Yep. 32, 327, even 32ACP. Can't find it and if so prohibitively expensive. This is why I put the brakes on getting these guns.
I'm not excited at $1.00 per round, but I have to try it.

@@clawhammer704 I use 2A Warehouse out of Houston. One day delivery to my location but they sold out. I would like to have a little Beretta 32 police turn in for my wife. Her tiny wrist has a little arthritis and 380 is kinda snappy for her. But I don't want to pay a dollar a round to vet the gun and for practice.
Just a few tips from someone who owns a few S&W J frames chambered in 32 S&W Long. HKS makes the speed loader 32-J that is a 6 shot speedloaders that will work in your 32 H&R J frame. I don’t know if you hand load but Hornady makes an 85 and a 100gr XTP bullet in 32 that are a good choice. Again, if your a hand loader, your revolver can handle the hottest 32 H&R within specs if reloading; best expansion is achieved with hot loads. Finally, for practicing at the range, 32 S&W Longs are the “funnest”, most enjoyable thing to shoot. Once your confident your self protection 32 H&R’s are grouping well, no need to feed the revolver those expensive rounds all the time…
I have the HKS speed loaders (as well as some .30 cal speed strips). They will show up in the next video on this gun. As to reloading, I load for 9 handgun calibers, but I haven't committed to loading for this one - yet. If I determine I will shoot it enough to justify the cost of a full quick change setup for my Dillon press, I'll probably add that capability. Thanks for watching and adding your thoughts.
I ask my local gun store to stock 32 H&R magnum and they did. They can't keep it on the shelves now. Best defense round ever. I have the original 504 in the box with all paperwork. Love it.

I'll take a shrouded barrel over the unpinned barrels, I've had 3 new S&W revolvers with unpinned barrels "walk" on me and put me off target until my late husband saw that the barrel had moved. I've shot revolvers since 1977 when I started shooting with a S&W model 27 6"barrel. I've been in love with revolvers ever since, I own 34 revolvers now

@@RidersRange I had sold that one also, bought a new one about 12 years ago and that barrel walked on me , so I bought a used 4" model 27 and that one has been fine
@@RidersRange My first center fire revolver was a model 28 which is the unpolished version of the 27. Really nice gun to shoot especially after a gunsmith polished the action.
When I bought my 4" SP101 in .327, I grabbed every box of .32 H&R, .32 short, and .32 long Cabela's had on their shelves; it was six boxes total. They had no .327. Got home and immediately ordered a few boxes of Buffalo Bore.
I like Buffalo Bore ammo, but it's almost $2.00 per round in .32 H&R. And the two Cabela's in my area didn't have any .32 ammo, so I ordered from Lucky Gunner (had it in two days) and Federal (still waiting on that order). Thanks for watching.

Buffalo Bore .32H&R standard pressure loads are only flat wadcutters. To go to a Keith-style or JHP means +P. All of the Buffalo Bore .32H&R ammo is almost $2.00 for each round. Thanks for watching.
The cost and availability of 327 magnum is what got me into reloading. It's still not dirt cheap, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of projectile variety. Still a great round. 2000fps out of a 16" barrel.

Very much enjoy my 32acp automatics. Have always thought 32 is generally underrated. Expensive cartridges but inexpensive to reload. Looking forward to your review of the 32 revolver.

Reloading is the way to go. I load 32 S&W long, and also 7.5 Swiss Ordinance which the ammo is in the obsolete category. Fiocci makes it however not for the US market so no longer imported. The few boxes I saw on gun Broker were asking g $250.00 for a box of 50. I can reload it for a reasonable amount.
No more GP-11 :( But I hand load them ..

Target Sports USA stocks several brands of .32 S&W Long.
My LGS sells PPU cheaper than anything on the TSUSA site.

