I'm sure most visitors find that ship impressive but I don't think too many people can appreciate its technological aspects. What it took to make that ship is amazing.

Worked on this ship in the late 80's in Pascagoula, MS and marveled at the craftmanship of this fine lady. In my opinion she is a work of art and it is refreshing to see her being taken care of.

I got to do some K9 training on board the USS Wisconsin, it was definitely an amazing experience. Much respect to our Sailors from an Infantryman.

I was on this tour. Quite cool, the seen 2 minutes in is a recreation of the 2nd gulf War. All recorded radio is from the actual engagement. They choreographed the lighting to let the visitors know what sailor was talking and where from in CIC during the engagement. Surreal to experience this. Loved the tours and the ship

They were on station for Gulf War 1 1990 The second Iraq war happened in 2003 ish. Desert Shield was the buildup before the deadline and ultimatum for Iraq to retreat from Kuwait or be attacked when Desert Storm commenced. I was there for Deser Shield on an Amphibious Readiness Group

Thank you for serving our Country! From the tour information, it seems like the engine rooms were a hot area to work in, and it was hard work. Very glad that you watched the video and took the time to comment. Thank you!

Agreed, it must take a ton of work to keep it that way-

Wow, it appears to be in fantastic shape. Everything looks like you could just gas her up and sail away. Kudos to the museum staff for their maintenance efforts.
I'm of the opinion the USN should build a few updated Montana class monsters, nuclear powered of course, just as a gentle reminder to our potential enemies in the Pacific.

No, Tomahawks are for land-attack. They can't target or hit an airborne moving target.

It makes no sense to me that you have to buy admission online. The paper the tickets are made of aren’t even touched by the workers who made them. There was no information from google maps or others about having to order tickets online. I just followed directions to the location and after seeing the small sign outside the museum, parked across the street in a parking garage. It was only when I got to the front door that I saw the online ordering. There’s absolutely no reason to not have on location ticketing when you’re already there. All this effort to make everything sanitary when using tickets is no less so. If you don’t use credit cards or take money from your bank account in preparation for admission that that leaves you with nothing except for gasoline money in your account. So I drove over a day total to get there and spent more on parking than in the museum. Thanks for wasting my time.

Interesting, sounds like a bummer of an experience! I wonder why they have it set up like that. Hopefully you get a chance in the future to go back when things are somewhat back to "normal".

One underwent a rapid, unscheduled submarine conversion; the other is the last surviving battleship, still serving in her “shock and awe” role.
