m rooting for her.
Yeah, so many have the intro showing them eating 2 huge heaping breakfast plates at hi Em but when asked claim to eat “twice a day, all healthy, with maybe an orange for a snack.”
@@Itried20takennamesLike Dr. Now says, “the scale doesn’t lie”🤨
She's smart enough to know that lying to the doctor will only hurt her.
i think she was so desperate to get help, that she knew she had to be completely honest
She's obviously suffering from deep depression, sleeping that much and she's self medicating herself with food. There are clearly things she avoiding to deal with. She needs to confront those issues in order to start healing.
Yeah, I like her because she didn't give BS like "I wake up and go to the gym, then eat one meal a day, I do keto" etc. She seems pretty honest and likeable. I hope she has success :)
I agree. It’s not laziness, it’s a genuine psychological issue.
I’m thinking it may be sleep apnea too.
That or something is very wrong medically. Even if you're 600lb, its not normal to sleep so much. I hope she got help.
Right she feels bad because she's eating herself into a blob and has been horrifically abusing every person around her let's all cry for her
Dr. Now is 78 yo. He’s still sharp as a tack and only wants what’s best for his patients. He’s a true gem and he’s truly going to be missed when he decides to retire. You’ve got this Krystal. Stay strong!!.
I agree. Atm, there's no reason for me to see him. However, if the time comes, he'll only be 1 - 2 doctors I'll only be trusting. I find doctors nowadays are always in a race of time and don't actively listen. I wish my family GP is like him. Long live Dr. Now!
78???? Wow!! He’s doing well.
I’ve read that he and his son/producer have been very underhanded and manipulative to produce episodes that have a lot of drama.
@@ransomcoates546 I don’t really find this show dramatic at all, seems more documentary style than anything… there’s definitely some scripting and interview questions made to dig into their deeper issues but the doc barley has any screen time… he is a doctor after all!
My sister’s neuro is around 80. Its amazing how old these docs can be and still sharp as a knife
Sleeping so much is a huge sign of depression. I would be looking at getting her some antidepressants and getting depression under control. Being overweight is also very tiring. I was overweight and very depressed. After getting on antidepressants I ended up losing 60 pounds in less than 6 months. I’ve kept it off for over 30 years now! Being overweight isn’t just about eating too much
But it is, it may start as depression not negating that one bit. However once you begin to over eat it becomes an addiction no different than heroin or crack. Just less deadly and more delicious and you can go to a drive thru and get it. Idk if Uber eats is delivering heroin to anywhere but Portland. All is all though it’s a mental health disorder to some extent but you have to grapple with the addiction to food at the same time.
@@donttalkjustplay4274 while I don’t necessarily disagree with you, the fact that the only thing you took was “being overweight isn’t JUST about eating too much” from her comment- shows a lot about you😬
It made you mad enough to comment back. She’s literally 100% right on that.
@@miad6160 wtf are you even talking about? So what I should have gratified her and gave her a good job on losing weight? Because literally everything else was pretty much and opinion and personal experience. All I did was agree and give viable feedback but please continue to feed yourself 🤷🏻♂️
Great job
@@donttalkjustplay4274 you literally started off your comment with “but it is.” You said being overweight is just about overeating. That’s completely false. Give fat people empathy, not everyone is overweight because of overeating. There are medical reasons, genetics, etc.
The commenter was correct.
Depression is something a lot of people will never understand. It takes over everything in your life if it’s severe enough.
Getting over depression isn't as easy as turning off a light switch. You can't just get over it. It takes time. But, some effort must be made.
@@Richard-ZA01you are absolutely right. I am dealing with depression for a long time. It does take effort and medication for things to get better. Her voice makes me sleepy, very relaxing. Hey Crystal if you are reading this, we are all rooting for you and if you made a channel just talking about life a lot of people will sub.

Even in her voice I hear her sadness. I wish I could give her a hug. That’s something a doctor unfortunately can’t provide :( the emotional support that people need sometimes.

No. Dr. Now puts them on a 1200 calorie no carb diet. That wouldn't be good for a kid.
I lowkey agree but don’t. I agree the family should all join in on the diet to help make it easier, but not the exact same diet as it can be dangerous & unhealthy for other people 💜
It’s often a whole family problem.
@@tabbyreed8925 True, but they could avoid having unhealthy snacks and soda pop and such like that in the house. Even though the other members of the household could eat those things, it would help her a lot to not have those temptations around.
Nah, SHE'S the only one not allowed to use heroin. It's cool for others.
In all seriousness, food needs to be approached as a drug. Because that's what it is for her. And that's how it needs to be perceived by those around her. It's killing her, it just doesn't have the obvious, immediate impacts that illegal drugs and alcohol do.
She's way more open and honest about her daily habits than most patients are.

