I know she didn't do the diet but man, I'm really rooting for this lady. I know how hard it is. I'm only 5ft 2 and got up to 233lbs at age 34. Someone called me obese and it destroyed me. I went on the same type of diet and walked every morning and evening. I hit my goal of 115lbs in 17 months. I'm 59 now and still at 115lbs. It is hard, it's not just dieting until you hit your goal. You have to completely change your thinking about food and live with that healthy approach. I'm hoping that she makes it!😊

It seems like a lot of the people on these shows absolutely have no clue about what reasonable portions are and what actual weight loss should feel like. As you know from your successful diet and long-term weight maintenance, you kind of have to shock your system into realizing that hunger is a good thing and the amount of fuel you really need to get through a day is tiny compared to what an obese person eats. These people seem dumbfounded at their lack of progress and it's frustrating to watch!

@mizfeng1442 If you are referring to Anorexia Nervosa, it is a LOT more complicated than that. It usually has a loss of sense of control at the core, & controlling their eating gives a sense of control. It also involves serious phobias (eg some sufferers become afraid of breathing in the smell of food or drinking water). Eating disorders are very difficult to overcome - sometimes in the effort to overcome it & change behaviours, it morphs into a different eating disorder. All eating disorders are serious, & none are due to the person feeling sorry for themselves.

    • @lifesong8484
      @lifesong8484 10 місяців тому +9

@@swolfe9668just because someone feels sorry for themselves doesn't mean their mental illness is caused by that. In fact, eating disorders often develop because the person is trying to *not* feel their emotions. Eating disorders are very complicated & insidious. They are far more than the behaviours & the weight/visible symptoms. A friend of mine came close to dying from Anorexia Nervosa, & yet now is morbidly obese. There are so many layers to eating disorders - much harder to overcome than other addictions, since food cannot be avoided entirely.

I don’t like to judge, unless the people are actually being rude or something because you never know what’s going on/happened in someone’s life. It is an addiction. They can understand that what they’re doing is unhealthy, and want to change it, but that doesn’t mean it’s gonna be easy. They’re likely gonna have slip ups. On days when life gets hard, food is their comfort, so that’s what they want on those days, even if they also want to stop. If you don’t understand it, think of it like a toxic partner: you want to leave because you know the relationship is toxic and unhealthy for you so you want to leave, but at the same time you do still live them and they’re your comfort so it’s harder to leave than people from the outside think, because they don’t know what your connections/struggles are like.

It's much harder when there's multiple enablers. When I was living with my grandparents, my grandma was very overweight and had uncontrolled diabetes. When I refused to bring her unhealthy foods or buy snacks she would get irritable and so the other family members would get mad at me. If I ever challenged what people were giving her or if I asked her to reconsider eating something and try a healthier option everyone would get mad at me and it strained my relationship with my family so much I eventually gave up trying and would just hand her the garbage she wanted until I stopped helping out and moved out to finish school.
Sometimes it did seem like my grandma wanted to change (or maybe she was just trying to placate me) but when other people involved have no tolerance for the stress that change causes, all they want to do is placate the person they're enabling and keep the status quo so they don't have to deal with the strain on their relationships.
My grandpa thinks she would divorce him if he didn't enable her bad habits and this was too devastating for him to deal with, so all the bad habits stay.
Change is hard and the human brain would usually rather creep towards a horrible outcome while wading through pain when each actual step is not very painful, than take a few excruciating steps towards a painless and better future. Our brain likes habits. Our brain like things that dull the stress immediately. It takes a lot to accept discomfort for the distant promise of long-term comfort.

"The food helps me forget the pain for a few moments....." This is why people need to understand that it's more than just putting food in their mouths. And that it's not as easy as telling someone to "just stop eating!" Being overweight involves so much in a person. And a lot of it is emotional. I feel for them and wish them the very best in their futures. I know they're hurting. :(

FREE WILL , whence is it given, whence does it end?
GOD created us 1stly in SPIRIT then formed our flesh in our mothers wombs.
Free will starts on the day you born here and ends on the day you depart from here. it is not given nor found earlier, as earlier you didn`t exist.
earth is testing ground, as it has became lucifers kingdom.
testing ground for us, to show GOD whom amongst us shall be deceived by lucifer.
All the answers are pretty clear ones - aren´t these? - MANY are deceived and FEW are not.
None of us can`t drag free will beyond humans earthly life, as it is not earlier nor after found nor given.
Jeremiah 1:5 KJV Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
FREE WILL is given for the choices which are here on earth to make.
      Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
      Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Since making choices and being deceived takes place here on earth, free will does not go beyond human earthly lives.

Of course, they never seem to understand why they didn't lose weight. They understand all too well.

probably a bit over a hundred years ago thats how most families slept in usa. (not with junk all over and a mess though) you didn't get a room to yourself. kids shared and older ones might take the sofa. i'm 65 and remember my grandparents apartment had a small bedroom and a murphy bed that pulled out of the closet into the living room at night. my other grandmother lived with her 2 aunts. she took the sofa and the sisters took a murphy bed that pulled into the dining room. nobody thought it was abuse.

Lord have mercy. My questions are: How are you allowed to just live in someone's home and turn into this? You aren't working (most likely). And who is paying for all of this food? Someone needs to stop enabling. You don't see obese people at a homeless shelter or living out of their car.

All I had to do really was cut out ALL sugary soft drinks from my diet and the pounds came flying off.

Not meaning to be horribly judgemental, but when a person has children it is so essential to ALWAYS put them first ,and that means to stay fit and alive .To think one’s children might find a dead Mum upon waking ! I have my own battles with excessive eating ,but my children keep me straight .I absolutely owe it to them to help them through their young lives and to set an example. Please don’t think I minimize the struggles of the obsessed eater ,but what a rotten thing to do to one’s children who didn’t ask to be born. Best of luck to this poor fatty .❤
