I think the opening instrument of Black Swan is less modified than you think. It is a traditional Korean zither called a gayageum, and naturally has a very ‘twangy’ sound.
I’m so glad Drew was feeling the BTS songs. I was lucky enough to score a ticket to their Las Vegas show and ON live with the horns is insane. There’s just so much energy. And Drew is so right about the spotlight for JK’s solo in ON. The boy really signs the hell out that part. 💜💜
I really like these reactions! I like that the people you bring on actually know what they're talking about, and explain what it is that they're hearing and seeing, rather than just 'reacting.' I respect the effort you put into these!
I think the beat behind the "bump bump bump" part in black swan sounds like the rhythm of a heartbeat, which is what they are talking about in the lyrics as well
Couple of things musically. In "Black Swan", it's easy to mistake the stringed instrument sound as an effect but a traditional korean stringed instrument played that beat. In "On" BTS collaborated with the UCLA drumline and marching band and a well known L.A. area church choir. So, in the very beginning that is an organ playing. You hear the UCLA drumline, especially the snare section, all throughout the song. And those brass noises you mentioned were made by a real trumpet. Most, but not all, of the melodies and beats in "On" were real instruments and church choir.
Always enjoy Drew's perspective on the songs. It's different and refreshing than just getting the same comments like other reaction videos. Keep doing what you're doing.
For On, they actually brought in a band in LA(?) to record all the instrument sounds! Here’s a documentary explaining the process ua-cam.com/video/npfs6afvIhk/v-deo.html
I love this reaction and how he broke down the music. I actually learned something and can hear what he is talking about in the music. Thank you for your reaction to BTS. 💜🙏🏽
What you guys might be interested in knowing if you don't already is that the UCLA marching band and drum corps and concert band are the ones who recorded the instrumentals for this song. That's why it felt full to him even though it wasn't actually orchestral. And just so you know you can have reverb on an organ. There is a setting for that. I'm starting to wonder if the sophisticated production of BTS's music is over this gentleman's head.
I love this. I can see that you are really in tihs, both off you too. These too are my favorite songs, first one is for thinking, deep song. Second is surviving song, Im a fighter , to give you more power
This is irrelevant but I keep noticing that Drew, I believe his name is, (the one reacting) has quite puffy fingertips, I don’t mean to intrude but it can be caused by infections or physical conditions. I hope he can get it checked out at some point just in case. Keeping it relevant now, the reaction was so good, I’ve wanted to see such an in-depth analysis of songs and finally I’ve found one, and one that doesn’t sugar coat! Tytyty
The sound at the start that you said is garbled is the sound from the Gayageum... It is a Korean zither. Similar to the Chinese Guzheng but with tonal differences.
I always love your reactions...i sometimes stalk your youtube if i dont see any uploads 🤣 you should definitely check out cix if you havent already movie star is chefs kiss
Lol in the beginning It's not really a modified sound(or at least not completely). They're using a traditional Korean instrument called a Gayaguem. It's kinda like the Chinese zither but different.they look pretty similar though.
Im not sure if this is true or not, but its said that Yoongi made this beat years ago, but im not sure on how accurate that is🤷🏾♀️ (though there is a vid as “proof”)
Hi can you please react to FELIP " BULAN " Dance Practice. FELIP also known as KEN is the Main Dancer, Lead Vocals and Lead Rapper of SB19 the PPOP KINGS.
Hello I would like to recommend a music video from a group called GOD. then you have to write. God - Dear Mother (ing 께) (Missing You Dvd's Set) (Eng Sub). they were one of kpop's first generation. you will not regret listening to it. everyone should listen to this song at least once in their life. there is another version of the song that you should also listen to after listening to the first version. then you have to write. Kim Tae Woo & Little Giant "songs make the audience cry" to mom I wish you a good day.
First time watching your reaction. I find it interesting that you seem to be more interested in the background instruments and beats of the music, and less interested in the production, choreography and talents of BTS. While I can respect your interest in the background, as a producer, we are not that interested in the background, as we are BTS fans, and so admire and enjoy the actual production. Stopping so much to tell us what is happening in the background is interesting, but not so much - please. Will be interesting to see how you react to other videos, and each BTS video is unique, and very different that the two you reacted to this time.
You’re definitely in the minority of people who feel this way. A producer is going to break down the background instruments and music because that’s what he’s been told to do and will carry on doing. Watch other BTS reactions on the channel for the perspective you are after.

Also he is praising the production which is something they did themselves, is that not praising their talents?
The guy off camera doesn't need to comment/respond. It detracts from the reaction.
you must be new here
