For casual tournaments diversity cut seems like a fun idea that gives people the option to bring their pet decks over decks they know will do well. When you try to analyze results from competitive tournaments with diversity cuts it gets complicated with people trying to play around it to give themselves an advantage which can make it hard to see what’s being played and what’s strong in a new format.
I diversity cut in theory, its a cool idea to give players who try out rouge decks a chnace at making it, if there deck low rolled or lost agsint its worst match up. However, it does seem like bushiroad is simply using this as a method to cover up less then settler card design. Like some people commented its makes the format look healthier then it is, but over in the West we have a clear cut these decks perfrom due to great card desgin and good support. If bushiroad wanted a more diverse meta they would need to put in more effort in balancing the power level. Hwoever since they havent done that this was there next best solution.
Just to make sure I understand this correctly, let's say that there are three Evas that went undefeated. Would any team that took eva and did not go undefeated get 1 point or 3?
@@wcctcg Last question. If two teams have the same total after the diversity cut, how are tiebreaks determined? Is it by seeding? Tiebreak games? Random draw?
It probably wouldn't be that bad if it was like 9 rounds swiss, but 5 come on if you get lucky with OTs you can win with anything if you get lucky, but statistically you are dead by 7
The most hilarious part in all of this is, it's the Japanese first who came up with this inclusivity rule. Like isn't usually the west who done it first?
Diversity is the best and this is the only TCG who does this, I hate 1-2 decks metas. I dont care that you cant understand all the matchups and need to analyse all decks to have a 5% more chance to win.I know its a casual mentality, but this is what card games should be
The reality is that your tier 5 deck still won't top. You're still forced to play the same tier 1 or 2 deck, then pray no one else goes x-0 to cuck you out of top cut.
@@wcctcg @WCC for example in yugioh. They try to force a 2 deck meta by powercreeping the decks to hell. Do u want that? U want to be zoned floodgated zone locked first turn in a few years of power creep? Decks being similar in power level is good
@@YGOHermit But they are not the same power level. You’re just getting a boost for playing a less popular deck. Like did you not understand how diversity cut works?
Diversity shouldn’t be forced, it should be created through balancing. Look at the current premium format in the west. Super diverse, no diversity cut needed.

It definitely feels like a corporate decision to make/force the competitive scene to appear healthier from an outsider's perspective.
Ah bushi never change
But if you can, change

Prelims then the midterns then the finals??
Bushiroad: Our formats balanced, see look at the pie chart.

As I understand it, you still need 3 different ride line represented on a team
Only 1 point.

Why you making it sound like Messiah is a bad deck? 💀
