- LYRICS:
Verse 1
He said the way my blue eyes shine,
Put those Georgia stars to shame that night,
I said "That's a lie,"
Just a boy in a Chevy truck
That had a tendency of getting stuck
Back roads at night
Prechorus
I was right there beside him all summer long
Damn, the time we woke up to find, summer gone
Chorus
Well when you think Tim McGraw
I hope you think my favourite song
The one we danced to all night long
The moon like a spotlight on the lake
When you think happiness
I hope you think that little black dress
Think my head on your chest
And my old faded blue jeans
When you think Tim McGraw
I hope you think, me
Verse 2
September saw a month of tears
And thanking God that you weren't here
To see me like that
But in a box beneath my bed
Is a letter that you never read
From three summers back
Prechorus
It's hard not to find it all a little bittersweet
And looking back on all of that, it was love to me
Chorus
Bridge
I've been back a couple times since then
I didn;t look up you
'Cause some trains you can't catch again
You gotta, leave it as it was
Chorus
Chorus
Well when you think Tim McGraw
I hope you think my favourite song
The one we danced to all night long
The moon like a spotlight on the lake
When you think happiness
I hope you think that little black dress
The one you said you always liked best
And my old faded blue jeans
When you think Tim McGraw
I hope you think, me
Outro
He said the way my blue eyes shine
Put those Georgia stars to shame that night
I said "That's a lie,"
Additional song info:
First written in 2004 by Swift as a piano demo, later changed to Swift/Rose acoustic demo during 2005 (featured) and finalised in 2006 as Swift's lead single to debut album, Taylor Swift.
I like the line here: "I been back a couple since then, I didn't look you up, 'cause some trains you can't catch again, you gotta leave it as it was." better than leaving him a letter. It makes it more of a complete story, just her looking back, admitting it's over, than her getting back in touch with him. Also more realistic and mature.
Tim McGraw is one of my fave songs from her debut album and hearing the original version is 💗💗💗
The piano demo is the original one and the best.
Where’s it at
Sad version...
best version
I prefer the “it was love to me” rather than “it’s nice to believe”
yeah it took me SO long to realise she was saying "nice to believe" lol
dang I like this bridge better
Beautiful
is this the voice of taylor swift?
yes it's from 2005
Taylor is the best plus she was 17 then
not even 17. Debut was released in 2006 and she was 16. But this demo was probably at least 18 months before the album release...so she was probably in her 15s when this acoustic demo was recorded.
@@wouldvecouldveshouldve89 I obviously made a typo, saying" not even 17. Debut was released in...". I obviously meant to say "she was 16". I'll edit my original comment.