Do you not handload? Dies will load all the lengths of the rimmed 32s, and if necessary you can trim those long 32 Federal cases down to H&R length to fit the fine little blaster!
I priced a full quick-change setup for my Dillon at close to $500. (I know, I could just buy dies and shell plate for a lot less, but I'm basically lazy, so I like to full quick-change setup.) The question is, am I likely to shoot more than 500 rounds of ammo through this gun? If not, I'll just buy ammo, rather than reload. Thanks for watching.

I don't know why S&W has this caliber round when they could haven made this gun in .327 Federal Mag, which is much more available and has more options!!!!
I agree the .327 Federal would have been nice, as one could still use the .32 H&R, .32 S&W Long and .32 Short. However due to the substantially higher pressure of the .327 Federal, I'm guessing that the same diameter cylinder would have been limited to 5 rounds, rather than the 6 rounds of .32 H&R. But that's just a guess. I could be wrong. Thanks for watching.
I picked up the taurus 327 a couple of weeks ago. Shot .327 mag, h and r mag and s and w long out of it so far. Really nice... if the price of ammo came down it would be really nice. Changed the front sight on both the taurus and my ruger lcr.357. Drift pin. 5 minutes if you have the right tools. Weeks of searching ordering and waiting if you don't. But worth it in the end.

i got a lever action rifle a model 99 from an uncle in .250 savage that i can’t find ammo anywhere and when i did find some it was $80.00 a box.
$4.00 per trigger pull - Ouch.
I wanted one of these when they were announced but didn't want to wait so I went with the Smith 638. These are point and shoot guns for close quarters,you don't need sights on them plus the 638 has a hammer for single action. Just checked midway USA and they have your caliber in stock.
I carried a Model 38 (1974 vintage) as a backup gun for most of my career. I have done a couple videos on the Model 38. As to shooting beyond "bad breath" distance, I don't train to the "statistical averages". I want to know the limits of my capability with each gun I carry so I can be prepared if and when something outside the averages happens. (Plus, I like the challenge.) So, yes, I'll be trying it at 25 and 50 yards in my range review. In a defensive situation, one will virtually never shoot single action, so I don't test revolvers in SA mode. And a good revolver, when used properly, can shoot just as well double action as single action. Thanks for watching.
It will also shoot 32 acp. Just so you know. They may give trouble ejecting because of the small rim, but they do work.
The thickness of the rim on .32ACP ammo makes ignition less than reliable, and as you pointed out, it makes ejection also less than reliable. I'll stick to .32 Long and .32 H&R. Thanks for watching.

I only like old school guns, most of mine are from the '60s and '70s. Guns from that era work just fine. They will do anything you need a gun to do, and they still look and feel like guns should. I would never own a revolver without a hammer. I would never own a plastic gun or a striker fired gun. Yes I have an AR-15. A 20" M16A1 style with a full size non adjustable stock and a triangular barrel shroud. Those are from the early '60s. There are so many great guns from that era. As for it costing $1 every time you pull the trigger, that applies to just about every gun but .22LR and 9mm.
I'm with you on guns from the '60s and '70s. But back then as a rookie cop with little kids, it was sell a gun to buy a gun. Ahhh, if I only could have a bunch of the great revolvers I had to sell back then...... Thanks for watching and adding your thoughts.
Sorry, but with today's ammo 32H&R is the same energy as 38SP. Not +P but regular 38SP. With less recoil like you said. Also if this is your carry then a dollar a round is not that much, your life is worth more. Just my opinion.

Yes , it will have noticeably less recoil than .38 Special.
And , yes . As we're emerging from the most recent ammo shortage , mfgs are still concentrating production on the handful of biggest sellers , and * other * calibers are still in short supply .
The good news is that .32 Mag and .32 S&W Long are dream cartridges for handloaders .

