I though exactly the same. The first spell he was quick, strong and always gave everything for the team, I remember him, on a hattrick, through in goal, squaring the ball to Kuyt, an unbelievable player. The second spell the pace was going but the aggression and hunger had not. He had an individual training routine because of his knee, which I think we should've done something similar with Sturridge. That helped him and he burst on, most times from the bench and made an instant impact, he'll always be remembered for that Semi-final against City and the game against Barca.
As a Blackburn fan I will second that. When he left us for you we really struggled. Some of the goals he scored for us were out of this world. The one against Portsmouth one of my favourite ever goals.

Simon Forrest I think his only thing that really held him back after listening to this was maybe his ability to integrate properly. And for people to understand his “problems” and his reaction to them. Because he was certainly a great wee player. Always trying, wore his heart on his sleeve, and if given half a sniff at goal, he usually delivered. I just genuinely hope he finds what he’s looking for.

Thanks so much for posting something like this. Really resonated with me. I couldn't handle the pressure as a kid, I was at a Championship club's academy and the pressure was immense. From myself, from the manager, from not wanting to let my parents/teammates down. Not sure how a lot of these players have the mental resilience to carry on! I was given a contract when I was 8. The pressure started to affect me when I was 9 or 10 and I ended up quitting when I was 12. I was living and breathing football 24/7 from the age of 6 to 12. Found this an immensely enjoyable and insightful watch. Craig Bellamy comes across really well here. His thoughts around coaching are interesting, particularly how he tailors his approach to fit individuals. He also seems to have much better communication skills than he's ever been given credit for. Did very well for my club (Liverpool) in two spells and was a great player for Wales. A bit of a shame that he got to play in tournaments with the later Welsh crop, but a great career nonetheless.
Hope this has been cathartic for Craig. The fact that he’s finally disclosing how he was and how he is, will hopefully be good for him. Cracking player too.
It’s strange a lot of people hated Craig Bellamy when he was a player but I’ve always loved him, when I was younger he was one of my favourite players, for no particular reason just liked the way he played

Was actually really nice to hear and see a different side to a very misunderstood player. When he was on loan at celtic I was genuinely amazed of the ability. What speed and talent. Shouldn't seel himself short, I genuinely thought he was a fantastic player.
Bellamy was so underrated he was unbelievable at city I still dont know city let him go hes pace was unreal he was so quick he gave 100 percent for full 90mins I wish he came to Chelsea
He's only human and has always been himself really! Excellent footballer and left it all on the pitch for the love of the game and obvious pride! Good on him to open up because i believe he's been more than often misunderstood from a far as people don't know what he was going through or been through!
Craig u was a very good player u destroyed defenders your speed ability at times was out of this world when u came to Liverpool loved watching u play sad to c u go tho Top man
Craig Bellamy was not bad player in his career as a Liverpool fan, I was sad when he left us in summer 2007 first time around to go to West Ham United then he came back to Liverpool in 2011 after leaving Man City on a free.
Come on, he was shite, his best years were playing in the championship, that's not a bad thing but for some players that was the only level they excelled in, like another welshman look at Rob Earnshaw, he was a beast in the championship but garbage in the premiership, just like Bellamy, he just got lucky for a short time to play for City and Liverpool. He didn't last long at either club remember
Always thought Craig was a great player. Was gutted to hear about the bullying allegations against him as I always admired him, but fair play to him for opening up on his career and problems. Wish him the best
Brilliant interview fairplay to craig for opening up easy dislike him when he was a player but obvious now what hes been through seems like a great guy deep down

Very interesting discussion and commentary on football culture. I think that the issues raised are common among most if not all sports and the importance of good coaching and mentoring at youth level are underlined here. Bellamy has the self-awareness to reflect on his own experiences and to learn the lessons and put them in place so that the next generations of footballers will benefit.
Being from the States I can only imagine the pressure on the players knowing how passionate England is about football. They have absolutely no margin for error as far as just being human. To hear that they wonder if they actually enjoyed playing is very telling.
I always thought Bellamy was an incredible player, quick, aggressive, creating space/goals. But lacked consistency through injurys. And I glad he opened up about mental health, depression/anxiety, his behaviour makes sense now which I think media and public misunderstood.
@@gethcreator751 100% Sky needs to inject some fresh faces into their group of pundits. Too much exposure reduces the intrigue; Carra is turning into Sky's Claire Balding.
Lol this dude was a character. I remember he left a team in controversy and then had to go back there the next season to play against them and before kick off shook every ex team mates hand and looked them all right in the eye as if to say I dont care and it doesnt phase me 😃
So much respect for Craig Bellamy he’s been so misunderstood for so many years with the press and public giving him such a hard time ! This just show how much different people are off the pitch
I always liked Bellamy despite all the hate he got as a player. Always seemed like an intelligent no nonsense guy who doesn’t suffer fools. Yes he was mouthy on the pitch but it’s a skill as a striker knowing how to wind up defenders and get under their skin. He was also a great and underrated player.
That's the best lockdown interview SkySports have done so far. Although it is super annoying listening to people who earn tens of thousands of pounds a week complain or moan about their jobs
@MrHarlinq yeah I totally agree with you! I didn't mean it like that. I just meant it's a privileged situation to be in to be earning as much as professional footballers earn. Although money does not equate to happiness, there are people that earn minimum wage whilst supporting families and dealing with mental health problems
Bit of a misleading / click bait title. There’s also some really engaging technical analysis and interesting stories in this video. Sounds like Craig is developing into a very good future coach to be fair .

