  • A major poll for ITV has revealed two thirds of 18 to 25-year-olds have no trust in politics, and over half say politicians don't care about them.
    The poll, conducted by Savanta for ITV News and ITV’s Peston, revealed young people’s concerns and priorities, as we approach a general election this year.
    Housing and mental health came out on top as the most important issues, with the economy and the environment also in the top five.

      @@alice1374it's the only option I'm afraid. The problems with labour are a mix of getting into bed with business, unwillingness to do away with brexit policies but also the economy is so poor at the moment that there is little wiggle room for big change. The only silver lining might be that stamers strategy of dk nothing and let the tories eat themselves has to change once in power

    • @alice1374
      @alice1374 9 днів тому

      @@chindit6784why don't they run on a platform that allows them to do things then...? Surely it makes sense from a standpoint of view that allowing yourself to do things by changing parts of policies i.e things to do with Brexit, sectors that aren't working as intended privatised take water for example brought out for no more than £1 as that's what they were all sold for. Basically, allow the economic side of things able to change instead of being stuck in the same dilemma "can't do that because the economy is bad" well, if you don't plan to do anything to change that outlook either how do you expect to be able to?
      Also it should be pointed out that Starmer is an authoritarian figure. He just wants power, nothing else. I see very little accountability under his government. And therefore very little hope that he will shift. Right now he's looking to grab over 65 disillusioned Tory voters. What does that say about the party as a whole? Labour= new Tory party - toryuniparty

      @@alice1374 well they did with the green energy bill and then backtracked because it wasnt financially feasible anymore which the conservatives and media threw back in their face. I don't think we can just buy back the water companies for what we sold it for, though with the situation at Thames water it may well have to be nationalised, whether it is or isn't the taxpayer will be footing thr bill. Also alienating voters with going back on brexit which the Conservatives will use to create a wedge issue.

      Exactly. I would be a Labour voter, but I'm so annoyed with how Labour is run I'm voting for the Greens because they're much closer to the policies I consider we need.
      I should also point out that based on trying to save the NHS from constant privatisation, Labour isn't the option either. The greens actually defend what the NHS stands for!
      Unfortunately, under this FPTP system we will never see a huge win for the greens. Either way, an increase in vote share means they can be seen more widely and out there so people know there's an option other than the two main parties or the lib dems for example.

If your rent and council tax are around £800 a month, phone and internet £60, water and electric £100 a month, bus travel around £70, maybe £200 a month food, you should be ok as long as you are careful with debt. Many boomers may not like this but we are now seeing people like and younger leaving the country because the politicians have neglected the country they have prioritised their ambitions, ideology, and beliefs for that of the country and now the UKs future is in trouble. These young people have every right to complain they have been given the short straw and now they ar having to pay for it at an earlier age when I hear my father talk about the old days they were hard, but when you have access to education housing and it costs more then you are given in as student loan ort a part-time job can pay for and you cannot even live on what's left over I think the government have really done what young people say and to be honest their majority so these politicians need to grow so backbone and admit they let young and elderly people down. Young people are asking to live and afford a future for themselves dso they can grow in the country they still call home, so for me it is absolutely looney that students are asking to get more funding or cut tuition fees and increase the loan contribution build and extend student housing so it is privatised to the point it is survival of whos got the most cash. These short sited policies have destroyed the country young and the only way back is to help the current generation and reset things so the next generation has a chance, education cannot be for free at higher education but it needs to be affordable along with housing 250k for a house is hardly affordable now so politicians do live in a sims world.