C'mon guys! Those of you complaining about calibers that are obsolete or that you think soon will be... RELOAD!!! If you reload you can:
• Get ammo whenever you want it
• Spend a whole lot less on the ammunition you do get
• Afford the amount of practice you need
• Create the loads that should be available for your gun(s) but aren't (example: most 44 shooters reload because factory 44 Special ammo is absurdly underpowered and over priced, while factory 44 Magnum ammunition is needlessly overpowered, unless you have grizzlies or polar bears in your back yard)
Without primers, reloading is pointless
I already reload for 9 different hand calibers. If I were to shoot the .32 H&R a lot, I could justify another $500 for a complete quick-change setup for my Dillon. But I'd have to shoot that caliber a whole lot to justify the initial cost. Thanks for watching.

@@RidersRange If you are like me, you shoot 3 or 4 calibers the most, and a handful of others minimally. My progressive presses are for the calibers I shoot a lot. The others can be done on a single stage press.
I got the S&W 632-1 For my daughter's. Great gun's, .327 fed. Mag. I already had plenty of ammo in .32 S&W. But the .327 and .32 H&H is harder to find.
MidwayUSA has both 32 S&W Long and 32 H&R in stock right now. But there is no such thing as cheap ammo anymore. But you can still reload 32 S&W Long, 32 H&R, and 327 Federal pretty reasonable. Once you have the brass the rest of the components are not that expensive. In any of the 32s you can load a lot of rounds with a pound of powder.
Have quite a few 32 revolvers in the collection. Great fun at the range. The 32 H&R has a lot less felt recoil than a 38 in the same size/weight gun. The 327 Federal has a lot less recoil than a 357 but the muzzle blast from a short barrel 327 is nasty. If I shoot my ported S&W 632 in 327 very much I`ve started using double hearing protection. Muff over ear plugs.

Reload your own,cheeper than factory and you custom load the best ammunition for it that can be had. I've been doing it over 44years. papa 😊

@RidersRange I'm loading 20 calibers now and always used single stage press,s 45years. if I buy a new caliber, then new dies, bullets, brass so I generally try to buy what I reload.but think about 10 mm which I don't really need. Just another case of the can't help it's. Papa

T/C SUPER 14 bull with factory muzzle brake in .35 Remington. Great whitetail pistol but $3 A ROUND is freaking insane, if you can find it. Local shops don't carry it and won't order it. Not gonna reload for it, I won't shoot it that much.

A friends daughter was gifted the 38 special version of thet hammerless revolver. Wouldn't shoot for shit. Neither of us could hit this huge target from 10 yards away. I have S & W revolver that I shoot in double action 90% of the time that I shoot decently but his daughters had to of had something wrong with it like the sights being way off and of course they're not adjustable. S & W quality on their revolvers has gone way down. Mine was made in 1969 when they made maybe the best revolvers.
I have a Cimarron Model P Jr. in 32 WCF, aka .32-20, with an extra cylinder for .32 H & R Magnum. Haven't fired a single round of factory ammo, and reload for both calibers, as well as .32 S & W Long. I believe I got the brass from Grafs. Reloading is definitely the way to go.
I reload for 9 different handgun calibers, but I shoot all of them - a lot. If I end up getting more guns in .32, or end up shooting this one a lot, I may bite the bullet and spend the $500 for another Dillon quick-change setup. But if I only shoot this occasionally, the additional investment would never pay off. Thanks for watching.

Haha I did the same thing at the onset of cv19 … bought a Ruger 57 cuz I loved the idea of a longer range capable handgun with high velocity…. But when I purchased it couldn’t find the ammo anywhere… abundant now tho.

I have been reloading for 41 magnum since 1976. It's a great cartridge. I always wanted a model 57 or 58 but was never in the right place at the right time.

When it comes to smoothing out a revolver aside from just pulling the trigger, I have found that no matter who the manufacturer is and whether we are talking about a brand new revolver or a used one you can trigger by 50%, simply adding a lot more oil to the internals.
I have found that even the most premium revolvers on the market are basically bone dry to my standards and after oil them thoroughly the trigger dramatically smoother
I agree, though I dry-fire a Smith revolver hundreds of times to wear in the parts, then clean and lube it. That usually does wonders for the feel of the trigger. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I got the same model in May. It took me until July to acquire ammo for it. Took it to the range and had a bunch of FTFs. It's now back at S&W.
I ordered .32 Long and .32 H&R from Lucky Gunner and had it in 2 days. More coming from Federal. Once I get the Federal, I'll shoot the gun. I hope mine doesn't let me down. Thanks for watching.
I think it's a sweet looking revolver! And you have choices with ammo! ( I, too, have bought handguns simply because I liked the look of them.) I hope you'll do some shooting with that .32 magnum and I'd be very interested in felt recoil compared to the Ruger and the .38 special.

