I do not own Doctor Who, BBC does. No copyright infringement intended.
This is the best episode of doctor who by far. I just get chills whenever I watch it
+GrilledChickenTV Heaven sent was also damn good ;D
+GrilledChickenTV Surely has to be Blink...do agree this is up there though
You know what hurts? Rewatches.
Watch Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead.
Then watch Name of the Doctor.
THE TEARS. WHY WON'T THEY STOP.
I just got into this series about a month ago. It's brilliant, loving it so far. Just watched the episode related to this OST a few minutes ago.
This will always be my favorite episode.
I always think of this two-parter as being a foreshadowing of Moffatt's era; the library concept is a fine example of his more creative concepts (have to say this story is much better than Davies' finale for the same series), it has River's first/last appearance and the music, particularly this song, sounds just like the music featured in recent series - more whimsical and fairytale.
As explained in constant times, River is a time traveler. The river who saved the 10th was the future River of the one who is with the 11th Doctor. Every time the Doctor and River meet, it's a different point in time.
Ahhh this music really brings back some good memories, nearing the summer of 2008, David Tennant seemed invincible as the Doctor (we didn't know he was leaving at this point), I was still 16 and leaving a school I had been at for a long time. This episode to me symbolises oncoming change, for better or for worse, and so does the music, because these episodes were a brief glimpse into the future, with River Song, little knowing we would see her again, but opposite Matt Smith two years later.
That part scared the shit out of me!
I wish someone would put up the music box song from the beginning of this episode
River: Why would you do that? Make me watch?
The Doctor: So that you know this is inevitable. And you are forgiven. Always and completely forgiven.
River: Please, my love. Please, please. Just run.
The Doctor: Can't.
River: Time can be rewritten.
The Doctor: Don't you dare. Goodbye, River.
my favourite part is that bit at 1:19, it's just so daunting...i love it. :)
i just watched the episodes, and that bit always stood out whenever it played.
The River gallivanting around with Eleven is a younger River, before her death. That's why the Doctor is so torn about her - all he knows is that she will one day die saving a version of him who hasn't got a clue who she is. The ultimate Spoiler.
the reason why thie vashta are more scary is cuz you never know what shadow you cant see them and they can be anyware in a space suit... scared me more cuz when the doctor throw chicken leg into the shadow and it turned into a bone my power went out and I was in darkness.
Does anyone else just go back and watch Silence in the Library just so they can be all smug and think, "Yeah, I know your future, Doctor. I know who River Song is. Haha!"
I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE Silence in the library!!!
this episode has to be the freakiest and creepiest and scaryiest
@iloveallthings17 Ooh, good call! Thinking back, you're spot-on and it's a little odd (I originally typed "a little Ood" ;-) that both scenes set in a Library (and old ones, at that) have a fairly similar music cue.
...but this, as well as *all* o the music for SITL/FOTD was some of the best from Series 1-4.5 (the Series and a .5 for the 2009 Specials)
'Silence in the library.'
SILENCE!
Perhaps, this was foreshadowing how they had always been there? And since River's there, well...
@moviemaster18 The Doctor was too busy running that he didn't hear the technician shout "Oi! Anyone here, 'cos we're turning off the lights. Right-o, ta-ra!"
wibbly wobbly timey whimy. That pretty much summs it up xD
@Anathwin that was just such a mind worm
"hey! who turned out the lights?! hey! who turned out the lights?! hey! who turned out the lights?! hey! who turned out the lights?!" LOL
Silence will fall in the library. The only water in the forest of the dead is River.
Thank goodness I wasn't the only one who noticed that!
"I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him." Sorry River, this is why we love good wizards! :D
Vashta Nerada, run... just run!
"Some days nobody dies at all."
I have. This is still the scariest episode.
Hey,who turned out the lights?
We should go,Doctor!
Hey,who turned out the lights?
We should go,Doctor!!! lol
hey! who turned out the lights?! hey! who turned out the lights?! hey! who turned out the lights?! hey! who turned out the lights?!
"who turned out the lights?" I show up "heh heh sorry..."
Yes you do.
hey who turned out the lights?
hey who turned out the lights?
hey who turned out the lights?

Famous last words
one of the best doctor who episodes ever made...who agrees? like,if u do
High Octane Nightmare Fuel. Fo' real.
@thesyfychannel15 mat smith? hes not bad...hes growing on me I guess.but they put a new twist on things when the 10th doctor left..its like its more fun and easy, than serious, cool, mysterious and...well...keeping u on the edge of ur seat.
@Anathwin i would say Blink was creepiest. and then "are u my mummy" then girl in the fireplace, then this.
Ok so my fan blew dust down my throat while i was sleeping and when I woke up, my throat was irritating and I was like "Whoa, Vashta Nerada"
Okay sorry if i sound stupid but what I dont understand about Forest of the Dead. If River died, then how can she be with the 11th Doctor if she died saving th 10th?
can scare U some times but some weren't scaed of it I wasn't U wasn't but some times I did jump
@scarred2112 Yes very "Ood"
