On the occasion of the 336th birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach in March 2021, the Baroque Orchestra of the Mozarteum University played the six Brandenburg Concertos in the Orchesterhaus Salzburg, under the direction of Vittorio Ghielmi. The concerts were initiated and recorded on behalf of the Salzburg Bach Society.

Bravo! I think this thing is a little less "serious" than the remaining concertos. Bach was perhaps feeling pretty lighthearted when he wrote it? And that little "recitative" in the third movement was cute.

Bach didn't compose or conceive the 6 Brandenburg concertos at the same time, nor were any of them originally composed for the Margrave of Brandenburg, despite the 1721 dedication. Concerto #1 was probably composed for the birthday celebration (which would have included a hunt, of course) of Duke Christian of Saxe-Weissenfels, who was a cousin of Bach's employers from 1708-1717, the two co-reigning dukes of Saxe-Weimar. The hunting horn parts in the 1st movement are rhythmically altered hunting horn calls.

viel Tolle Vorstellung. Super Hörner und Rest. Leider etwas zu penetrante 1.Violine aber was verstehe ich als Leihe schon....