I bought the 32 cal. ammo years ago when I was aquiring Russian Nagant revolvers. I was just yesterday looking for 32 (not long) for a 31 cal black powder conversion cylinder. Hard to find.

I certainly hope your revolver is better than the trash M&P "Bodyguard" in .38Spl (+P), with the useless/pointless laser that The Lovely Bride and I picked up new in 2019. She liked it for about an hour before deciding it was trash. I carried and shot it for a few weeks before deciding I would be better off with a homemade slingshot and a pocket full of smooth flat river rocks. Current "pocket/snubby" revolvers from Ruger also leave us cold. We will probably be going for something from Taurus for each of our summer, early fall, CDC very shortly.
I have great luck with the Taurus 605 Poly. Carry it on the farm every day and no issues.
The S&W Bodyguard is a budget revolver for which I don't have kind words. On the other hand, I like and occasionally carry a S&W 642 and I have high hopes for this 432. I also like the 9mm Ruger LCR. Thanks for watching and adding your thoughts.
@@762SuperI "discovered" Taurus many years ago and have yet to own one in any caliber or action type that did not work as it should have. All were solid idly made and more accurate than I was ever able to shoot them off hand. I carried one particular Taurus, a stainless 85CH for years as backup to the service weapons I was issued and off duty and never once had a problem with it. But when it came to S&Ws it has been a crap shoot. Poor fit and finish, horrible trigger pulls, and even one case of a .41 Magnum barrel that had been screwed in a Model 29 frame and boxed at the factory as a .44 Magnum M-29. My Rugers have been better by far but of late quality of materials and workmanship have been, underwhelming in my opinion. Not awful just not as good as it once was.
Check out Palmetto State Armory for ammo. You may find the best deal on the market there like with anything else they sell lol. Pi hear some knock on PSA but when it comes to ammo, they’ve never let me down. Also, most of the times you can set up a payment plan if you don’t want to pay all at once, usually 4 interest free payments, every two weeks type of thing. Nice tool though, good video 🍻

That caliber choice is a full no go for me. Not sure why S&W wasted a solid update. Only 5 shots from the .38, should be a minimum of 6 imo. With all the R&D, they could have made it work...or if you must use this .32...why not go all out and make the offering in .327 Mag. which opens up more options of waaaay too expensive ammo. How about a 9mm 6 shot version so we can afford to shoot it?
I'm with you on the .327 Federal, though the max pressure on the .327 is almost double the .32 H&R, so that may be an issue in a 6-shot J-Frame cylinder. Although, Ruger does their LCR 6-shot in .327 Federal, so I would think Smith could.
hi there, have an older S&W M432 ( weighs in at 13 oz) and have to say I love this gun. yeah ammo can be expensive, but all calibers are going up. I remember paying $13 for 500 rounds of Rem 22lr back in the 80s. you should like this gun and I would say handload for it. but also stock up on all the 32s that can fit n this gun. there are some good 32S&W Long rounds out there for self defense and rounds like Fed 85 Grain HR Magnum is a good round. have it in mine. recoil s less than that of 38 special and the bad guy will just as dead good luck wth your new gun.

You can find all this ammo just expensive. Get a few boxes and don’t shoot it much.
I’ve got a 41 magnum like that . I’ve got 7 or 8 50 round boxes and I’m hoarding them. When I go shoot I go with 9mm, 10 mm , 45acp pretty inexpensive to pratice.
I shoot 12,000 to 15,000 rounds a year (testing guns ain't cheap). So far, this little .32 is the most expensive gun per trigger pull of anything I've shot this year. Even .41 Mag and .44 Mag are cheaper per shot. (But I do like this gun so far.) Thanks for watching.