Thought he was one of those players who acted hard but wasn’t when people stood up to him. However, he was a very talented player and one you’d loved to have had in your team when he was in his pomp.
Loved him at newcastle, his pace and his tenacity, couldnt understand how sir bobby got results out of bellers, and laurent robert yet graeme souness just... clashed with their personalities and essentially lost two very good players. And then replaced them with michael owen and albert luque, who were injured all the time, which wasnt souness's fault albeit but.. still a shame,a great player

I met his dad he worked in Cardiff telling me who is son was but he just starting out. What a super star he become to be
great interview fair play .great player always remember his goal for celtic vs rangers .🙏
That game gets forgotten m8 coz a the obvious thought he won us the league at day he was outstanding at ibrox
He's only human and has always been himself really! Excellent footballer and left it all on the pitch for the love of the game and obvious pride! Good on him to open up because i believe he's been more than often misunderstood from a far as people don't know what he was going through or been through!
1 of the reasons I start to love fc Newcastle ,he was my Rodman of Chicago Bulls ,amazing talent
Craig u was a very good player u destroyed defenders your speed ability at times was out of this world when u came to Liverpool loved watching u play sad to c u go tho Top man
Is geoff morphing into steve bruce ??
Did u say bacon?
What a great coach for young people he sounds like. Perfect balance.
Crai9g Bellamy was a VERY good player..He is just understating his ability..A TOP prem forward..1V1 he could destroy defendrers
Always loved his passion for the game and to win. Also was a class player, especially on the left for City.
Bellamy a very underrated commentator!
Always thought Craig was a great player. Was gutted to hear about the bullying allegations against him as I always admired him, but fair play to him for opening up on his career and problems. Wish him the best
Quality player at Celtic, Bellamy💚💚
Brilliant interview fairplay to craig for opening up easy dislike him when he was a player but obvious now what hes been through seems like a great guy deep down
🙌Salute for being able to speak about it
Brave honest interview.. inspiring for others
No matter what Craig thinks of himself to me he was One of the best players doesn't matter what teams he was in he always gave you his best on the pitch YNWA CRAIG AND WE ALL LIVERPOOL SURPORTERS WISHING YOU ALL THE IRISH RESPECT YOU DESERVE IT MATE 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Perfectionist can be the most unhappy in life
Being from the States I can only imagine the pressure on the players knowing how passionate England is about football. They have absolutely no margin for error as far as just being human. To hear that they wonder if they actually enjoyed playing is very telling.
Great player at Newcastle... his pace was phenomenal
I always thought Bellamy was an incredible player, quick, aggressive, creating space/goals. But lacked consistency through injurys. And I glad he opened up about mental health, depression/anxiety, his behaviour makes sense now which I think media and public misunderstood.
I’m so relieved that Carra is hungry to be on all Sky’s videos; he’s absolute gold!
He's the worst
Sky needs to inject some fresh faces into their group of pundits. Too much exposure reduces the intrigue; Carra is turning into Sky's Claire Balding.

Lol this dude was a character. I remember he left a team in controversy and then had to go back there the next season to play against them and before kick off shook every ex team mates hand and looked them all right in the eye as if to say I dont care and it doesnt phase me 😃
He was brilliant at Newcastle. Gave me the best night ever scoring away at Feyenoord. All the best Bellers.
This depends on each individual. Some of the things that made Craig become depressive, worked like fuel for others.
said it time and again craig bellamy is the sharpest pundit sky have
Carra's really good at these interviews
Brilliant, brilliant player. Tenacious, quick and great finisher
Craig was a great player. Maybe not on the level of the very best but he was tricky, ridiculously quick and dangerous
Bellamy was a great player. His short burst of pace was immense.
Bellamy was a quality player n thts from a manc red
He talks very honestly about football. His book is a good read
Sounds like Craig is developing into a very good future coach to be fair .
really powerful messages, and i hope more men can wake up to the things which bother them and not just mask it
Scored one of the greatest goals in Cardiff history
graig.paul mearson and even israel adesanya talk openly whether your famous or not....majority of men(old &young) ....giving us tools to deal with the down side of negative thoughts, and that its only a natural emotion and how to combat that!!!...laughter is still the best medicine and something as a simple as a run or ride on bike certainly helps!!...thumbs up to graig!
Cardiff City Legend 🏴
Bellamy was one of my favourite players at Liverpool, top guy
Craig underestimates the impact of his talent on the fans. As a Chelsea fan I'd always be anxious facing Bellamy. He was a great player/nemesis.
Love craig get him back on sky sports. He was a great pundit especially on the "debate" show.
He got caught in the trap of the millennial parents exercising their rights on the kids who dont know that if they fail his way of work etiquette is the norm for the working man today.
Absolutely brilliant this. Top man Bellamy.
Always had a feeling there was a sensitive lad in there somewhere behind the attitude
Great interview
Brilliant interview
Absolutely fantastic Vid.
Notice the universal wave of the truth of what things we all took for granted really were underneath - its happening through everything
Thought he was one of those players who acted hard but wasn’t when people stood up to him. However, he was a very talented player and one you’d loved to have had in your team when he was in his pomp.
Bellamy scored Newcastle's biggest goal in modern football, last minute of the final champions League group game Vs Feyenoord 👌👍
Dyer. Saved. Belllaammmmmyyyy
@@MacNE28 "saved by Van Wonderen" or something 😂
Craig’s a Nice fella who’d have thought
Great player. Done good at city
Bellamy was a marvellous footballer and I’ve never supported any teams he has ever played for
Great player. Brave guy.
My mental health issues are big because of life situations and i also played a bit of ball but life battered me down
You were world class.
