    Thanks Rob.
I tried to explain geoid models 6 months ago to a co-worker and i probably did more harm than good LOL.
I will be saving this in my playlist.
You would fit right in here in Canada with that metric talk and beard :)

Great stuff Robert. This can be very intimidating until you wrap your brain around it. Now it wont be long until the 2022 datum comes out. Oh boy!

    Now I truly get it!

I always explain it like this, a gps measures elevation(height) as if the earth was perfectly round(ellipsoid), but doesnt account for gravity being stronger in some areas than others. A geoid model "adjusts" the elevation to account for different gravity in different places.

Another awesome video. I use EZsurv to do processing. So if processing and the GEO WGS84 datum is used. Then if I understood correctly, it would be incorrect to use the Geoid12B because that is tied to NAD83 2011? Is that correct? I got a nice deal on a used S6 and I will be using this to collect alot of data for ground truthing drone lidar and photogrammetry data. Sometime soon I hope to have some good videos showing this (good bad and ugly). I will also be sending folks to this channel for some very good info! Love the videos.

How do you know what horizontal data you are using or is it defaulted to the most current?

your horizontal data would be where your base data comes from. If you are connecting to a network I am sure it is published somewhere. Does that help?

@@SurveyingWithRobert yes...that helps. Is it the same if you aren't using a network base? What would your R10 unit be receiving and broadcasting to your rover? Would it be the most current or whatever was available at the time you purchased your unit?

Just survey like the earth is flat life will be easier.