I like the 327 fed mag ….but it doesn’t have a hammer …..I like a hammer on a revolver
To each their own, but in my not-always-so-humble-opinion, a little gun should always be shot double-action (any defensive gun, for that matter), so an exposed hammer is useless - and it can get in the way of the draw when carried in a pocket holster. And with a proper training and a smooth trigger, double-action can be just as accurate as single-action. But again, that's just my opinion. Thanks for watching.

If you want to get really hot loads, you can. But stuff rated at 1350fps is good anything short of big animals.
I like the 125 grain flat-nose. It's about 46¢, less than half the price of 9mm "hyper ammo." I can practice and carry the same ammo.
In a subcompact I carry in summer, there is still plenty of velocity, and if I have to make a 50-yard shot, I'm confident I can.
9mm is kind of anemic, and if you put regular 9 ammo in a micro or subcompact, anything over 10-12 yards starts becoming iffy.
@keithgraham9547, I plan a review on a friend's P228 (229?) in .357 Sig later this summer. So many fine guns out there, but so little money.

I used to be comfortable carrying a .22lr Jimenez Arms with a 6-sjot magazine, figuring a mugger in the parking lot was the primary threat.
After all the riots and "free zones," I re-evaluated and researched real-world statistics, such as you can find. Besides carrying a 45 in sweatshirt weather, I concluded 357 SIG was head and shoulders the next best choice.
Only Glock still makes new 357 SIG. (Stupid manufacturers!) You can get one for $500-$600. I bought a G33, the subcompact, but most people will prefer a G31 or 32.
I also found a used SIG P229 in 40 cal, and they threw in a 357 SIG barrel, $615 including tax. Several brands will have 40 cal models, and you can buy a 357 SIG barrel for $150-$200. Check pawn shops, for example, and haggle.
Magazines, slide, everything is the same for 357/40, except the barrel.
I like da/SA - you can find cheap used models that have the stupid DAK trigger, or LEM if it's H&K. Maybe you like those, I don't.
I order ammo online. Use ammo seek . C o m to find prices. I like L. a. X Ammo.

I purchased a new S&W 642 Performance Center 38 +P in Apr. 2024,
The Lipsey enhanced UC version had just become available, and I considered the 38+P. model.
I felt the upgrade XS Sights & the G10 grip did not particularly warrant the $200 increase.
Nice as they are at the end of the Day, I EDC pocket carry with either wadcutters or Critical Defense
110 grain.

Resently i got a Beretta 84-B CHEATA series European Police trade in , in Excellent condition shoots great super accurate, i was surprised to find out 380 cost twice the price of 9mm.

Not that strange of offbeat. The .32 H&R Magnum has been around since 1984. Smith & Wesson made revolvers for it a while ago, but I'll admit it wasn't that popular. Ruger, Taurus and Charter Arms have made revolvers in .32 H&R Magnum continuously for quite a while. Now that Lipsey's has "modernized" S&W J-Frame revolvers in that caliber, I anticipate it will become a little more popular, as there are advantages over the .38 Special for those who prefer the simplicity of a revolver. I ordered .32 ammo from three different sources and had it within two days of my order from two of those sources. The third source took six days to get it to me. And my local FFL usually carries that caliber ammo, but they were temporarily out of stock.

Not a lot of .41AE pistols out there. And ammo is even more scarce and twice as expensive - when you can find it. Ouch.

Most guns are really inexpensive compared to the ammo . At a dollar or two a round it does not take too long to shoot more ammo than the gun cost.

I understand completely why you bought it. If I had the money I would buy one too. And I would absolutely buy a set of dies.
If I planned on shooting more than 1,000 rounds out of this gun over the next couple years, I could justify spending around $500 on the complete quick change setup for my Dillon press. But less than 1,000, it's hard to justify the additional reloading setup. Thanks for watching.