But I have to say her voice is really soothing. I imagine she could read bedtime stories for children to help them fall asleep. It is really calming…
Unlike Dr Now's voice which is extremely monotonous to the point of being hard to understand and is the grumpiest sounding person ever, Also very talented and clever. Hard to believe, he sounds so miserable, as if he hasn't one single thing to smile about.

The title of this video is not at all how Dr. Now reacted to Krystal sleeping for half the day. He was actually very kind and concerned for her.
Her age and weight also puts her at risk for sleep apnea not just depression which could cause her to sleep so much. My dad used to nap often during the day because his sleep quality was so poor at night, he got a breathing mask and that went away, his mood rose dramatically and he had so much more energy to live a full life. Maybe now he can lose weight and help him sleep well without a mask and without being smothered by himself
I feel so much for her. At the peak of a depressive episode I couldn't even find the energy to climb the stairs to my bedroom. I started sleeping on the floor in the living room and just had no energy to care about anything.
I hope you feel better now ❤

Actually that's a nice sleeping length, you don't really need a full 8 hours sleep and by sleeping for 5-6 hours you can save more time
@@ZkullShot no, its unhealthy.
Having low iron made me so exhausted and the only reason I know is after taking gentle iron supplements I feel so much better! It took awhile to develop and I kept feeling worse and worse thinking I had all sorts of other ailments. I made all sorts of health changes but nothing helped until adding the gentle iron.
People really underestimate what low iron does to you. Happy to see you improve how you feel💜
I am also anaemic and I kept thinking that I was more sick than I actually was. I was constantly sleeping and tired and it never occurred to me that I was low in iron until the doctor pointed it out during an appointment that was intended to remedy my depression. After six months of iron infusion, I am more energetic and less depressed. I'm sleeping 7 or 8 hours a day instead of 12 to 14 hours when I could. And the icing on the cake is my skin feels and looks better and I have definitely slowed down my aging. Even the dark circles around my eyes have drastically reduced. It's amazing what a sufficient dose of iron can do.
Do you use over the counter or prescription iron supplements?
What brand of gentle iron??
I'm allergic to iron tablets & iron liquid. Throw up every time. But I can take iron water ( Holland & Barratt) with orange juice. Vitamin c helps absorb iron
I understand her sleeping completely. Depression is not fun.
No it's not
Over Sleeping is a coping mechanism for depression.
She could also simply have sleep apnea.
How is she taking care of everyone else in this condition? It’s likely that she’s dependent on others to help her in her day to day functioning.
I assumed she meant emotionally or mentally
Your right someone else should be fixing the meal plans to give her a jump start. Putting her in charge is way to much risk especially if she's depressed.
She says “its time to focus on me instead of everyone else.” How do you focus on anyone else when you are only awake 6 hours a day?
I like Dr. Nowazardan. I watch that show a lot. He really cares about the people he’s trying to help.
Oh bull!!! You’re not taking care of “everyone else” when you wake up at 1130, eat half the day, and sleep the other half.
Exactly!!!!! I take care of my husband and household and 3 kids, a do, 2 cats and a flock of chickens. There is NO WAY I can get more than 8 hours of sleep. And she naps!!!! Seriously I’d love a nap sometimes….
She said that so it makes me doubt other claims she made of being in control. Dr Now already read between the lines and knew it was the opposite, the family is taking care of her clearly. She awake long enough to feed then go back to sleep.
She seems so honest with her situation that she really wants to change God bless her
You can tell she’s really depressed just by looking at her face. Especially in the clips at the end when the doctor is narrating. She’s got a thousand yard stare. I’m gonna have to check out this episode to see what happened with her story.
She looks way older than 34 wow. They all look very depressed. So sad 😞
Sleeping so much, It's not always related to depression. sometimes it is an extreme vitamin/trace element deficiency. e.g. For example, low iron levels can cause you to sleep so much. Also, certain medications can make you tired. especially antidepressants . without a very precise blood test, etc., simply to conclude that it is because of the depression is dangerous and stupid.
Hi, you seem to know alot on this subject. Do you have any recommendations regarding dryness? Mouth and eyes etc.
@@leemaher4257 oh, sorry, its very difficult to recommend something without knowing you and/or without seeing you personally. dryness in the mouth can also cause various medications. But it can also be something anatomical. in turn, specific vitamin/trace element deficiencies can trigger this. with the eyes it is often something anatomical. although excessive use of eye drops can also cause dryness. Ultimately, I would recommend getting checked out by a doctor. because there can actually be various causes responsible for it.
@@1.6180 Thank you for replying, Drs not much help, this has been a problem since Menopause, have googled with no luck, the only thing that helps a lot is a multi vitamin, but not 100%. Interesting what you say about eye drops, I started using them this week as I had something in my eye that I couldn't get out and it got irritated with me rubbing it, much better now, so will stop with the drops.
Well it doesn't take a genius to see that's she's depressed, she's in terrible physical condition, got big bags under her eyes and has 0 energy and her eyes are kinda bloodshot, not to mention her general tone of voice and body language. While he should prob do all sort's of test on her anyways, her severe obesity has gotta be one of the first problems to tackle. She's also probably sleepy because of blood sugar crashes, and perhaps dehydration. not to mention sleep apnea is very common in morbidley obese patients, which greatly reduces quality of sleep.
i’m sure they run blood tests after the initial consultation, even if she has them done at her primary care doctor.
Fair play for being so honest. Hope she makes it to her weight goal
She said she needs to put herself first. She's always doing everything for everyone else??? uh, the few things she said she does fix for lunch or dinner is all fast easy stuff. She said Ramen off the bat. I can't imagine they eat healthy meals all. She sounds like she only is out of bed to eat. She's literally awake about 8 hrs a day! 😮
She said that she needs to focus on her small family. Very likely she has family dynamics from her childhood that are still in place. I guess sleeping helps her get away from her larger family, but helps her neglect her small family.
Even her voice carries sadness.
Sleeping so much and depression is also associated with sleep apnea. She might benefit from a diagnostic sleep study.
I feel bad, but I thought she was in her 50s and was shocked when she said she was only 34

