There are people, especially emotionally abusive or controlling ones, who see it as an opportunity to manipulate you or take advantage of you. It starts by them giving you good and sound advice for your "own good" because they are older and know better and it turns into them trying to control nearly every aspect of your life in a way that fits their agenda by insisting that they know better. Some do offer advice with good intent based on their own experience, but even then, it might not be ideal for you.