Dillon Quick Change Kit: $165; Caliber Conversion: $75; Redding 3-Die Set: $178; Plus tax and shipping = Just north of $450. (Dillon die set is $50 cheaper, but out of stock.) Yes, I probably could get by with just a die set and shell holder for my RCBS single stage press and hand measure each powder charge, but I'm getting too lazy for that.

Recently sold a couple of guns through a ffl business in 38s&w and a colt in 32acp but the real reason they sold so quickly was because I included a couple of hundred rounds with the gun. But the only one I wish I had a version of is the iver johnson in 38 / 357 magnum like a cimmaron schofield.

First, thanks once again for watching and commenting. I'm not a marketing guy, so my opinion is only speculation. But I'm guessing that companies try to guestimate how many of a particular model they will sell and limit production to that number. Heritage has the 2" Roscoe on their website, but I can't find any listed for sale on any site, even Gunbroker.

My LGS stocks PPU for Twenty-Six Bucks for Fifty.
TargetSports is my go-to for ammo, but they didn't have .32 H&R. I ended up buying some .32 Long and some .32 H&R off Lucky Gunner.
Why would you buy a gun with the "designer" ammo. Ammo is hard to get and expensive. I have the LCR in 38 special. 38 special is easy to come by and inexpensive when compared to the oddball ammo. 38 ammo is readily available in light loads, standard loads and +P loads. I'll stick with the old standards, most all of the new stuff is a flash in the pan. Good luck finding that ammo in 10 years.
I have several small revolvers in .38Special and a couple in .357Mag, plus one in 9mm, so I'm always looking for something new. And while .32H&R is not a real common caliber, it is a long way from dead and has been around since 1984. Plus, this gun will also shoot .32 Short and .32 S&W Long, which have been around for a long time and still available. What is a Lipsey gun? Could you elaborate?
Lipsey is a large gun distributor. They occasional (like other distributors) order special version of production firearms.
Lipsey specifies models with certain features not offered on regular models. These models are sent only to Lipseys, who are gun dealers who then sell these models to other dealers. These custom ordered models are only made in smaller production runs and are much harder to find for purchase.
What @todglenn2707 said. Lipsey's and TALO are two major distributors that often have manufacturers make limited runs of guns with special features, then market them to dealers that work through those distributors.

Can't find any .32 S&W Long locally, but I did get some from Lucky Gunner. The whole idea, however, is for a defensive revolver that has advantages over .38 Special, so I have ordered .32 H&R Mag defensive loads. Stay tuned.
@@RidersRange 32 H&R Mag has been the hardest to find. Our LGS carries PPU and they make 32 S&W Long. That is what was available at the time as she didn’t have 327Fed. There is a substantial difference in recoil. 😎
Like the grips. I bought VZ grips for my 38 S&W. Gave me more control but can't use 5 shot speed loader. Use zip strips. Lightened trigger helped too. Sights are nice. Is that a problem for pocket carry? Why is 32 ammo so expensive?
Before I change grips I need to shoot it with the factory grips. As to .32H&R ammo, the price reflects demand. Not a real popular caliber, so more expensive than 9mm, or even .380. As always, thanks for watching.

My S&W Model 60-15 takes .357mag and has a 3" barrel, along with adjustable sights, but no hammer shroud. A company called Waller & Sons used to make a hammer shroud that could be added to the J-Frame. I can't find any current info on them, but I'm sure the shroud can be found somewhere. I looked at buying one but the trigger was very heavy. Strange for a custom shop gun.
Hmmm.....the trigger on mine isn't the greatest, but better than other recent Smith revolvers I have tried.
It's a carry gun so a heavy long double action trigger pull is safer, one with a exposed hammer is nice for target shooting in single action but the carry guns are double action only