She has the insulin resistance and PCOS. I know a fellow sufferer when I see one. I also struggle with anxiety. Struggled with my weight for a long time, it’s not easy with all that extra stuff piled on top.
I handled my severe depression with Lithium. I would take 4 at a time, don't remember the dosage, and I would sleep 18 hours at a time. I know how it feels.
How does she feel that she is “taking care of my family” when she sleeps all day? I hope she got help
i can’t believe how mobile she is
She has a very beautiful speaking voice that comes aver audio very well. And a very great reader
I'm actually proud of her. She's not like the other people that failed, and gave Dr. Now a problem.
It’s probably a vicious cycle at this point. You’re depressed because of your size and because your brain lacks essential nutrients with that poor diet (e.g. vitamin B, a deficiency of which causes low mood). And when you sleep so much you are constantly lethargic, have no energy and keep eating. As someone with anxiety and panic disorder, luckily under control for several years now with antidepressants and better life management skills, I really emphasise with her. I wish her well.
May God be with you today and always! I hope that you have a nice day today.
Do u know which vitamin b? Or b complex?
During Covid I got extremely depressed. I’m 6’3, and went all the way from 190lbs to 265lbs. I was miserable, and the only thing I had to look forward to was my food and snacks.

Totally understand what she's going through
You can change
I relate to the sleeping for depression. At one time I was sleeping about 14 to 16 hours a day. In addition I did not have energy to go to the grocery store and cook a meal. I started eating at restaurants all the time. I am better but after an eight year. I gained approximately 30 pounds. I also have no motivation or energy to exercise or move. And I was a high school dance teacher for my career and always very thin. I really I am supportive of her but the depression will have to improve for her to move forward.
“I’m afraid I might see something that upsets me”,is rather priceless! If you haven’t seen anything that upsets you before you may be clueless……..Good luck!
This was recommended today. She moves so gracefully and well. Traveling two days to get the help she needs and wants. She’s incredibly inspiring. The way she speaks with such honesty and knows she needs to make a change. Bless her, I hope she gets on track ❤
I have a lot of hope in her, does anyone have any updates on her? is she ok?
Love how she starts off by saying “I need to stop taking care of everyone else and just take care of myself”, and right after that we find out she sleeps 16hrs a day.
I would listen to her voice for any audiobook at bedtime. I just absolutely love it. It is weirdly comforting. Does she have a social media?
"I'm a Binge eater" "What Binge eat all Day" LOL. Now knows the score.😊