Staging the trigger on a close-range DAO snubby for what? I see people trying this all the time on reviews by people that have enough experience with DAO revolvers to know better. While it's fun I suppose to try and see what kind of groups you get and how accurate it is the gun really isn't designed for target work or any real distance shooting, so I am missing the point. Just like Lipsey's adding the rear sights. Thanks, but why? They are a point shooter grappling weapon, why re-invent the wheel? Not trying to argue just looking for logical answers.
I like a challenge, so I try every handgun at least at 25 yards, often at 50 yards. If I only shoot at "statistical average" defensive distances, I'll never know how I will be able to perform with a gun at distances outside the average. But if I work a gun to my limits with that gun, I'll be better prepared. But that's just my personal philosophy. YMMV. Thanks for watching.
@@RidersRange Thanks for the reply.I suggest replacing those beautiful looking VZ made G10 boot grips with a combat 3 finger grip. They still make the old school Pachmayr gripper grips that feel and smell like an old tire, Pachmayr also sells the Diamond pro series, but they just don't have that feel to them and the old ones add a couple oz.to the back end plus better palm swell. G10 material on a heavy felt recoil not as pleasant as the rubber. Thanks.

SW made a huge mistake re introducing revolvers in calibers no one can find or cares about. Why not .380 or 9mm, huh SW??
Revolvers work best with rimmed cartriges, that's why you seldom see on in a rimless caliber.

Ammo can be found, though not always locally (I received my order from Lucky Gunner in two days and my order from Federal in less than a week). It doesn't matter that you can't shoot it! If you ever had to use it in a self-defense situation you probably won't even see the sights. There is a 99% chance you would just be simply pointing and pulling the trigger.

@wapiti3750, I don't trust my life to a random statistic of 99%, or any other "statistic" pertaining to personal defense. Yes, defensive use of a handgun may be at point-and-shoot bad breath distance, but it also may very well be at greater distances where sight alignment is critical. I test and train to distances well beyond the "21-foot rule" (which has no bearing on actual defensive statistics), or the mythical three yards, three seconds, three shots. And for distances beyond three yards I want good sights.

@charlesmckinley29, the cylinder is long enough (but would need to have the chambers lengthened), but .327 Federal has much higher chamber pressure than .32 H&R, so I'm guessing Smith would have been limited to a stronger 5-shot gun in .327, rather than the 6-shot .32 H&R. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching and thank you for asking the question. There are a couple of reported advantages, one I'll be testing in the near future. One immediate advantage is 6 rounds in the same compact size as 5 rounds of .38 Special. A reported advantage that I have yet to subjectively verify is reduced recoil. I'll be testing this .32 along side the same size guns in .38 Special and 9mm to get my impression on recoil with defensive ammo. The ballistic reports I have followed all show that .32 H&R Mag defensive ammo has similar energy and penetration to standard .38 Special defensive ammo. So essentially, 20% greater ammo capacity with reduced recoil (increased "shootability") without sacrificing effectiveness. I hope that helps to answer your question.

That's a myth. I have dry-fired many Smith centerfire revolvers hundreds of thousands of times with no damage. The Model 10 that is the basis for the PPC gun that I used in competition for more than a decade has had literally half a million dry trigger pulls and is still running just fine. I think I read where the new guns are ok to dry fire. They have some kind of cushion that keeps them from doing damage. The older revolvers with the firing pin attached to the hammer you shouldn't dry fire or rim fire guns like 22LR you shouldn't dry fire. Some owners manuals for new revolvers actually tell you to dry fire the gun to smooth out the trigger. That said I'd use dummy rounds just to be safe. Lol
LC = lousy cartridge.

I did, but not everyone is patient.
Why someone would buy a compact revolver which only has five or six rounds. When for a little more you can have a compact automatic that shoots anywhere up to 17 rounds. Plus tha one inch barrel is a joke.
Many folks still like the simplicity and reliability of a revolver and believe that 5 or 6 shots is enough for personal defense. (According to the "statistics", it is adequate.) And the barrel is actually 1.88". Thanks for watching.
